I love hating, hating makes me happy as do posting here about my hatred. Wrote lots of huge answers about it, but in short that's it. What makes me love hating? I put a lot of hopes in DAI because of the videos during the development phase so now I'm pretty happy just hating it forever. And I hope to keep making posts like these until 2050 at least (not that I believe a human being can sustain hatred for so long but I can try)

You actually had hope thanks to those trailers? A part of me died when I saw them - particularly when I saw The Breach. The trailers have been going down hill since DA2. Destiny was the "highlight" post-Sacred Ashes.

On-topic(?): I only clicked on this thread because I expected the little tip to be a big tip. (Lack of faith in humanity not restored.)

I dunno. DA:O's trailer is pretty mediocre, I thought. ME1's trailer has that cornball 90's feel to it, which I guess is fitting. At least it shows the actual gameplay and cutscenes though.

I'm not going to try. Their position comes down to "Only things I say are right, and everyone else can ****** off". Of course, every time I read these "definition of an RPG" posts, I get a mental image of the OP running around in their wizard robe and pointy hat casting lightning bolts at random farm animals, hoping to get some gold. Those people that sincerely want us to believe that playing as a wizard isn't playing a role, and that the R in RPG obviously doesn't include that role despite it being a Role Playing Game. Circle back to "but that's not my definition". At best, it's good for some laughs.

"Wood" spirit huh? Is that what you call it? ;)

ESPECIALLY morning wood.

I just go back for the jokes. I don't even bother reading a word of that stuff.

How do you keep players from asking for the Warden, Hawke and now the Inquisitor back?
1 - FINISH their story
2 - Increase the time span between games
3 - Finish means closure
4 - Finish means it ends
5 - End means it either have a good retirement end or they die
6 - End, finish, closure, it is easy, just make it look like an end, because that is what it was supposed to be
7 - Do not hint at the character future with big quests, plans and so on. Allowing a character to have a son with the soul of an old god and have his wife return is NOT a great way to END things, on the contrary. Also... finding a new enemy and a new cause in the end of the game is NOT a good way of saying "let it go"

OP
1 - Stories of one character can spam for as long as Bioware chooses. Harry Potter ran for 7 Books not 1 for example.

2 - Dragon Age Origins 2008 - DA2 2010 - DAI 2014. We are not getting any younger and i would like to enjoy DA4,

3, 4 - Dragon Age is about the world of Thedas not one single character, a story cant end.

5. - That would get boring and really repetitive, Also anger people like myself who enjoy the characters continuing to exist in there own world state.

6. - Repeats 1 and 4

7. - Choice is a trademark of a Bioware game.

I failed to read past that, you seem to not like Bioware games? Which like other members of this community have stated, Why are you here?

I can't imagine ever hating a video game so much that I felt the need to write an essay-length, badly-written diatribe about it on the developer's forums.

I mean, there are video games that I've tried that I haven't enjoyed - I just stopped playing them.

Must be a glutton for punishment.

I say, let us show some slight appreciation, or not, to this person for the pain they went through and still do by playing "bad" games, as we don't understand their burden of being alone knowing what true RPG whatever is.

But I still think they should go fanfiction.

I am quite content with my canon inquisitor's story ending, married to Cullen, honor guard to Cassandra, and a Red Jenny on the side.  I don't feel the urge to play her any more.  She's done.  I want a new protagonist.  They should have cleaned up Solas' story with a DLC and not left it open ended.  Tevinter should be a completely different story and have nothing to do with Solas.  If Solas had been taken care of, most would not care if the inquisitor was retired.

Can you give me an example of how you'd finish each protags story? Is it killing them? It's usually killing them.

Besides, I don't think Bioware has a problem bringing back old protags considering the ending of trespasser practically stated that the Inquisitor is going to have a good sized role in DA4.

I mean, there are video games that I've tried that I haven't enjoyed - I just stopped playing them.

Which brings me to this conclusion:

That this person loves BioWare games, in an unhealthy "rivalmance" sort of way. I wager he has a shrine in his mother's basement filled with BioWare merchandise. Each night, he lights an incense and draws a pentagram. Standing inside the pentagram, he jacks off so hard he bleeds and starts crying, using the tears as lube.

