Am I the only one who wants to see it? It sounds amazing an collection of all of the peoples in Thedas gathered in one spot, Tevinter Magisters next to Orlesian Chevaliers watched by Antivan Assassins all the while mercenaries of every stripe and color from all corners of the globe gather to partake in the various events, sounds pretty awesome.

I thought it would have been a good DLC for DA2. It would be a way to flesh out the otherwise interchangeable Free Marcher cities and be a more lighthearted adventure than most of the other quests Hawke fell into. Of course, being Hawke, there would still be some ancient evil sponsoring one of the entrants and Hawke would end up causing the entire tourney field to explode...

Yes! And I'd love to fight in the Grand Tourney!

They should've made it a DLC in DA:I. The leader of this new upstart organization fighting some of the best from each country to prove the Inquisition is back and not to be treated lightly. What a way to show players the different cultures in Thedas also. Also a good place to make some old companions return to fight like aveline or sebastian

I hope that they are saving it for a plot point in a future game (likely not DA4 since I don't think that it would make sense given what we know). I'd love to get a chance to compete in it. Also, seems like a natural place to recruit a new companion as well. Rival turned ally is a reliable standby for a companion and we've not seen too many of them in DA.

Just please don't set it in backwaters like the Free Marches or Ferelden.

The Free Marches should not be important enough for something like this. And its got too many mountains for a tourney.
And I read that the most recent one was held in Nevarra, which makes sense because its a centrally located kingdom.

Yesss, I would love to see this come to life in the next DA game.

The Grand Tourney is always held in the Free Marches. Codex:
The Grand Tourney is the oldest, and perhaps only, tradition of the Free Marches. On those rare, one-in-a-thousand days when a Contest of Arms may be called, every Marcher unites in fellowship to witness the birth of a new champion.
Contestants come from all over Thedas. Minrathous alone always sends no fewer than two dozen entrants hoping to claim the honor for the Imperium. Once, the champion was an Avvar mountain man. Twice in a row, it was Talisa of Sundarin, a lady knight from the Anderfels—which scandalized the crowd, created endless drama amongst the participants, and therefore got her declared the "Most-Loved Champion in the History of the Tourney".
Each champion is presented a crown of sage leaves and a sword. The leaves wither, of course, as a reminder that all victories are fleeting, but the blade, Celebrant, endures and has passed from champion to champion since the first, inscribed with the names of each victor, a reminder that legend is eternal.

Well, given the codex I just quoted, Tevinter always sends "no fewer than two dozen entrants hoping to claim the honor for the Imperium." So it's possible for DA4.
Really, though, I think the opportunity has passed. We've had it mentioned, and Blackwall was in it before and talks a bit about it.

EDIT: Well, due to the post below, I stand corrected. That being said, I still want to see a Grand Tourney (wherever) at some point and would like them to add in Ostwick's cheese-wheel racing as a competitive event.

The most recent Grand Tourney was held in the Nevarran city of Cumberland and was sponsored by Rainier Aehernthal, a merchant of impressive means.

That looks like the source material is from the tabletop system designed for Dragon Age, so in the case of conflicting information, I trust the in-game codex over a third party PnP source book. If anything, the tabletop system could have forgotten that Nevarra had gained independence from the Free Marches and was once considered a Marcher state

Simple solution.
Even though it isn't directly mentioned, assume that Cumberland was a Marcher City-state and only been conquered in the last two centuries but is still considered a Free Marcher state...
Although, even then that does sound weird given that the whole idea of the Grand Tourney is that it is to celebrate the one common trait among the free marchers; theirindependence thus it really, REALLY makes no sense that the Grand tourney would be held in a Neverran city aka "we are currenly on an expansionistic gobble up all the toher city states"
Yeah...forget what I said...the more I think of it, the more it makes no sense that the Grand tourney is held in Cumberland...
