It's good for SC but in terms of what it means for ME:A, absolutely nothing. I don't remember too many complaints about the VAs used throughout the Shepard trilogy and I suspect we'll be as equally pleased with ME:A eventually.

If there's one thing I'm not worried about, it would pretty much be that. I haven't played one single bioware game that didn't have decent voice acting largely across the entire spectrum, even if character animations often feel stilted.

Yeah, it's basically not the same thing.

The ME franchise has used pure voice-work so far and the characters were animated the old fashioned way. Star Citizen uses actors that are motion-captured including their facial expressions, i.e. they actually act out their scenes and don't stand in front of a microphone.

Star Citizen is going to be about game play and acquisition with cutscenes and voice acting thrown in. Just my opinion, but I've seen enough MMORPGS. Plot? It can't be too deep otherwise you lose people. Get mission > go out and shoot things > get loot > return > level up > get perks. Wash, rinse, repeat. Play with your friends online for hours, months, years.

Except that you're thinking about the Persistant Universe which will be the MMO part of Star Citizen. Squadron 42 is the SP campaign and will be seperate from the MMO.

Also, people who complain that the game is taking too long needs to remember that CGI hasn't been working at full strenght for half the time. At November 2012 when the original fundraising campaign ended  they only had 8 employers. By December they had 60 employers. It's only by June 2014 they had 139 staff and Febuary 2015 it became 205. And even if the game has been one year delayed, so what? What happened to being patient and waiting for a game to released once it is ready? I didn't see people losing their **** over DA3s near year long delay.

Why does it make you wonder about Andromeda? I am personally expecting at least one of those actors for Star Citizen to turn out to be exactly like Peter Dinklage in Destiny for just because they can act with people doesn't mean they can do voice work.  BioWare has a good track record of voice acting and its why you keep seeing the same people doing voice acting for them repeatedly because they know those people can preform to certain levels.

Couldn't habve put it better and I think that's why a lot of them have appeared in most of the 6 ME and DA games that BW have created Both VA's that did Shepard have been in both series Alix who has been in all 3 DA games in some capacity or another and also played Traynor in ME3 Those 3 have done brilliant jobs as has Ali Hillis who did a great job as Liara and did a pretty good job as Scout Harding too in DAI.

Geez Star Citizen still isn't done? At this point I'm starting to doubt it will ever be finished. Glad I wasn't suckered in.

Bioware VA's are some of the best in the business, they do a really good job coaching the actors.

They got over 50 million for a video game....hopefully it will be good.

Almost 92 million right now, and the game is coming along pretty well.

They showed the scale they wanted to work at and how tiny the studio was, even with the 3 studios (which took their own time to get up and running) anyone thinking that the game would be done in less than ~5 years is just a fool.

Wether you like it or not the game is one year behind on it's original release date.

So the original release date was 2014. Two years of development.... that's laughable. I really don't think they're super sure about a release date. They gave estimations of release dates about the various modules that compose the game. Logically, this game will need much more time than the average title, and may have much more 'dalays' because they're doing something than no one really has done before.

They pretty much had to start from scratch even in the game engine department. They had to modify the Cry Engine so much you may as well say they created a totally new engine. If anything I'm surprised about how much they've achieved thus far.

The finances are in doubt as no details have been released. While i don't claim to know all the details involved, neither do you.

How so? As I've said, check their website or youtube. They're updating constantly. Not claiming anything, just pointing facts.

Also you wrote "It just annoys me a bit that people who are not even following the game DARE saying stuff like "they will never finish at this rate". Who the hell do you think are reserve the right wether people can DARE to voice an opinion.

An opinion, yes. But a very stupid one, because they don't know what they're talking about.

Some people can say that Mass Effect is utter crap, and yet they've never played the game; but it's an opinion, right?

You may not like the game, you may not trust the devs. But as I've said, people is just being really toxic and ignorant about it; especially when the devs keep showing their progress and try to always be in contact with their fans.

GTA V costed 125+ million and took 5 years to develop yet no one bats an eye. Same thing is probably happening with Fallout 4.

According to Todd Howard, they started FO4 right after Fallout 3. FO4 is releasing at the end of this year, that's about 7 years of development. As they always say, they're a small studio.

GTA V development cycle is a good example too.

It's human nature. When the grass is greener on the other side of the fence, we would wonder if ours gets green too.  :P

Hiring famous VA just because they are famous looks like a giant waste of money to me. I'd rather see them hiring more actors for a reasonable payment or few additional animators to make gender/class specific scenes.

Let's see if the grass is still green when you can tread on it (=play the game).

SC seems to be stuck in the never ending development cycle. I'm looking forward to the finished game. But right now? I'm glad I invested in SC with zero dollars.

It's called feature creep. This game will never be released, and sadly it will stain the crowdfunding community with regards to video game projects. Don't even get me started on all the scandals this project has been plagued with.

I think it's the crowd funded part that most are upset about.

An aspect I don't really understand.  So, what, people donate money to develop a game they think they'll like?

This is what I've read on the internet way to often. 3 Year of development is hardly 'never ending', and for a game as big as this one?... Folks are so used to the 3-4 year as the absolute maximum development cycle that they forget that not all games are the same. I blame this to the yearly CODs and ACs (and now apparently Far Cry is going to join the party), but people know what they get with those games.

Look, I'm no backer. I'm not even following the game that actively, but have you checked RSI website or their Youtube channel? they are updating constantly. Their channel is releasing like 3 videos per day or something talking about various stuff, including updates on the work they're doing and whatnot.

Well, you said it. You know nothing, lol.

____

Also, the way I wrote this kinda looks like I'm super angry. I'm not. It just annoys me a bit that people who are not even following the game dare saying stuff like 'they will never finish it at this rate' or 'it's a waste of money'.

The only concern I've got is that they keep moving the goalposts; no IT project has ever been a resounding success when the specs keep changing... and that's what's happening with SC. They should probably draw a line through it and say "this is going to be our 1.0 release" otherwise there's a danger they'll keep extending the funding and keep releasing modules but never actually deliver a "final" product.

They can then use any excess capitol for FreeLC after launch.

Otherwise it could end up being Chris Roberts' pet project that is continually tinkered with in the unattainable pursuit of absolute perfection - then again, an MMO is the perfect fit for that I guess.

It's not really a donation in the end...thats the funny part.

If people treated it like investing, then kickstarter would make a lot more sense.

... and go Stockholm-Syndrome about the part that it's becoming very likely not to get what they'll like. But that's quite natural: They spent money on it so it must be good. It can't be that they were wrong and it all did sound so well.

It is an investment ... and like any investment it's not guaranteed to be a good one ;)
