And why are my "misconceptions" so harmful?
Possibly you're just unable to properly identify jokes.
Dwarves are awesome, in any case.
And why are my "misconceptions" so harmful?
I think Thorin could lead also humans, etc. He has a lot of charisma. So why not a charismatic dwarf warrior as a leader?
And Alistair is not much more experienced than the warden at the beginning of the story.

True as I think it's said somewhere that Alistair only joined about a year before the HOF does
Alistair.... main character.... LOL, seriously... no. Idle Dwarf would be a better lead.
Didn't we get an insight into what the world would be like with Alistair being the leader in Darkspawn Chronicles???????
#Fail; #Loser; #Death; #No
Just, no.

DSC was garbage, you can't hold that up as the standard to anything. It had no connection to the warden's story at all and was just one giant combat. The only DLC from Origins I didn't waste 5 bucks on. Of course Alistair had to fail because the player was a darkspawn in that one. Hardly do to have him win against the player now would it? Could you imagine the backlash Bioware would have gotten if the DLC was 'unwinnable'?!?
Would have made the ME3 fiasco seem tame in comparison.
If forced to play as Alistair, I still might have gotten Origins, but I much prefer the game I got where I could pick and choose and create a PC to interact with the world around me in the game.
As it is, Alistair is so tied into the plot, he can only be killed by plot device/player agency at the proper moment.
The darkspawn agree!
Except that the dlc is basically AU. According do David Gaider, Wade or Herren were not demons to start with.
http://forum.bioware...-dao/?bioware=1How did you know? To me Herren can be the formless one, while Wade Dumat.
The world is full of surprises,or maybe he just made a deal with a demon
http://forum.bioware...-dao/?bioware=1
show bioware post only if you don't want to go through all the drivel.
So a desire demon came along to save their life in exchange of something, seem fair Wade talent cannot end.
So Among all the Dlc Wade and Harren are one of the few characters that don't die ever.
As a male Cousland, you are simply a "pup" who has never seen battle. I'm supposed to believe you kill an Archdemon within a year?? And stop Loghain? Please...
The only origin that made any sense to me was the dwarf noble. Lord Aeducan was awesome. But a dwarf leading a group is just... I don't know, odd? Just wish they had done more with him vs Behlen. Make it more personal.
A dwarf leading a group is just awesome and original! The Aeducan Family is one of the most powerful and ancient in the world and Bhelen is my favourite DA
character(even when i play as an Aeducan).
whenever i think about the Aeducan this comes to mind
For the Human noble i believe that you are very much mistaken only Bryce call you pup a name that i hated truly, my Warden didn't regret his death,in his moment of death i asked to him if Highever could have been mine just in case....
and he said F-F-ferguss..... mm the anger.
(yes i'm a monster)
The noble fought at many tournaments and s/he supposedly already met Loghain,he even recognize you at Ostagar.
Duncan would have not come to look for a pup as his first choice,he was in search of a beast.

A party comprised of Alistair, Morrigan, Oghren, and Leliana for example sounds much better than The Warden, Oghren, Morrigan, and Leliana. See what I'm trying to say?
Still think the hero of Ferelden should have a set in stone first name.
Boom. Discuss and let the insults toward me come!
I don't want to play Alistair.
I like him and all, but Alistair is an excellent FOLLOWER....
Why would I want to play that?
Witcher is great - I have really enjoyed the series (sex and all
) : but I believe you pay a metaphysical price for a such a well developed character - a bit harder to head cannon. Geralts relationships are, by and large, defined for you.
Also, I love Leliana, and I love Morrigan. Both are fantastic characters I really enjoyed having in my groups. Alistair has a different view of Morrigan, and as a player I probably would because I'd be playing him.
Which would have left Leliana as the only romance option for me as a player. Not a huge enough reason to dislike the idea of playing as him, but enough that it would have killed the desire to play through more than a handful of times.
Romance aside, the different origins help with variety. Cousland is wonderfully integrated into the storyline, the elf player less so, but as a mage, you get all kinds of extra dialogue if you play a Surana.
Also, I really enjoy playing mages in Origins. I like the versatility the class provides. Being a sword and board warrior (even rebuilding Alistair and respeccing him) every. single. game.

Of course it was AU, because the default DAO world state has the HoF surviving the joining... it doesn't change the (if you can call it as such) fact, that in this AU where the Warden dies, Alistair=Fails.

More than AU, it's a video game where the player takes on the role of a darkspawn and instead of an ally, Alistair is the 'antagonist'. I repeat what I posted earlier: imagine the uproar that creating an "unwinnable" game would have caused in the fanbase.
DSC was garbage, you can't hold that up to any standard of what would have happened. Since Alistair would be the protagonist, not some boss NPC you're supposed to kill, if he (the player) were the main character, the player would have to have a viable chance to beat the game.
DSC was not really funny gameplay-wise because it was so repetitive, but it was interesting to play as the enemy ![]()