Credits to this

May important and/or irreplaceable parts of you sour, then rot, and soon fall into the void for suggesting this one; seriously the Blight can't take you quickly enough and I hope that Corypheus haunts your dreams too!!

Actually I'm quite busy making my whor* character in Wasteland 2 Director's Cut. And I'm also starting a Shadowrun Hong Kong new game. Testing more of Sword Coast Legends "testing build" (don't remeber if alpha, beta or whatever). Sad thing is that the games where I can actually be a kick master whor* (aside from the godlike NWN2) are action sh*t like Skyrim but I keep playing and trying. If I was playing Inquisition all this time... well I don't think human body can take that much vomiting.
The first battle in DAI, the first time I played, already made me vomit all my internal organs, my soul and some other thing from another dimension that came through my throat so strong was the repulsive disgusting force of seeing action in the game.

Oh and I know how D&D started, D&D creators and developers from all versions are normal people, they like people, they have friends and they sure as hell do not have anything in common with me. But what does it matter? I understand normal people think "origin" means anything, but I couldn't care less from where it came or who developed it, I use because it is marvelous and perfect. Like any other thing, I couldn't care less about origin or even intended purpose if it serves me, it is perfect. So I'm pretty sure D&D creator/devs are retarded enough to like action, they probably play action games when/if they do play games. But again, knowing psychoanalysis I wonder if it is a neurotic thing this "relevance" of origin... what does it matter where a thing came from?

And yeah you are so funny except that since my first "absurd" post here you all lack to argue about one thing: As much as I completely understand how ridiculous my demands are games until DAO fulfilled them and games from other companies still do. So one thing is pretty clear here, Bioware games were gradually and severely cutting down options and narrowing PCs to their disgusting heroes. Which is why I made the OP anyway because once they "control" the character they are going to completely spoil it. You can argue all you want but it won't change the fact that Bioware games allowed me to create my characters but they don't anymore, that I could tell me stories but I can't anymore, not in their games. So for all my "insanity" this is a fact. And I have no problem with you accepting it, because you like stories, and it is ok to like whatever you want to like. I don't want supporters (I don't like people anyway), it is just funny that you are unable to understand people with different focus and differente preferences about games. You joke about what I like, and I totally understand it because yes, to anyone normal it is ridiculous, hell, even for myself some years ago, I would confine a person like I am today in another dimension, I would think I'm insane, toxic, futile, troll and so on. So I understand all of you, but still, why not understand that they offered me options and instead of making a better game they kept on butchering options to the point I can't make my character anymore?

Edit: Of couse this supposing we agree on one thing, options and freedom are good right? In fact we only disagree on one thing, you prefer a good story even if it sacrifices options, I would rather have no story at all, just a blank space with a training dummy (seriously, as long as combat log recorded my interactions with said dummy) and lots of races, classes and skills.

Warden story has been done for years. The whole cure thing is just a thing to keep them from showing up in the game if alive.

Harshly put OP, but I agree with the sentiment. For one, I think BioWare makes its' protagonists too big and too powerful. If each game had been smaller scale, no one would be asking why the PC who became the head of a crime syndicate in Antiva during the last game isn't coming back to start a slave revolt in Tevinter. Setting each game 100 years or more apart would fix this as well. No matter how powerful the hero was, they're dead now and BioWare doesn't have to force an epilogue for their entire life and death on them. The player can headcanon it. The sequel baiting is also pretty crazy, especially when it ends up going nowhere like with the OGB and the mage/templar war. If they do the same thing with Solas, the elves, the veil, and the Inquisitor's personal vendetta, I'm going to be upset. Don't set things up only to toss them out. Having plotlines and companions that continue from game to game isn't satisfying when you change protagonists halfway through.

Yes, clearly, when people disagree with you they just "don't understand you" and x and y is fact because you said so.

Are you really going to use angry rebelling pubescent teen logic to try and prove your point?
