Can't say I'm not disappointed about this challenge... I still need seven more Perilous matches, and I don't really have any characters good enough to complete it. It's just a bummer since it's the fourth star in the challenge. Any of you guys still playing and willing to help out? I play Perilous sometimes, I'm just not fully comfortable in there.

You know, this weekend was the fist time it felt like drudgery for me, too.

Now, I normally play Perilous almost exclusively these days. I'd say my stats are average - not too low because I can play very comfortably, but not astronomical like a lot of people here who really grinded it out. I have end-level gear and armor, but not the highest of highs (none of the Hakkon weapons, for example). So, I mean, I'm in a place where 10 Perilous matches should be a breeze.

And they largely were, but there was no FUN in it anymore. I say this because this weekend has to be the most God-awful lag and latency I have ever experienced on PS4. It was fine for the original three factions, mostly, but Qunari came up a lot and it was almost unplayable. The first 4 zones breezed by, no problem, and then everything would go to hell on Zone 5. Had a team that had not failed a match yet, then suddenly wiped within 30 seconds. Not sure how their end was, but mine saw hitting buttons only to seemingly not have them register, so I'd be stuck half-way casting Firestorm but not actually casting it, for example. Or I'd put distance between me and an enemy, only to suddenly rubber-band back with almost no health left. Wipe.

Then next match came up Perilous Storm Dragon and it was one of those matches where no matter what you do or where you go, the dragon has decided all the electricity bombs belong to you.

All this was happening right when I needed only one more match to be done. My buddy SilveSmurf messages me to join him, and I told him I was about ready to rage-quit. He convinces me to come over for one match, so I do. I then proceed to enjoy more of the lovely uber-latency that apparently double XP weekend brings, get teabagged once because that's what friends do in our circle and usually it's funny and good sport - although for once, it didn't feel as funny because the death came in a confusing no-one-hit-me-went-from-full-health-to-dead-instantly-what-just-happened manner - and I left shortly after getting that 10th Perilous done.

Sadly, I think I'm pretty much done with this game. It just wasn't fun. At all. Just felt more like a chore, something I had to get out of the way before I could go play something more fun/less buggy. And the lag was not my own Internet connection, which I know for a fact because I loaded up ESO after rage-quitting DAIMP yesterday and I had not one issue, bug, or lag-spot whatsoever.

It's like the complete opposite feeling I had for ME3MP. I was incredibly sad when those weekend challenges ended and I completed every single one (save for the first few because they weren't available for PS3, although I still performed the tasks anyway just as an "in spirit" thing). With DAIMP, I'm almost looking forward to when they end so I don't feel compelled to do them anymore (and I've completed every single one since they started). It's frustrating and sad because it shouldn't be that way. :(

:(

I did do it slowly so you wouldn't see the latency so much

I didn't realise you were rubber banding about.  It has to be the weekend thing right?  I thought our connection was fine when we played previously together.

Sorry to hear you are leaving but I guess there isn't really much to keep people around.

Everyone has been carried at one point in this game. Now's the time to give back to the weaker (in reality, simply less experienced, since DAMP rewards time over skill) players.

You know what, I think I will start doing this.

I'll just open public and see who joins.  New players won't be sticking around long if they keep eating fade or can't find games.

My brain is fried after the weekend anyway so I am less inclined to "promoting push" this week.

Yeah, our connection's been pretty darn good in the past. My latency was just off the charts in most lobbies all weekend this past weekend. Not sure if it's a sign of things going down the pooper in general or if the EA servers just couldn't handle a bunch of extra people on for the double XP, I dunno. But there's zero fun in being bandied about half the time and not knowing what's going on.

I'm still going to finish out the weekend challenges, probably, but my desire to keep playing after they're mopped up each weekend is basically at zero now. :(

Well if you see me online don't be afraid to look me up and join (rubber banding permitting)

I'm doing the FC gold challenge ..... 774k to go....    I swear it would be done by now if there was retroactive :/ but alas wasn't to be

Less boring when people you know are in the team.

Yeah, I think since this coming weekend is the 5th and final star in the Agent Challenge, it's a good time after it's done to part ways with any sort of regular play. I may still drop in from time to time to play a match, but my weekly challenge obsession will officially be over.

And it's probably just as well. Since on Oct. 27 (a week from tomorrow as of this writing) a game comes out that may or may not rhyme with "Shmalo" that I'll be playing the living pizz out of. So all in all, I think the universe is aligning for a reason and now is a good time to thank the DA devs and community for a great time and it's time to move on.

Did my first 15 matches in Perilous this weekend and 5 of them failed at the last zone!   The bosses are a lot harder in Perilous even the treasure room bosses.    The amount of gold is almost the same as Threatening.   I think the most I got was 13xx in a match.   It is possible that most of the successful runs were carried by 1 super NM guy who just wanted to run thru the challenge and not stopping for rooms.

