ANSWERED:

You need to have Trespasser installed before you can benefit from some of the features it adds (ability upgrades, sigils, trials, etc.) that affect the whole game.

So install everything before you play.

ORIGINAL POST:

Hey guys,

Just got the game. Should I download all the DLC before playing, or worry about it after beating the original campaign first?

Sometimes I know these DLC can modify the original campaign, and sometimes that can be good, and other times it can mess up the flow/balance of the original game.

Looking for some guidance.

I've had a back log of games to play and since GOTY edition came out seemed like a good time to buy. Not really sure why that's wrong?

Well, you can only play Trespasser after beating the main game. In any case, I suggest you go for it and install all of them. You still won't be able to play them until after you get to Skyhold and even then you'll need to be at an appropriate level for the content.

Thanks. It's a shame they couldn't include the DLC on a disk, so many GB of DLC to download!

No, you went wrong by buying the game. Should have just waited for Fallout 4 or gotten Witcher 3.

Or I can play this game and this time next year get Fallout 4 GOTY for the same price.  B)

Many thanks, I will add this to the OP in case others come seeking the same information.

You should also create your own world state in Dragon Age Keep. It brings the decisions from the previous games and effects the story to some degree.

Hey, iain, maybe you can settle a question we had in another thread. Is there one activation code for the whole GOTY package, or are there separate codes? People were hoping that you could buy the GOTY and sell the base game code if you already had one. (My bet was that it wouldn't work this way because EA wouldn't want us doing that.)
