im not sure where is the right place to ask but here it is.

What class/role is it best to micromanaging? My main character is a dwarf champion board/sword. I change my npc characters to get to see everyone. Romance character is cassandra. I use cole a lot (I love his personality)
. Is there certain class that the AI does best better/worst at? I'm talking just for general fights and not dragons/boss.

Second question. Due to my life right now I can play only about 5-10 hours a week (family, job, and newborn coming soon). I have not bought any of the DLCs yet. Is there a certain order you would recommend buying and/or playing. I know tresspasser dlc has new skills options. I am playing on buying one at a time.

1. Two-handed Reaver and dual-wield rogue. The AI sucks the worst with those.

2. You may want to get Trespasser for the additional toggles skills, plus new items/schematics added to the game. As for playing them, they all work post-game. I'm partal to Descent>JoH>Trespasser. Do note that Trespasser is the final DLC, so you cannot keep playing after beating it.

1)Cassandra

2)solas

3)cole

4)blackwall

5)varric

6)Dorian

AI that Suck in handling themselves :

1)sera(does not spam potion after one and another)

2)ironbull(doesn't know how to spam dragon rage)

3) viviene (has been nerf and doesn't know to spam spirit blade)

Must get DLC : trespasser(the toggle upgrade skill does change a lot aspect in the game)>Jaw of hakkon(beautiful enviroment)>descent (tier4 schematic)

Cole is terrible with handling himself.  Until you get guard on hit masterworks on his armor he is constantly falling unconsious.  And even then he is still a delicate fleur.  Iron Bull is the same way.  Made of glass.. but better once you get him to generate some guard.  Upgraded livid is his friend, along with guard on hit on his armor.  Everyone else is more or less fine in terms of handling themselves.

Rogue companions don't know when to use leaping shot. Blackwell and Cass know what they need to do. All AI companions will combo if you set it up. For example: If you use winter grasp, they will detonate it. The following characters really do a nice job:

1)Cassandra
2)Solas
3)Cole
4)Blackwall
5)Varric changed to dual daggers
6)Dorian
7)Viv set her to spam spirit blade as her preferred in tactics. Still needs some managing but has an excellent talent tree.

Thank you for your help!!! It seems like tanks, and mages are the easiest for the AI to take care of but the DPS is harder when it comes to complex rotations or glass cannons. Am I correct?

Ya know, everyone says this, but i have never had any problems with Cole. True, if you get him early, he is very squishy. But, if you wait to levels 12-14, i find him very viable. As long as you have knife in the shadows, i just set evade, flank attack and stealth on preferred. As long as your tank has fortifying blast and he has some kind of defensive masterwork ( i prefer heal on hit to guard) he survives just fine. You can also give him leeching poison if you are really worried about it.

That is how I saw it. Mages can be setup to prefer barrier. Tanks are easy because they generate guard. Rogues have the highest damaging power but need management. Having said that the last battle in The Descent and Trespassers is pretty easy with two rogues if you manage them. I managed Sera and my rogue which were both Tempest. That Tempest class has the highest defense/offense talents if you mange the flasks correctly.

Many replies along these lines and I agree with all of them.

I agree with this. Personally, I played them in the order they came out, JoH>Descent>Trespasser, which was fine and made sense story-wise, but Descent>JoH>Trespasser is arguably better in terms of appropriateness of loot. Stuff I got in JoH wasn't all that useful in Descent, but stuff I got in Descent (with Trespasser installed, very important!) would have been very useful in JoH.

In any case, whatever you do in terms of play order, you must buy and install Trespasser first, in order to get all the new game mechanics and loot items added to the main game. And, in case it wasn't clear, you can only play Trespasser last. That is to say, once you start Trespasser, you can't go back and do anything else.

Why install Trespassers first? I installed it last.

I think it is because you can't use the new skills without it downloaded.

I personally don't care for him as a character, so I rarely use him.  But when I do, he is always using all my damn health potions.  The problem with with heal on hit masterwork is that I so rarely get the snofleur 1% heal on hit masterwork to drop that when I do, I always give it to Dorian (or myself if my quizzy is a necromancer).  Heal on hit seems to be a good masterwork for a necro.  I like to make masterworks on Cole very aggressive through, with 4x hidden blades on one dagger and 5x hidden blades on the other.

Quoting myself: "... Trespasser first, in order to get all the new game mechanics and loot items added to the main game."

Run cole as an archer and he is fine, actually he is pretty amazing.

I agree. I played assassin archer and the damage dealing is HUGE! Archer makes up for his lack of defense. Easy 10k damage with the correct gear.

Sadly, I'd still never use him since he just rubs me the wrong way.  The idea that he can just slip into someone's innermost thoughts without their explicit permission is .. unnerving.  I'm also not big on re-specing my companions out of their preferred weapons.  I figure Cole wants to use daggers because he likes stabbing things (to be fair, I also like stabbing things and if I'm not a mage I'm a dual wield rogue using AoE dual blades.. so I get the appeal).  And Bull likes a 2H weapon because anything else would just look ridiculous on someone 8 feet tall and 300 lbs.
