The game developers are under NO obligation to make it work, (or keep it working) with whatever mods you happen to be using.

Re-read my  post:  Caveat Lusor.

You might have better luck if you directed your comments to the authors of the mods that are no longer working.

Isn't it Caveat Ludor? Or am I mistaken?

No, it is NOT "Patch 12". There is no Patch 12. And the fact that you call it that is just one more example of how you don't understand DAI mods, and appear to have no interest in learning how to use them.

If you can't be bothered, why should we?

Well, then why does it say, Title: Official Patch / Version: 12  / Author: Bioware.  Patch.daimod / Patch_ModManagerMerge file within the update folder.

As far as you thinking that I am not willing to learn is subject to your sticking attitude towards me personally. You are not a very good teacher. Thank you.

You mentioned an issue with your game not working after the lastest patch and stating that you modded the game. We offered a solution, namely to reset to the base game, ensure that it is working in that cutscene, then reinstall/remerge mods. This has been suggested numerous times. You have NOT done this even though it's not difficult and step by step walkthroughs are provided (plus if you had questions on how to do it, we'd be happy to help you). You are not willing to learn.

Oh, I nearly forgot. For the umpteenth time, mods working on a previous patch has no relevance to the current patch. Not breaking a different version of the game has no bearing on whether or not they break this verson of the game.

ok, I'll try to help here, if you use any kind of eye mod's, any kind, remove it. it somehow interferes with cutscenes.

I had the same problem when trying to get in skyhold a time ago

ah, there it is, had not seen this picture, on the third line, "HD eye texture", this mod interfere with cutscenes, just remove it.

and just for the record, the next time the game stops working, and you have mods installed, do the test with one mod at a time until you FIND out  which mod is interfering with the game, and avoid raging in the forums.

Over a week ago, before Bioware's latest update, I was at the point where Solas and the Inquisitor turn and the cutscene begins when the screen flashed white for second, but played through. With this latest update the screen stays white. At that time I was only aware that the issue was an nVidia problem from the past few months ago. When I said that I tried everything I meant regarding that and not the mods. So, I was trying to troubleshoot that aspect. Even then a few months ago it would work in one game, but wouldn't work in the next game.

Once again, I will uninstall the game and do a fresh install and reinstall the the mods save for the HD Eyes and the Longer Fuller Lashes mods; plus, I will not in stall the Inquisitor Leather Trouser mod either.. In all honesty the only mod that I care about is the Inventory Capacity mod, which is working. Thank you.

The patch number is always one higher than the official patch.  The patch we are currently on is patch 11.

Just a general note:

If you are wondering why you were met with such hostility it is because your initial post and all your subsequent posts through the second page are filled with hostility themselves. Like breeds like. If you want constructive help I would recommend posting your issue in a constructive way and asking for help rather than saying 'I'm Done, Bioware sux!' and insulting and ignoring people who come in and try to help you.

On the first page many people were suggesting you disable mods, but rather than saying you were unaware of how to do this you lashed out and said it was Bioware's fault that your mod broke.

I am glad you got this issue resolved, but next time instead of ranting and refusing to listen to advice try to behave in a constructive manner. This thread could have been solved in 5-6 posts had it not started with needless hostility.

With any luck DA4 will be much more mod friendly, or at the very least the community will be familiar enough with Frostbite that issues like this will occur less frequently.

I intend to stay away from DA4. I am no friend of the Frostbite engine. I sure as heck hope they don't use it for the next Mass Effect, because I will stay away from that game as well. I am currently on pins and needles waiting for Fallout 4. That game I know will be mod friendly. I remember when Skyrim first game out and there were already several mods available. I have never played a vanilla game of any of Bethesda's two games genres: Fallout and Elder Scrolls. Dragon Age Origins was an awesome game and people are still creating mods for it.

I think what it is with Bioware is that they really want to create (arcade) console games, but are afraid to dismiss the PC player. Either that or they are afraid of losing that profit margin. However, I could be wrong. Still, that is how I feel about it.

BioWare has already declared that they will use the FB engine for all AAA games.  It's already owned by EA (via DICE) so no licensing fees, and provides built-in cross-platform (consoles and PC) and multi-player capability, as well as several other next-gen features.  Don't like it?  Oh well...

