I am sure that some people in the BSN have to love creating and trying new character skill builds as much as I do, so I thought it would be a great idea to open a thread for it. I have been creating builds using the skill calculator website (http://www.rpg-gaming.com/daisc.html) and I really wanted to share some of the builds I have made.

Here is my newest Rift Mage Build:

http://www.rpg-gamin...35a40153363a757

I chose to use the Winter Tree a lot because it really compliments the Rift Mage specialization and it is so much fun to use Stone Fist to shatter enemies. I used some of the new upgrades from the Trespasser DLC in this build. I use Chilling Array (for Ice Mine) and Winter's Ruin to combo for massive damage and Chilling Array works really well with Ice Armour to give you 50% damage resistance whenever you need it.

I took the Energetic Defence upgrade for my Barrier to help out my companions and I skipped Chaotic focus in the Inferno Tree because I have heard that there is a bug where it makes Fire Mine do less damage (can anyone confirm this?) I used the original upgrades for everything else.

So for gameplay: I open up most fights with Pull of the Abyss and put a Fire Mine in the centre, then put up a Barrier for everyone and send my warrior(s) in using Tactical Camera. I use Ice Mine mostly for defence; I will put up some mines and stand on one to get Ice Armour and to catch any assassins that try to backstab me. I also use it offensively for huge mobs and to combo with Winters Grasp/Winter's Ruin. I use Stone Fist to shatter frozen enemies and weaken them. I usually run around with two warriors (1 S/S and 1 2H)  and an Archer Rogue to help me shatter enemies as well as do major damage to my enemies. Wow, this is way longer than I thought... Lol.

Anyway, I would love to know what you guys think of my build and what kind of builds you have come up with. I have also been working on a few other builds and I will share then after I have had the chance to test them out.

And this is the first thread that I have made, so be nice. :)

Edit: I would upload some gameplay, but my Inquisitor is halfway through Trespasser and I don't want to spoil anything for anyone.

I'd actually take Storm on my Rift Mage (personally that is). The Multi-Hit nature of the Tree takes a lot of advantage from Restorative Veil if you can maintain Weakness on your targets. Not to mention if you're running Varric as your Rogue you'll be doing him a huge favor if you happen to run Crit Chance on top of all of this.

Between Gathering Storm and Clean Burn you'll always have something to cast and the number of hits from all of your abilities will guarantee the mana to cast said spells.

You could honestly solo Trespasser with Storm on a Rift Mage just because of all the damage and CC.

My last Rift Mage was a Storm Mage and I agree that the Storm Tree works really well with the Rift Mage spec. I would always combine Pull of The Abyss and Static Cage to trap huge mobs and deal lots of damage. This whole build idea came from me discovering the new toggle upgrades for the Winter Tree and wanting to try something new with my mage.

And I think your link is broken, it just sends me back to this page.

I agree with the frost tree - rift mage.

Though I take energy barrage with a Frost staff, chill the enemy with EB and then 1000% crit hit them with Winter's Grasp

Rift Mage

That is the only changes I'd make to your build. Energy barage and upgraded frost step for when they get close. Gives an instant chill set up.

My artificer build:

Artificer

The two blank spots are for Mark of the Rift and Aegis of the rift. Found Aegis to be a life saver on higher difficulties against the archers.

And another: Blackwall 2H

I thought about taking Energy Barrage and using an ice staff but in the end, I didn't have enough ability slots. I actually did upgrade Fade Step when I had an extra point but I took the new toggle upgrade to help regenerate some mana because I already had Ice Mine to combo with Winter's Grasp for 1000% damage.

That is a great build for an Artificer. I have thought about trying an Artificer Archer but I just haven't gotten around to it yet. I did try a Dual Dagger Artificer and I had so much fun with it. I think my next character is going to have to be an Artificer that dabbles in poisons and uses Hook and Tackle a lot. I am curious about how Hook and Tackle will work with the close range traps and Leaping Shot. I will have to try it sometime.

my favorite mage combos are still the both ridiculously stupid firemine inferno flame array with the inferno pact belt + walking bomb masterwork on armour with virulent passive on necro= 3x 18-25K damage on average and proc masterwork for 18K spirit damage dots and virulent spread of those number once the target dies. or lightning = storm pact belt, great bear sigil or lyrium potion for extra mana to get off a lightning static cage followed by a walking bomb cast and while the mana has not been deducted yet for the wb just cast 2 or 3 energy barrages (with or without 100% damage upgrade in quick succession). That usually killed anything, and had the added bonus of ignoring the wb cast mana cost and cooldown and allowing you to recast the wb to finish a target of and spread it on higher difficulties/ levels with double hp pool enemies, and that burst combo reduces dragon hp by about 40-50% in the opening 10 seconds of the fight alone. Of course the first involves clever crafting and the second a very knowledgable explot of game ability casting mechanics.

You've really taken an underrated class and made it op on par with the Burst damage a rogue can do. This has to be my favorite Mage build. Now I can deliver Great Justice for Thedus.

http://forum.bioware...lades-rogue-20/My build /w video. It is very skill-intensive but I succeeded in my goal to have all my attacks be ranged + non-weapon specific.

Necro firemine as already stated is indeed very fun and powerful. The frostrift build does look fun aswell. Currently looking for inspiration for a final build before I wait for DA4, hard to decide but I think it will be a DPS warrior. Personally I detest any build that uses game breaking skills that removes challenge completely. Like the new rolling attack for warrior, mark of death, tempest ulti etc.

Hmm... Interesting. I may have to try this with my Necromancer Inky.

This is a really good build as well. I really love seeing all the builds that you guys come up with. Keep up the good work :)

And how did you only have 28 skill points at level 27? I think I had about 30 with my mage.

Here's my imaginatively named Melee Assassin build.

The idea behind this build is to use Spinning Blades to build up Pincushion before following up with a big attack like Hidden Blades.
I've managed to pump out about 1 or 2k per hit on basic attacks after both Spinning and Hidden Blades as well.

This isn't my best work but here's my build in action albeit with Deathblow as Trespasser wasn't downloaded, thus no Poisoned Weapons.

Here my KE build at max level 27 (total 30 point, original 27 skill point plus benefit  +1 from Human, +1 from perk, +1 from amulet)
It seem Chaotic Focus bug only on Flaming Array, but I though it worth because immolate upgraded still got benefit from it.

pick-up skill
1. Immolate (upgrade to Wildfire)
2. Fire mine (upgrade to Flaming array)
3. Winter grasp (upgrade to Winter ruin)
4. Fade Step
5. Ice Mine (upgrade to Chilling array )
6. Spirit Blade (upgrade to Amplified blade)
7. Fade Cloak (upgrade to Decloaking blast)
8. Energy Barrage

you would probably deal more damage though with ice array+mindblast (detonate) combo then winter's grasp as in shorter cooldowns but wg is good too.

*snip*

This is a great Assassin build. I never even thought about taking Pincushion with a dagger rogue. That is genius. I may have to try that with my Tempest.

Does pin coushin actually work with a Dual wield build? Would be certainly interesting if it does.

Yes. It's weapon agnostic.

Too lazy to find power amulets? ;)
