The problem with games that don't have offical mod support typically comes back to once you put mods on a game they will either work well for a time, or break the game.

Another problem that typically happens is that the mods even once removed have caused changes to base files of the game, thus meaning you either need to repair the files of the game, or do a completely clean reinstell of the game and don't use mods...till the mod makers can offer support for the latest version of the game and all its dlc

You basically roll the dice in the end

To fix this:  uninstall all of your mods, "repair" the game from the Origin client, get past the point where you are stuck, then re-merge in the mods.

I think you are missing the "repair" step, which will reset your game back to an official install.

Are you using the latest version of the mod manager?  Did you remember to use Force Rescan of Patch?  Are you using any mods listed as broken by DAI Modding Central?  Have you tried playing without mods?

Interesting...  I have my profile set to send me an email when there's a reply to one of my posts.

Got this a little while ago:

Jallard (http://forum.bioware...546135-jallard/) has just posted a reply to a topic that you have subscribed to titled "Now I know the second reason why I quit playing DA: I!".

If you can't be bothered to learn how to adapt when you decide to use mods and things go sideways, that's on you.
Once again... Caveat Lusor.

I know how to work and troubleshoot mods. I probably have 30 or more mods attached to DAO, FO3, FNV, Skyrim and DA2. So, kiss my ass.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

But now that post seems to have gone missing.

Anyway, this was my reaction:

"Wow! 30 whole mods for DAO, FO3, FNV, Skyrim, and DA2?!?  That's an average of about, what... six apiece?

Pfffffft... Amateur.  I run with well over 100 for DAO alone.

And the number of mods one installs has ZERO bearing on one's understanding of how they operate, or how to correct things when they don't.  (As your current difficulties would only go to show.)

You  brought your issue to a public forum, you received a ton of good advice about how to address it, and all you've done in return is whinge.  Guess that's really all you wanted to do.

I know all about that. Been there, done it and bought the T-Shirt along with it.

Actually, DAO has more 60 mods attached to it. Going back and counting the mods in Skyrim, I have close to 65 or 70. As for FO3 and FNV combined I have roughly 130 or more mods attached to those games.

This isn't a competition about who runs more mods.. jeez.

You are making this more complicated than it is, for you and everyone else.

Problem: clearly one of your mods does not go well with the Skyhold scene.. so you have 3 choices:

1- you can cry about it and keep whining and say the game sucks etc etc and all that you are doing now... (which is the stupidest solution)

2- Be patient and wait for the mod to be fixed/updated (but this is boring..)

3- Do the only other thing you can do if you want to keep playing NOW.. Disable your mods or learn how to disable them without making the save file unopenable... DO that scene.. Then re-enable them and keep playing.

Which option you choose is up to you but I think nr 3 is the only reasonable one (besides it's probably the only real solution you can find).

Writing here makes no sense because no one can solve the problem for you :/

Of course you are right. I have never attempted to disable the mods. That step I have not taken. Then again, I don't know how to disable the mods without causing the save file unable to open? The fat of the matter is I have no clue when it comes to managing mods with DA: I. It is all foreign to me. I can make my own mods with the Creation Kit, but that is the extent of it. Managing mods for DAO I can handle as well. DA: I is a complicated nightmare. Thank you though for shinning a light on my ineptitude.

The soluition was given on the first page.  Just increase the patch number yourself.  Then delete your merged patch and launch the game.  The tumblr DAI Modder Central has step by step instructions.  Here you will also find a list of mods that have been broken by patches, and the download for the Tools Suit Loader.  You MUST have this in order to mod - it's the only way to get the updated mod manager.  And for patch 11 you must select 'Force Rescan of Patch'.

And stop being rude to people who are trying to help you.

Oh, I didn't mean to sound like I know it all, trust me. If I knew how to help you I would :P I've also just started using mods so I'm probably even less expert than you if you say you can make your own mods.

However the few times I have disabled or removed mods, I never needed to do anything extra, I just moved the mods from the folder where they were to another on the desktop, and then re-opened the Mod manager and clicked Merge when the list was empty, and the game always went back to normal. I never needed to change patch number or manually delete the Patch folder or so.  Then I readded them when needed by repeating the process.

Now I wasn't using any heavy or intrusive mods but just a few hair styles/skins and face complexions, and a Trespasser schematics mod.
I don't know if with other mods (inventory, etc, like the ones you are using) which maybe impact the game more, the save will be unopenable.. but if that is the case it seems Illyria has provided a solution for you so just do that :)

Good luck :P

So you use unstable mods, and then blame bioware when your game doesn't work properly? Seems legit.

So you assume that the mods that I am using are unstable, especially when you are unaware of what mods that I am using?

Just so you know, I am using the following mods that work, in so far as I know:

1.  Inquisitor Leather Trousers
2.  Inventory Capacity  :)
3.  HD Eyes  :)
4.  Longer Fuller Lashes  :)
5.  UnlockSpecs  :)

These are now the only mods that I am using. I  have read nothing to the contrary that they are or are not working. I am clueless as to how the mods for DA: I are made. I am more familiar with the Creation Kit and know very little of DAO's Toolset. But I know some how to troubleshoot mods created by the Creation Kit and the Toolset.

Hi,

Do you have the Trespasser DLC? Some other people have problems with the Specializations mod (the one on the nexus) and the mod author seems to suspect that it could be connected to the DLC (the mod was made after its release).

Edit: I don't know which inventory mod you are using, but the most downloaded one on the nexus hasn't been updated in awhile and users are reporting crashes in their games.

No, I don't have the Trespasser DLC, I just have the DA: I deluxe version of the game along with the Black Emporium and the Jaws of Hakkon.

The one that I am using is the one that was redone by someone else. I have chatted with the original developer of that mod and he stopped working on it and playing DA: I.

The thing of it is these same mods worked when it was Patch 11.

It is just at that cut scene of Solas' Revelation/Finding Skyhold is the problem. No where else in the game have I had problems with cut scenes.

I can't remember the mod that caused this but I do remember it was fixed, maybe you need to get the updated version. Also are you using the up to date mod manager, last I checked it was ver.59.

It was HD Eye Textures that was causing the Solas-Skyhold scene to go white for some people and yep, it was fixed and updated.

Have you tried disabling just that mod and testing whether it fixes the white screen problem anyway?

ETA

There's a thread on The Nexus here for the Skyhold-Solas crash. It recommends making a clean merged patch to fix it. Just the official patch, no mods. Seems to have helped alot of players get past this particular scene. Once in Skyhold just re-merge your mods again.

No, it is NOT "Patch 12". There is no Patch 12. And the fact that you call it that is just one more example of how you don't understand DAI mods, and appear to have no interest in learning how to use them.

If you can't be bothered, why should we?
