I play a rogue, and would like to be able to swap between my bow, and daggers when needed during combat. i think this would open up gameplay quite a bit and be less repetitious.
can we have weapon swapping?

There were definitely times when I wished I could switch to a bow or a different elemental weapon.

Yeah, it's lame that they removed that. Especially for rogues. I headcanon my rogue as having a bow and 2 daggers and being proficient in both (even though she can only carry a bow), like Legolas. I don't understand why they downgrade things like this.

I found it to be a mostly useless feature in DAO; I rarely swapped weapons, except during the Archdemon fight when the dragon flew out of melee range.

I liked using it with tactics to program rogues to switch to melee weapons when enemies got too close. So, I'd like to see tactics and weapons swapping again.

Cool, but I used it a lot. I was an odd hybrid of dual-weapon/sword-and-shield. Options are optional.

I'd love to see tactics come back period.

Honestly, I think it would be cool if I could just have 2 daggers and a bow appear on my character at once, even if I couldn't use them. It looks awesome.

I don't even want weapon swapping to return, I want Inquis being able to headbutt enemies. Make it happen, Bioware!

I never really used weapon swapping in DAO because (to me) it never really felt efficient. That being said, I have played other similar games where I enjoyed being able to weapon swap so I would be all for Bioware bringing the option back. Given how the skills system has changed since Origins I feel like weapon swapping could work really well now, and it would also make the "only 8 hotkeys" thing feel less limiting.
As an aside, I think Qunari headbutts were a severely missed opportunity ![]()

when i first played DA:I the first thing in the gameplay that came to mind is it was very similar to Guild Wars 2 in its feel and in the way it plays. Very action oriented, dodges, and abilities. And different abilities from different characters can combo together. Just wish there was that weapon swap, because in Guild Wars when i use a longbow on my ranger i can switch to melee weapons on the fly (with a cooldown of about 10 seconds of course). It feels limiting here to be stuck on one or the other during a prolonged fight.

Definitely. I find that only having 8 mappable/usable abilities in DAI really exacerbates that limited feeling during combat. In the past two games you could always access all the abilities you had unlocked. At least if weapon swapping was implemented you could map different abilities with different weapons, making it feel like you have access to more options.

I used it a lot in Origins as well.
Would be good to have it back for any future games.
I would even be OK with the restrictions staying (Warriors can't use bows, Mages can't equip melee etc).
Just the ability to have two methods of fighting readily available would make the combat (which for me, was the weakest part of Inquisition) more interesting. As mentioned above, mages with fire and ice staves equipped, a rogue with bow + dual daggers and a warrior with W&S and a two-handed (or a different weapon doing different damage).
Would give a great boost to the 'customisation' of each playthrough, AND not render mages useless at fighting both rage and despair demons in the same encounter.....

That would definitely help. I wouldn't complain about the limit if I could have my rogue use a bow with bow abilities and daggers with dagger abilities in the same fight. That would make the combat a lot more fun. Also, if the abilities are tied to weapon sets and not specific weapon types, I could totally hot-key 8 abilities to my sword and shield, then 8 more to my duplicate sword and shield to have 16 abilities ![]()

Don't get me wrong, I would infinitely prefer that Origins method of any class being able to equip melee and ranged weapons. I just said that I would be OK with it if the existing limitations remained.
Very magnanimous of me, of course, since I don't believe they'll ever take it back to that style, but there it is.

I would love weapon swapping to be back, but that would mean they need to reconsider how weapons work, much more differentation between hammers, maces and swords.
secondly, they really need to reconfigure Attributes as well, and I was thinking if they decided with having 8 hot keys again for the next game that would be fine, but what if each race had a 9th hotkey configured for a special racial ability that is not class dependent.

That's what they should have done with Focus Abilities. As it is, I can never justify using them because they effectively have cooldowns of several minutes. Any other skill is more worthwhile. Which sucks, because they're fun. If they actually bothered to think of clever ways of mapping, they could have done this. Trespasser proved that with Anchor Discharge.

Switching weapons was definitely one of the mechanics I loved in DAO. I hope they bring it back. The mechanic adds more depth to already immersive gameplay back then.
