So currently I'm trying out a dwarf 2 handed tank. Playthroughs too easy at the moment so I'll probably be making another on a higher difficulty (I'm also grabbing times for the wiki like the goodie 2 shoes I am) but I was wondering if templar or champion would be best.
Templar gives elemental resistance and that seems to be my huge weakness. Champion, on the other hand, is tanky. Like really tanky.
I'm running 3 ranged characters so losing aggro is more obvious on who specifically, with a sward/axe to help stoomina regen. Grabbed AOE chain and the no cooldown challenge as well to make use of all that stoomina but other than that and maybe combat roll, I'm mostly blank.

Any thoughts?

Grabbing times for the wiki.. what?

A Champion will not drop. Ever. If they drop on Nightmare you are doing it wrong.
A Templar's 10% elemental bonus is not really noticeable when you have guard up all the time. And I find their abilities situation at best unless you Wrath+purge combo detonate.

If you have Trespasser grab the Chromatic Greatsword.. basically doubles your damage output. Couple it with Hidden blades MW on your armor and Sword and use your abilities for survivability..

I'm running a 2H Templar with 2 mages and an archer. Rifts are so easy now and the main story is easy as well. I play on NmM plus all trails in. The WrathPurge combo is crazy with the Chromaric Greatsword. You combo for around 15-20k spirit damage and then another 15-20k random elemental damage.

The Charging Bull animation on a Dwarf must be adorable! You gotta take that.

2 Things (nightmare difficulty)!

1)  Outside of JoH, if you know what you are doing you won't die as a Champ, Reaver, OR Templar

2)  With JoH, the only thing Champ guarantees is you are the last to die in your party (post 1.10)

What I like about Templar is the AoE stun.  Couple that with War Horn and you have a tank who is fearing and/or stunning entire groups.  Meanwhile your dps can mop up.  Plus you can purge those stacks of hakkon off you.

I took tge advice and tried champ build. I found with the new toggles i barely used attack options. Clearly you have to choose left side or right. Right dide your frozen in place but cant be damaged (ai of enemies seems to be a problem for this) then the left side has livid? Great for guard but at best a backup option in combat?

That's odd...
Champion looks underwhelming tbh.
And yeah I'm grabbing agentless times for the DLC war table missions so it's on normal. Gonna up the difficulty later and actually play for fun so I was just curious what I should grab.
Because I'm a sucker for 2 handed tanks. Like a real sucker. As in I never made a warrior sward and board in da:2
