All of which is true, albeit some stuff like story being rather subjective and I'd reckon the guy would need to tweak his audio settings a bit because the music has never been overbearing on default ingame settings.

Haha. Good thing the only opinion that matters to me is my own.

Well except for the bit about side quests, sure some of them were kinda dumb but others were really well done. Plus he seemed to put ME2 on some pedestal, do we need a Seb post here or what? LOL.
Sorry I like hearing enemies everywhere. It never gets old.
I miss the enemies screaming and burning or falling, like ME2
Mass Effect 3's combat is too silent.
I like Mass Effect 2's combat sounds. Imagine in Unreal Tournament scoring a headshot with a sniper and the announcer doesn't scream "HEADSHOT!", it doesn't have the same impact. Maybe it is an exaggeration as ME isn't an arena shooter, but you get my point. It is fun to have immediate feedback to everything that's happening.

Well, sidequests are pretty much all the same: talk to person -> Charm/Intimidate person, go back to quest giver ... or alternatively: get to planet, drive to bunker, clear bunker, repeat if necessary. Sure, some quests come with interesting fluff as to why you're doing that, but none of that excuses the copy/paste design.
I liked the various lines the enemies used in combat (and screaming when I incinerate them), they just need to have more lines to say.

The Citadel DLC did this pretty well, since the Cat6 mercs were just regular people being paid to kill Shepard, and they often complained while you were wiping them out.
I would like the return of party combat banter "Scooped and dropped!" was by far my favorite. Why EAware got rid of this, one may never know.
Having Garrus say that over and over again in every battle got kind of tiresome. I'm not a fan of battle barks at all. It just seems kind of weird how everyone would just have this weird catch phrase that they'd repeat over and over again as they kill things. I much prefer that party comments during battle would be situational rather than just the same lines cycled on a loop.

While I maintain my general dislike of battle barks, Hawke sometimes wins me over with some. If I had to pick one as my favorite, it would have to be "Gotcha!", especially when I'm destroying the hell out of an enemy with Assassinate. It always puts a smile on my face. Notable mention for "One more for me!"
Best one is Wrex's WATCH OUT! from ME. Or maybe it was from Krogan enemies? Or both? Who knows? That's the fun of relentlessly repeated combat lines! /kills self
I'm going to snag the audio of this and turn it into a ringtone. I must get it onto a family member's phone somehow.
Knights of the Old Republic, Dragon Age II, and Mass Effect 2 had the best battle cries and combat banter.
HK-47: Optimum accuracy ratio achieved!
Canderous: THIS is going to be good.
Juhani: THATS what a Jedi can do!
Hawke: Making the world a better place, one enemy at a time!
Hawke: Showing up un-invited? So improper!
Hawke: Stand still!!
Kasumi: Ha! Eat it!
Miranda: Night night.
Ashley: (Listening to her moan every time she gets hit)
Don't forget the best one: "Prejudice set to maximum!" (That's from KoTOR, right?)
Anyway I love this kind of battle cries and I hope ME:A follows the model from ME2, In ME3 squadmates were just too quiet.

I think it should depend on the companion. Take Wrex in the Citadel DLC. Being a boisterous brawler that loves saying "Uncle Urdnot's got a present for you!" fits a big violent krogan. But a character that relies more on stealth, like, say, Kasumi, would probably be more fitting as a silent combatant. The same would go for Thane, being an assassin.

I can tell you the exact moment I knew I loved Dragon Age II.
It was during Act I, when Bethany fell in combat. My poor Hawke let out a cry of "Bethany, no!" as her sister collapsed on the streets of Hightown.
While this isn't combat barking in the same manner of "I will destroy you," etc, it won me over instantly. It was a character reacting to something that had happened to another character, and it felt genuine.
I'll take this, and lines like banter in Citadel fight, over any recycled bravado or machismo.
"I'M GETTIN F@%K3d ARSE OVER HERE"**** IM GETTING MY **** PUSHED IN HERE -Battlefield 3
Thanks DICE

Relic Entertainment's RTS franchises "Company of Heroes" and "Dawn of War" have, in my opinion, the best combat chatter because it's both frigging cool and context sensitive.
US Engineer (builder unit): "You tell us where, we tell you when."
US Sniper (taking aim): "Who's the bogeyman..."
Sherman tank (receiving a move order when at good health): "Advance." "I said, 'advance'!"
Sherman tank (receiving a move order at low health): "Drive! For chrissakes, drive!"
Tiger tank (receiving an attack order when at good health): "We will show them the meaning of terror."
Tiger tank (receiving an attack order when at low health): "Yes. We will take them with us..."
Tiger tank (receiving fire from hostile tanks while at good health): "They're scratching our paint job, Helmut."
Space Marine Scout Squad (receiving a move order that cancels a previous order like capturing a point): "Brothers, new orders!"
Space Marine Devastator Squad (after killing the last enemy within their sight): "Direct our wrath anew."
Putting that kind of audio into the game without it becoming annoying or too repetitive seems to be an art of its own.