On the other topic:  As noted above, the DAI game version number (on PCs) is always greater than the Patch number because there was a hotfix for PCs issued between Patch 2 and Patch 3.  But that's a separate issue from the numbering that has to be used if you're modding your game.

EVERY TIME you create a new "merge" file and play, it increments the internal version number that your game believes is the "current" one.  Which is what I told you to investigate way back in one of my first replies, but which you ignored and instead continued to whinge.  Right now I have to tell my game it's running version 14 in order to load a recent save, and I know people who are well into the 20's for their installs.

Again:  Google is your friend.

I believe "lusor" is the correct noun for the purpose.

And I find its alternative meaning highly appropriate for referring to one who mods a game!

player: scaenicus, histrio, cantor, actor, scenicus, lusor

gambler: aleo, lusor, aleator

(The homophonic relationship to "loser" is purely accidental!)

Once again I point you towards DAI Modder Central on tumblr.  This has step-by-step instructions on how to mod, disable mods and change the patch number yourself.  It also has lists of mods that are broken by later patches, several regularly maintained masterlists and conpendiums and a mod issue submit form where they will help you with your mod problems.  They also have a gmail address should you wish to contact them with issues directly.

12.  That's the number for patch 11.  A modded patch will be number 13. Mod manager should be .59.

If in doubt delete your merged patch and patch file and hit 'repair game' in origin

If I uninstall the mods the game won't play. Which means that I would have to start a whole new game, followed by several days of playing to get back to that exact same point,  with no guarantees.

Well, the fact that nobody that isn't using mods hasn't complained about not being able to make it to Skyhold, that pretty much amounts to as much a guarantee as you can give in any piece of software, that if you tried it without mods, you'd make it to Skyhold no problem, just like everyone else has.

I do understand your frustration with your situation, but it's not Bioware's job to ensure that the game works with every mod out there, after every patch - it is a risk taken by anyone using a mod that the game may not work after a patch, or at least until the maker of the mod in question has released a new version compatible with the newest patch.

So it may suck to be in that position, but you're dishing out the blame at the wrong target.

If I were you, I'd either research options like possibly rolling back to an earlier patch, if that's possible, and if not, maybe ask whoever made the mod to make a version compatible with the latest mod. If those don't pan out, then I'd just suck it up, remove the offending mod, and start a new game.

I have already done that. Secondly, way back in January or February and up until today I had an NVidia GeForce OEM GT 635 video card that was factory installed. As a direct result DELL does not continuously update the drivers beyond one year. And, you cannot find drivers on NVidia’s website either, for OEMs. At that time there were “White Screen” issues, at the same spot, related to NVidia cards. At that particular time I was not aware that is was also the mods until Patch 6. In May I went on a summer hiatus to New England and did not return until mid-September.  At no time while I was on vacation was I near my PC to play DA: I. You can’t be in two places at once, at a distance of 3500 miles.

When I returned home to Oregon I decided it was time to upgrade my video card with the anticipation of Fallout 4 coming out in November. So this morning UPS dropped of my new GeForce GTX 750 video card, of which it is now installed and working: and, with the current drivers, that became available a week ago.

Currently I am playing a new game, having uninstalled it and completing a fresh install. As of right now I only have two mods installed. Increased Inventory Capacity and the Unlock Specializations mods. Perhaps tomorrow, if I play the game long enough I will complete the Battle at Haven and we will see if I make it through to Skyhold.  That said, I will not hold my breath in wild anticipation.

PS

Incidentally, I also made certain that the following were set to 1:

Are you actually using the Increased Inventory mod that's been updated for patch 8 onwards?  Is your speicalisation mod actually compatible with later patches of the game?  Are you using mod manager .59?  Do you check for updates regualy with the DAI Tools Suit loader? Did you use Force Rescan of Patch the first time you merged with patch 11?   I'm sorry to keep repeating myself but I need to know what steps you've already taken or I can't help you.  The implication I'm getting from your posts is that you're using outdated mods, and your lack of knowledge about DAI modding leads me to believe that you're not using the Tools Suit Loader (which, as I've stated before, is nessessary for DAI modding).

You can install your game and change graphics as much as you like but without the things I've mentioned your game will not work.