After I got my 10 matches, I just went back to Threatening.   It is a lot less stress and more rewarding. :P

What a coincidence! There is also a new game on the horizon that is about to consume my living gaming soul for a good long while, although it may or may not rhyme with "Schmallout".

I haven't tried any of the Schmallouts yet, but I've had friends recently tell me I need to remedy that. Would you suggest picking up Schmallout 3 and giving it a try before 4 drops, or just jumping feet first into 4?

You could likely jump into 4. I would say play 3 & New Vegas first, as it gives you a good feel for the game, but they can take a long time to 'finish' unless you want to do a quick run through the main storyline missions. Fallout games, like Skyrim, really aren't solely about the main story, as it's not that great, but experiencing the game as a whole--that is roaming around, scavenging, side quests, etc, is what really defines the Bethesda games. It's a great sandbox to play in, but I wouldn't set your hopes too high on the primary campaign.

Another thing to consider is that playing an expansive game like Fallout 3 might burn you out somewhat on the similar type of gameplay Fallout 4 will offer. I did the same with Inquisition, playing Origins and DA2 in the weeks before release.

If you're just looking for something to play, however, Parachromis made some good points.

I think FO:NV is the one to start with. Fantastic game. I purchased the GOTY edition on a Steam sale. Best $10 I ever spent.

I enjoy the sandbox style games actually. My only problem is I get "lost" in exploring and doing all the sidequests and almost forget about the main story. Did that with DA:I...I had 90+ hours in and probably only about 30-35% of the way through the main storyline. :o

I did see they have a deal now on XBox...buy Schmallout 4 and get 3 for free (not sure if it's an upgraded version for the XB1 or the old 360 version, but backward compatibility is supposed to be available next month sometime, sooo...) Might be worth looking into, since I think "Schtar Warz: Schmattlefront" is going to be a bust.

Since you're on XBox, I'd do the Schmallout 4 preorder that nets you Schmallout 3 for free. Schmallout: Schmew Schegas was also excellent. I've loved all of them so far. I imagine you can just jump straight into Schmallout 4 and be fine, though. Bethesda is good about setting their sandboxes up in such a way that you really don't need to go in with extensive back knowledge of previous games in order to learn and enjoy it.

Pretty sure Schmallout 3 will just be the 360 version made backwards compatible, not any sort of upgraded version.

I particularly like the V.A.T.S. system. It takes shooting and puts a turn-based twist on it, so you can slow the action down at times to help aim and such. After reading about your arthritis and not really liking the fast-paced shooters, it makes me all the more certain this is an RPG-based shooter that you could probably handle really well, partially thanks to V.A.T.S. :)

A friend of mine complained that it was a pretty flakey 3rd person shooter after completing a large chunk of the game. I couldn't comprehend that he hadn't used VATS. I love VATS, as you say gives a sort of turn based approach to the game.

I adored number 3, but could never get into New Vegas, I think it was too populated, I liked the wasteland wandering and finding the little vignettes and story strands tucked away in empty homesteads or bunker.

Hoping number 4 is more wasteland wandering than New Vegas towns.

I preferred New Vegas. It did feel a bit too condensed though (a mountain full of super mutants a stone's throw away from the brotherhood, near a quarry full of deathclaws, all of which are only a minute or two away from where you start the game). Hopefully, the scale of Fallout 4 will solve that problem.

To all the Fallout peeps:

Also sounds like he never tried 1st person if he complained about 3rd version. May want to remind him he can choose either view. If I tried to 3rd person shoot with no V.A.T.S., I probably wouldn't like the game either. LOL

I always play Bethesda games in 1st person view. 3rd person throws me off on them, which is weird because I LIKE the forced 3rd person in BioWare games, so not sure why my brain differentiates the way it does.

I much preferred 3. I loved the Capital Wasteland and everything about it. Did not really enjoy the desert environment of New Vegas, although I liked the update to some of the overall systems and the "faction karma" and stuff.

I'm hoping 4 will be a happy medium of the two.

Well, I think you just about convinced me then. I have PSN and XBL, so could get either, but it seems only XBL is offering the pre-order perk of throwing in Schmallout 3 with your order. I don't believe there's a multi-player aspect to the Schmallouts to consider, right? If it's strictly SP, then it should largely just be a matter of preference. Might just have to go ahead and do that then.

SP only, unless some sort of gigantic surprise bomb gets dropped. But I imagine that would've come out by now.

The only MP Bethesda has done was letting ZeniMax make The Elder Scrolls Online. But otherwise, all Bethesda's Elder Scrolls and Fallouts have been SP only.
