We've all theorycrafted to some extend, otherwise we wouldn't be here on the BSN, but I got to thinking about some.... unorthodoxed builds lately and figured it would be fun to have a thread where we share and discuss odd builds.

I thought I'd start it off with something silly, though probably effective.

I've seen AR TGIs, SR TGIs, and melee TGIs... but what about an AOE TGI?

Build: http://kalence.drupa...53Z51364!9389CG

I'm not denying that there are better TGIs, we've all played one, but I'm thinking I've never seen one designed for AOE, usually aimed at single target DPS.

How about some Incendiary Ammo Falcon with Chain Overload? Yes? No? PUG Status confirmed?

AHless Fury w/Black Widow and Geth Scanner.

Cloakless Asari Infiltrator with a Venom, Shield Power Cells, and Warp Ammo. (Yup warp ammo, no ammo primed detonations.)

Volus Merc Sent with Typhoon and Incendiary. Shock and Detonation on both Drone/Decoy.

Turian Saboteur. Flamer Turret, Homing Grenades. Get good at priming with turret then grenading whatever was primed.

Devastatorless N7Destroyer. Hydra Missiles, sidehops, and Multifrags for ALL!

I just went through the GE builds in the character guide library before I saw your post. There's a long discussion about using the falcon as a primer as opposed to a "direct" dmg weapon like the GPS.

I like the idea of using the falcon over the venom and reaping the AR damage bonus but with overload I would probably go with cryo rounds. This isn't a boss lawnmower build anyway.

Also why not take the damage bonus at rank 4 of cloak? For objective purposes? I never understood the value of duration over damage at that evolution. The 5 second cloak is always enough to dump aggro when I do devices.

Excellent taste I´d say :D. I love the Falcon as it is the gun which gave me some of the most hilarious moments in this game staggering whole groups and setting up bank shots. It is still one of my all-time favorites, but I usually bring a hurricane or similar along to get rid of bosses more quickly.

If you like the Falcon on the TGI, you may also want to give it a try on the QME and play as the ultimate stagger troll :).

Re: Falcon, I've been running my GE that way for a long, long time, Disruptor Falcon ammo for me personally, but it's a great option for TB's and anti-Phantom bullshit, so I'd highly recommend it. I don't see any reason you couldn't proc FE's with Inc ammo just the same. He still handles bosses pretty well, but you can always carry a Hurricane/Talon secondary if you like.

What would be the pros/cons about using the Falcon, Venom or Scorpion?

The Falcon has a flatter projectile arc than the venom and a larger clip (with mag upgrade). I believe its better from range than the venom. On the flip side the venom has a better AOE with charged shots and launches enemies all over the place. Also has better damage. Both proc reliably. The scorpion projectiles detonate fastest if you shoot them at the ground making them a proximity trap. It requires a little more skill to be a reliable stagger weapon. The major difference is the scorpion only procs ammo when the projectile directly contacts the target which makes it a worse weapon purely for procing ammo IMO.

Falcon AoE Primes, you can lob it/bounce it. Consistent rate of fire. Does balls for damage.

Venom Primes with Multiple Grenadelettes when charged. Does decent damage, but not great against high armour bosses. Rekz Phantoms.

Scorpion does not AoE Prime, you must hit with it. It's a lightweight staggerstick that can get a power amp on it though. Bloody useful tool for powerheavies.

I use a similar principle with my human engineer.  Falcon + [priming ammo] plus triple overload, both for detonating the ammo and for controlling anything that somehow escaped being hit by the Falcon.

It works fairly well.  And by fairly well I mean "can lock down entire spawns and potentially give you killstreaks".  With the TGI I would take the Venom though, for the reasons listed above.  Also if you don't have the Venom at X it can be a bit hefty for some caster classes (I like to keep the human engie's cooldowns low so I can self-detonate fire explosions on bosses).

And I don't understand NOT taking Duration cloak. On my host, more than half the objectives end up Devices (I play on PS3, so there is nothing I can do about this), so Duration cloak is ALWAYS useful to me, and the damage bonus is not really much more anyway.

Cryo Ammo would work too, I went with Incendiary because I like Fire Explosions, they are pretty, and better Armour damage (Since you do such little damage anyway, the FEs make you suck less).

And there is no disputing that Venom does more damage than Falcon, Venom is a badarse piece of technology. However, Venom is a UR, Falcon is a rare, so getting a Level 10 Falcon, which is pretty lightweight, is easier, also, AR gets clip size mod, Shotgun gets Spare Ammo, Falcon has much more spare ammo than the Venom, making it "easier" to play with, and it isn't a charge weapon, making it easier on the arms/hands/fingers. I get my Venom kicks on Valkyrie and Destroyer, and I don't really use Falcon on anything.

And as to GE builds, this would probably also work with that, but my GE runs Hurricane + Incendiary Ammo + Chain Overload, works well with Inferno Grenade allies ;)

I don't brag often, but when I do...it is about the Asari Infiltrator.

I would argue that her cloak is merely a nicety at best and, what's more, that she is at her best with warp ammo, making the proposition of arming the Venom, a weighty monstrosity, the only oddity in the OP's scenario.

I love the Asari Infiltrator - she is tied for my favorite kit - and I have tried any number of builds - but the one for me is the low cool down version. With 200% CD the tactical cloak timer does nothing but severely slow down the killing. I use cloak quite rarely and only then for revives, escapes and devices. And I always use warp ammo - why on Eris' green earth would I want to prime for wussed-out, lesser fire/tech/etc combos? She is an exquisite biotic killing machine who laughs in the face of fire and electricity.

Cast Dark Channel (or as my friends and I call it, SPACE HERPES), shoot repeatedly with the mighty ARC and get the unmatched warp ammo bonus, detonate with Warp, allow the wonder of Space Herpes to infect the next poor sucker while you shoot them with warp ammo before detonating with warp as soon as the short cool down ends... totally perfect, exceptionally quick destruction results.

Yes, I understand that there is bonus power damage to be had from her unique TC, but that damage comes at an untimely cost. I can far exceed that bonus by skipping the cool down cost of TC altogether.

There may be a handful of people who can achieve better results on gold/plat with different builds, but I dare say that they are not a sizable group. Perhaps the OP has a...well, different...understanding of her skills and I encourage giving this method a try.

Ok, that's my bragging for 2015. Please enjoy your regular programming.

I occasionally do a Krogan Shaman build with the PPR and maxed shield regen rate, with absolutely no melee upgrades other than what you get in the first 3 ranks of fitness.  It actually works pretty well, but it makes me feel dead inside, like someone took my soul and backhanded it into the horizon yelling MRRAWWW!

When I TGI nowadays I usually go with a melee build with Venom, which probably qualifies as an AoE build- Venom, heavy melee, and triple chain Overload. Very fun, surprisingly effective.
