Hi,

This would be the first time am contemplating on replaying a game, life's too short. Just to add some variability will install the DLCs this time :)

Had a question regarding replay with imported ME2 character saved at the first end game. I got two team mates killed in the suicide mission - Thane and Samara. Let Thane go alone, cuz I failed his loyalty mission, thought it might cause some kind of a cascading effect if I let him pair with either assault teams and believed Samara to be the best choice for leading a team

Anyways, will the second playthru consider these characters as dead or will I get recruit them again (note: I will be using the ME2 char save)

Thanks.

That is essentially a New Game+ mode where you get to keep your character level, abilities, (resources, weapons?) and face, but the story will start out fresh, with no changes (except the decisions you imported from ME1, ofc)

Except you do not import the renegade or paragon points you earned in ME1. New game plus starts you out with zero paragon and renegade points. Therefore persuade checks are significantly harder to pass in a new game plus.

OTOH, you can make some of that up since you'll start with ranks in your class power, which gives increased P/R.

Don't worry, you will be able to recruit them again, as if nothing had happened.
I'm almost sure that you will also be able to import this new save game in ME3, and they will be alive there, provided that they don't die in the second playtrough.

Speaking of New Game + in ME2, I have to say that it is the least rewarding of the entire trilogy. In ME1 and ME3, you start with as massive arsenal and a very high power level. In ME2, you don't even get the upgrades from the previous playtrough, and you are forced to do the planet scanning all over again...

Thanks folks.

Have added Zaeed's DLC. The gameplay is not great, just get some kind of kick playing commander shepard and am enjoying it :)

Edit: Btw I think I got to continue from max level achieved in the first playthru, further I got to choose an extra ability, which in my case was AP bullets. All my team mates too start from a high level (its probably the same as my level or minus the handicap received from the  ME1 import, didn't see it that closely) and had access to my entire arsenal from the last playthru (+the Cerberus arc DLC), once aboard the Normandy. The game even conserved my character display - helmets on with breathing filters. Am yet to figure research though.

And I am guessing that the NPCs too have the same high level... they are taking more bullets to the head than the last paythru, or maybe its just a matter of perception.

Don't do New game+ on ME2. Just import your save from ME1 again.

I learned this the hard way wanting to finish it on Hard mode then replay with new game+ on insanity. Yes my squad was fully leveled up. But all of the enemies had end game health and protections. LIke wise all the upgrades for the weapons were gone.

My poor mantis even with tatical cloak boosting sniper damage took 3-4 shots just to kill the vorcha on Omega during Morlan recuitment mission.

I found importing my save from ME1 again starting fresh on Insanity was much much easier.
