I just hope that BioWare can keep some consistency with the "rules" this time. Just look at the sentinel list in multiplayer...

Baseline human is an adept with extra defense.
Paladin is one of the best engineers in the game.
Krogan barely qualifies depending on whether or not you consider a grenade to be a "true" biotic ability.
Krogan warlord is a vanguard in every sense of the word.
Batarian barely qualifies but still tends to play like a vanguard.
Vorcha has two combat powers and what is almost certainly pre-packaged biotics prepared for him by someone else.
Valkyrie is in the same boat as the default human.
Volus is a straight-up engineer.

Granted, this was only really a problem in MP. But still...

I didn't find this is to be a problem at all. The primary characteristic of sentinel is having a defensive power. Then being allowed a mixture of tech and/or biotic and/or melee abilities. Then it is flavored by the species. Of course an Asari Sentinel is going to be focused on biotics. Of course a Krogan sentinel is going to be focused on combat. Each multiplayer kit should feel unique. To me they all felt like Sentinels with a pleasing mix of lore (class and race) combining with combat mechanics.

I agree I don't find any of them off theme personally. But I'd like them to tighten things up for what is possible in the lore. Not all from MP but it has the biggest number IMO.

WTF is the backstab thing with the N7 shadow. Shadow strike cool name. How the eff is she teleporting across the map? Biotic dodges through walls.. Heck the entire poison strike biotic charge. Dominate as a biotic power instead of a racial one. Reave hey dot primer+detonator I get. Why is it buffing your barriers? Make it fit the lore instead of going heh vampire powers are cool.

The whole lore thing never bothered me.

I'd definitely rather have amazing abilities than lore. Gameplay>lore considering gameplay is what keeps people going..

With that said, I wouldn't think it would be so hard to just create lore for those old abilities.

N7 Fury was a beast. Teleporting through walls was insanely fun. Please give us more classes like that. MP was awesome whenever they introduced new abilities - not regurgitated ones like quite a few from Batarians/vorcha.

I'd like to have some melee class. Being able to throw some biotic kicks or punches. Or even use omni-blades to fight. Wishful thinking, I know. It's probably not going to happen, but it would be a damn fun to play.

I know they're silly but I wouldn't mind a single player class based on the N7 Shadow.

Me too! Being a phantom would be fun.

My FemShep is a vanguard. I like it, but I'd still like to have some true melee class.

outside of some kind of raging biotic freak of nature (Jack) I don't see how being melee only is really viable in this setting.

While I don't agree with the class, the N7 shadow in MP does this with a huge dose of bullcrapium. It doesn't bother me as much in MP, because it is kind of like the extended universe in star wars. Sorta canon.

But in the SP game I don't want to see classes teleporting around the battlefield with super death melee attacks. Teleportation just doesn't fit he lore, and they broke the lore more than enough already without it. It doesn't fit the setting. Biotic charge sure, cloaking and running up to them go for it. Swords doing more damage than guns just because I'm not for though. Now a biotic or tech strike that happens to have melee range can be powerful, more powerful than ranged ones even.

I think its doable overall, but it should be hard to play as ranged combat should be the go to choice in this setting.

Hah, yeah, same here.I'm not sure how fully melee class could work in games like Mass Effect where weapons do most of the talking. Although, while I was playing DE:HR I never, even once (outside boss fights, naturally), fired a weapon. And sometimes I was forced to fight, because enemies detected me. Fights were really tough, yet I could finish them using only melee attacks.
In ME though, we have kinetic shields and biotic barriers. It would be definitely easier to fight in melee with these additions and kinetic barriers only protect from bullets, so again. There's a chance we could still hurt our enemy by some falcon punch.

I think the six classes are fine, they cover a wide variety of options from stealth in the infiltrator class to the "mage" class in adept. I would like a medic type class though, none of the classes really have an advantage in healing.

I hope they do completely new classes. I would be disappointed if they just revisited the old classes and added a few new things. Ideally they just give you a clean slate and you can make your own custom classes.
