So throughout Biowares history of voiced protagonists (ME 1/2/3 & DA2/Inquisition) there has generally been one voice actor for Male characters and one for Female characters. DA:I however set the bar higher by having two Male voice actors and two Female voice actors (one low pitched voice and one softer voice) to choose from during character creation.

This was born out of the need to have a voice matching Dragon Ages respective races (soft for Humans & Elves. Low for Dwarfs & Qunari/Vashoth). So the question of whether Mass Effect Andromeda should follow suit comes to mind. I won't pretend to be versed in video game production but I have heard a decent chunk of disk space is audio files. The protagonist will likely have alot of dialogue. Adding two more voices thus doubles the load. A third set would triple it. On the other hand more voice choices greatly increases the custimizability of the protagonist and increases the chances of the player finding a voice they like (Mark Meer/Shepard always fell a bit flat to me).

So well... what do you figure? Is it worth it? How many voices would you like? What kind of voices would you like (Tone, accent, pitch, etc.) to hear?

Probably just two VA, one male, and female.

OT:  The writing of Commander Palmer is a tremendous waste of Hale's talent.

I'd say if the protagonist had more than two voice actors (female and male), then they'd may as well just make the commitment of adding playable alien races.

So, no, there'll only be two, just like the original trilogy.

Yeah I suspect they'll just stick with 2 the ony reason I think DAI got more was because you can play other types of characters as well in that game not just humans whereas in ME we only play a human character. Our only choice is whether it's a male or female one.

It'd be great if they did put in the work to add in playable alien races during the singleplayer campaign. It's just a bit of a shame because we all know that Mass Effect is famous for it's continuous stories throughout different games, meaning if the first installment in a trilogy doesn't star playable aliens, you'll most likely not get that chance again for up to ten years.

I doubt it. As mentioned, the main reason behind multiple VA's in DAI was to account for the different races you could play as, which is why humans and elves are preset to the British and dwarves and qunari are preset to the American.

They also said that in and of itself, that ended up taking a fair amount of disk space to accomplish. I think that's something they'd want to avoid if at all possible, and ME is a series where they can avoid it fairly easily.

If I remember correctly at one point there was a BioWare post indicating that 40% of the game's size was voice acting (I can't find the quote), but after reading that it always made me wonder if they cut some of the voice acting out of other areas of the game to reduce the size of the game.

I believe it was said that Inq would have had more voices if they didn't have to fit them on the previous generation's discs (360 I guess rather than PS3). Because the attempt to make that game go on old consoles hadn't cost it enough features apparently.

I'd like multiple voices if they have the space for them.

Multiple options would be quite nice, Saint Row 4 had 7 for example, 3 female voices and 4 male voices. So it can be done. You could also change pitch of them all. I'm hoping for non-anglo accent, loved French accent in Saint Row and that won't likely happen unless there is multiple voices to choose from.

However I really doubt BW is going for more than 2, one male and one female voice. 4 is probably max for them.

Oh, the "pitch" feature! Sure, diapason of the changes are not that big (to still sound naturally) but it DID add flavor, DID change the voice enough for it to feel fresh and different. And costs nothing, compare to another voice actor. Why don't they do it is beyond my understanding.

I'd love pitch feature even if there is only one voice for gender, cause it really helps crafting the character by letting them have that low or high pitched voice :)

DAI had multiple actors because they had racial options.  Since ME always uses human protaginists I don't see more than one VA per gender being necessary.

I'm sure Bioware will stick with one male VA and one female VA

Only if they will change their mind and give us more races. Don't know why they don't want to. I assume they're afraid of creating good game.
