I am Currently working on fixing a few Flaws with the Botumys  Hobbit House.

 

They include animating the door (completed) and fixing a walk mesh error that lets you walk though the outer wall in places. I hope to have it done and posted on the new Vault in the next day or 2.

 

The new files will include blueprints and 2da's one for the house (already had a 2da line reserved for it) the other for the door ( a doortype 2da line has been reserved by me already for the door)

 

I will post updates as available

I can totally see reskinning that in stone/metal textures for a cave/dwarven/vault placeable.

I still plan on making some more doors to fit it so there is a variety. I may also do some more mods to the house itself to give a little more variety there as well.

Could you remove the bit of house above the roof level? It would make it more useful to be a vault of some type.

 

I did some preliminary reskinning but it seems the grass in the top right corner of the texture gets used both on the grass roof and the grass hanging from the roof, so you can't switch the grass roofing to another texture without that texture also be hanging from the roofline. I was trying to remove the grass hanging from the roofline just via blanking that texture bit, but it's also used where the two roof pieces are together.

There was a placeables 2da issue that kamal pointed out it has now been fixed and new files uploaded.

@kamal which parts are you wanting removed could you get a screenshot and circle the areas? if so it shouldn't be a problem.

These are the edits, of course this isn't something I would need for myself, just how I could see the placeable being used as something other than a "Hobbit House":

 

Removal of the grass fringe hanging from the roof. It uses the same section of the texture file as where the ground over the roof meets with the roof, so you can't just blank out that section of the texture because it creates a blank gap at the roof/ground line

 

Remove the chimney and the gabled section of the roof.

 

If the chimney was removed entirely, as well as the window, I think it would make a nice "vault" type placeable, that round door just says "bank vault" :-) Maybe it would also work as a mine entrance, since the mine entrance we have is pretty ornate.

 

From a texture perspective getting a reskin the way I thought of (metal/stone) might be difficult because the section where the grass gives way to the roof tiling is one texture, so if you want to move the hobbit house to say a cliff you need to replace all that blended roof/grass texture with a roof/cliff blend instead. The line of green where the walls meet the ground doesn't help either in a cliff house use, though the bush between the chimney and door is it's own section of the texture so removing that is simple.

How about an all new placeable with just that style door opening? that way It could be done using separate textures for the parts which would make it easy to retexture/

Sure. I'm only making requests since you said you might do some varieties of the house. If I get nothing, that's fine too.

Interesting suggestion, I may have to look into doing it that way as it may be a little easier then modifying or build complete houses.
