I just hope that BioWare can keep some consistency with the "rules" this time. Just look at the sentinel list in multiplayer...
Baseline human is an adept with extra defense.
Paladin is one of the best engineers in the game.
Krogan barely qualifies depending on whether or not you consider a grenade to be a "true" biotic ability.
Krogan warlord is a vanguard in every sense of the word.
Batarian barely qualifies but still tends to play like a vanguard.
Vorcha has two combat powers and what is almost certainly pre-packaged biotics prepared for him by someone else.
Valkyrie is in the same boat as the default human.
Volus is a straight-up engineer.
Granted, this was only really a problem in MP. But still...
I didn't find this is to be a problem at all. The primary characteristic of sentinel is having a defensive power. Then being allowed a mixture of tech and/or biotic and/or melee abilities. Then it is flavored by the species. Of course an Asari Sentinel is going to be focused on biotics. Of course a Krogan sentinel is going to be focused on combat. Each multiplayer kit should feel unique. To me they all felt like Sentinels with a pleasing mix of lore (class and race) combining with combat mechanics.
