I think multiple protagonists would only be worthwhile if each protagonist was quite distinct from each other. If they're both two player defined humans in the same crew I don't really see much point.

GTA V and Tales from the Borderlands are the two games that come to mind for me when multiple protagonists are mentioned, and they are both examples of that. The multiple protagonists in each game are very different from one another.

It's an interesting idea but I don't think they'll do it. If they made it from the beggining to work that way it'd be cool. Like how in many books you see things from different points of view or for example it seems Halo 5 is doing it, having two teams and telling the story from those two points of view.

I don't think they'll do it for this one, but an Bioware game could try that in the future. The point here is, that the story has to be made with this in consideration you can't just tack on another protag midway through development of the story without changing everything.

Only if it worked with co-op.

And Co-Op usually sucks and takes away from the game.

...

I'll be all for a Bioware game exploring the idea of dual protagonists but as you say, I'd like for the story to be made with this in mind. It'll allow for the idea to be better explored, in my mind.

A bonus for me would a game where a common trope that sometimes crop up in discussions about player characters is explored: Namely, that sometimes the actions of the protagonist view is viewed in a fairer light than the same actions done for the same reason but by a non-protagonist character.

I'd be interested in seeing a game where you play as two people on two different sides whose actions affect the other and their side perhaps with the addition that the two characters do not interact personally but can seriously impact each other's life. Two of the potential endings could be, if the criterias are met met, mutually assured destruction or peace that may or not be semi-stable depending upon the actions of amongst others, the two protagonists.

Doesn't Divinity original sin do this? It was kind of weird when both protagonists argued since you had control over both. It seems like the sequel will be taking this all the way.
