Hello everyone,

It's StarFlorge,

And today i have what i think is the best rogue build for many reasons, it's fun, it's epic, deals tons of damage and you survive. Given to me by Evelynne and then tweaked a tiny bit. I had to make this a video it deserves it. Stick around to the end of the video for the combat and also i have a small clip of killing a dragon with insane burst without lyrium potion, hope you all enjoy it and here it is:

:D

You should try it with Double Daggers sometime too, Whirling Blades hits so much that you can literally just spam it against any number of enemies.

Might make a Double Daggers video for it in the future then :)

Artificer is the only way to go.

Edit: I personally go with:

Leaping shot + shadow upgrade
Long shot + Damage upgrade
Explosive shot + Knock back

Throwing Blades + Damage upgrade

Evade + Shadow step upgrade
Shadow Strike + Range upgrade

Mark of the rift <--- More a panic nuke.
Aegis of the Rift <--- Life safer in JoH and Descent.

Then I put the rest of my points into the passives.

All in the Archery tree
Right hand of the Sabotage tree
All in the Artificer tree
Left hand of the subterfuge tree

Generally comes out as what.. 31 points. 27 levels + 3 power amulets + 1 perk = 31

Personally I prefer to use evade with the damage upgrade instead of poison mist, since I just don't like how it looks, but other than that my solo artificer build is pretty similar to yours. I was using a DW build with flank attack for insta stealth, and spinning blades for my other DPS ability, but ever since leaping shot got an insta stealth upgrade of its own with Trespasser, I find that it I greatly prefer it to a DW artificer.

That said, it's worth noting that a DW artificer will still ultimately out damage an archer build thanks to spinning blades and greater flanking damage, buuuut the archer is probably better for soloing with (especially with trials on) since it doesn't need to hug enemies to fight, which is a huge advantage once you get to JoH or that obnoxiously difficult multi stage battle in The Descent. lol (Oh, and fire/ice/shock mines from mages can be a gigantic pain for a DW artificer in the base game, so there's that too. :P)

*sigh*

Stop feeding my altoholism. Artificiers are so much fun, but I need to get my current mage playthrough done before I start another one. :P

Just for fun, have you tried the Artifice Bow with the elemental mines proc?

Hidden blades + Damage upgrade

Umm... How are you getting hidden blades on an artificer? or do you mean the masterwork?

Yeah, ended up going with Artificer because I wanted to shake things up a bit - purposefully selected the one specialization that by description I would have been least likely to select, especially for a dual dagger build.

It turned out great! Really fun to play, and takes care of both groups of enemies and bosses in short order.

As nice as stacks of elusive are, I can't help but think my character has bad gas when I spec for poison cloud.

I might just make another rogue to try this build out. :D

I think, however, that this time around I will leave out Leaping Shot --- I love the Hook &Tackle+Leaping Shot combo but I loathe, loathe the bug where you end up under the map, off the map, or somewhere extremely odd and game breaking. The only work around I've been able to find is to quickly switch POV to another character as they make the leap. Not a big deal, but not something I really want to deal with again.

I skip Hook & Tackle and use Evade for closing gaps between me/Varric and enemies instead. I also don't use Shadow Strike either once I've got my third tier gear made and am critting often enough that I never need to worry about stamina. Instead I sink the points from those two skills into the right hand side of the archery tree to grab Pincushion (you also get First Blood in doing so, which is a neat bonus). I find that it gives Leaping Shot quite a nice little boost, and all I lose in exchange are a couple of skills which are either less than useful in the late game, or just outright buggy. Not a bad trade imo.

Side note: I forget whether the damage bonus from Pincushion applies to Elemental Mines and/or Throwing Knives as well once it's been activated. I don't *think* it does, but since it does work with Spinning Blades from the DD tree, it might be worth experimenting with.

Just some suggestions for your rogue play through if you're looking to use Star's build, but want to avoid the H&T glitchfest. :P

I believe Pincushion does stack with Elemental Mines.

Yes any damage you do, even DoT from poision to Mark of the rift synergizes so well with pincushion. I gotta throw in my elemental explosions now lol. But from the start the mines do about 1500 to 2000 damage. Towards the end they start doing 5800 to 6400 damage thanks to pincushion :D
