Months ago I quit playing DA: I when Patch 6 broke the mods. Now here it is Patch 12, the mods for the most part are working. So, I decided to try playing the game again. Low and behold I spent hours of hard work and play to reach the Battle at Haven in the hopes of getting to SkyHold, only to be defeated by Bioware's inattentiveness towards PCs and PC players.

After the asinine singing, which I have heard several times in the last hour trying to get past the goddamn white screen. I have tried everything known to man and to other players of this freaking cursed game. And, I do mean every f.....g thing. And, as usual nothing f.....g works. What a waste of time and energy. I am so done with Bioware games. I will never again purchase another Bioware game. I don't care how well they are received by other hardcore Bioware gamers. Done!

Did you try uninstalling the mods? Because you say that the patch broke your mods....not the patch broke your game without mods....

Why is it Bioware's job to not break player mods? NO developer goes out of their way to ensure mods aren't broken with a patch; that's the modder's job. I say this as someone who uses mods for DAI and who wishes that they made DAI much more mod friendly.

That was months ago when patch 6 came out. I stopped playing. When I returned from my summer vacation I started playing again, knowing that some of the mods now worked. That was when it was still Patch 11. I was playing a game then. At that time I had six mods installed and it worked just fine, I got to Skyhold.  (The screen flashed white, but kicked in.) Then Patch 12 came out and I uninstalled the game and performed a clean install; and then reinstalled the same mods. This time, however, I cannot get past the white screen no matter what I do. And, I have done it all.

At this point I do not want to start again from scratch. Not only is it exceedingly time consuming to do so, but after all of the hard work that it took to get where I am in this game, starting over again sickens me. More importantly, it is not worth the stress. I have several other games I can play while I wait for Fallout 4 to come out next month. And, that game I know will play.

You mod your game, then complain it's "broken".  No sympathy.

The rule with modding is:  "Caveat lusor."

It isn't the mods that is broke the game. It didn't before Patch 12. Please re read my post. Thank you.

Once again, have you tried not installing the mods? Because it sounds like the mods that were made for pre-patch 6 were not functioning for patch 12. Yeah, as was said above; no sympathy for you. If you mod your game and it doesn't work, it's 100% all on you.

Try looking for mods that are stated to work with patch 12, and you should be fine.

Considering we don't have a massive uproar of no one being able to play up through Skyhold after patch 12, I'm pretty sure it's your mods. For the third time, have you tried it without mods?

I refuse to play without mods, or at the very least with the Inventory Capacity mod. These same mods were working fine with Patch 11. In fact, the "Inventory Capacity" mod failed to work with Patch 11, yet I was able to get through to Skyhold. When I installed the "Inventory Capacity" mod with Patch 12 it worked. Now I can't get to Skyhold. To be honest, I am awfully tired of fighting with it. It is too damn depressing. I will just go back to not playing DA: I like I did a few months ago. I was just hoping against hope that it would work. But such is not to be. I'll spend time playing Mass Effect 3 single/multiplayer until Fallout 4 comes out. As it is I can still play All the Fallout games to include Skyrim. That said I apologize for my complaining about DA: !.

The game developers are under NO obligation to make it work, (or keep it working) with whatever mods you happen to be using.

Re-read my  post:  Caveat Lusor.

You might have better luck if you directed your comments to the authors of the mods that are no longer working.

well, since you seem to be made out of Teflon when it comes to advise ... don't let the door hit you on your way out.

and maybe let the mod maker know that the mods you use don't work so they can fix it if they are still working on them? Just a thought. Also, try getting to Skyhold without mods and then reinstall it again.

I don't care how well they are received by other hardcore Bioware gamers. Done!

There is no hardcore Bioware gamers now, they all left (and I should too). Now what we have is fans of Bioware lame writting. Their games died a long ago, all that's left now is a bunch of virtual books with hundreds of hours of useless optional bullsh*t for you to perform between the chapters.

Well, I certainly won't. Thanks for your unwanted advice, though.

Boy, isn't that the truth. I have also noticed how they tend to cater to consoles now, as well. Fortunately we have Bethesda who has yet to leave us PC games in the shitter. But, that too may change. Personally I fell out of favor with Bioware after Dragon Age 2. Mass Effect was different all together.

well, you come here, whine about mods crashing your game, people tell you to try it with no mods and you refuse. What else do you want? Your mods do not work with the current patch and it's not Bioware's fault. It's that simple

It is just at that cut scene of Solas' Revelation/Finding Skyhold is the problem. No where else in the game have I had problems with cut scenes.

You could try not playing the game with mobs? Thats doing something at least instead of complaining about how your mods aren't working....

If I uninstall the mods the game won't play. Which means that I would have to start a whole new game, followed by several days of playing to get back to that exact same point,  with no guarantees.

I am not complaining about how the mods are not working, but rather how the damn game stalls at the cut scene where Solas leads the Inquisitor to Skyhold. Thus, the game is stalled. Perhaps I should convince myself that the games ends at the Battle of Haven?!?

I did notice awhile ago when I tried lowering all of my setting and crap to see if that would work and as I was watching the game start up, right after you click on the screen and the game starts to load it flashed white. Just saying.

Gonna point something here: modders constantly update their mods for the latest patches. It's not devs job to keep the mod supported, but the modders. Do not forget that DA:I has no official mod support (DA2 was the same in that regard).

I play modded Crusader Kings 2 and Europa Universalis IV and i had my share of mods in the Total War series, Elder Scrolls series and Fallout series (and not only). The real good modders always update their mods to be compatible with the latest patch (reason why the good/great mods are rare, as people are always abandoning them after a while).

So, be patient and wait for the updated mod.

P.S.: if a patch modfies something that is used by a mod (assests, resources, etc), the mod needs to be updated. Again, that falls ito the modder's part of the job.

Origin makes modding a lot harder, as the client deploys automatically the patches. For DA:O, DA2, ME retail editions you could play the game without Origin and you had a great choice in not deploying a patch. You could stay on the unpatched version, until your favorite mods were updated. If you want to blame something, blame the Origin client and the people that are forcing that atrocity on you (EA).

The game stalls at that particular scene because of mods though. I had the same problem with one of my saves a couple of weeks ago. I disabled the mods before I spoke to Gisele in the camp, the cutscene triggered fine and as soon as I got to Skyhold I re-enabled the mods. No problems after that. If you can't open your save because it tells you it was using a newer patch version try updating the package.mft file in your Update file so it says Version 13 instead of 12.

Later I managed to go through that scene with some mods on, but not all. I think for me the problem was the Skyhold Outfit mod I was using, so you could also try just disabling that one.

That's just because you don't understand how to handle things after having installed and removed mods.

[Hint: Increment version.  Protip: Google is your friend.]

If you can't be bothered to learn how to adapt when you decide to use mods and things go sideways, that's on you.

Once again... Caveat Lusor.
