How much choice/flexibility would you like in the classes in ME:A?

More choices and customization is pretty much always a good thing, but how much power would you like to have over the classes in Mass Effect:Andromeda?
I had previously conceived of a system where each class had 2 or 3 set powers(exclusive to that class), a pool of class-oriented powers from which to choose 3 or 4 more, and a pool of powers that all classes have access to from which to choose 1 or 2 more.
In case I'm not being clear enough, it would look like this:

Soldier-
Default:
• Adrenaline Rush
• Marksman
• Carnage
Pick 3 Additional Soldier Options:
• Fortification
• Blade Armor
• Hawk Missile Launcher
• Siege Pulse
• Armor-Piercing Ammo
• Inferno Grenade
• Multi-Frag Grenade
• Devastator Mode
• Proximity Mine
Pick 2 Universal Powers-
• Concussive Shot
• Stimulant Pack
• Cryo Ammo
• Incendiary Ammo
• Frag Grenade
• Sticky Grenade
• Shield Boost
• Concussive Arrow

But I've seen a number of people say they want the class specializations of ME1 to make a return. Would a system where you unlock additional power-sets to choose from be preferable to the more open-ended customization I outlined above? Perhaps something like:

You've reached level 10. You may now choose between two Soldier specialization options:
Shock Trooper-
• Adrenaline Rush
• Marksman
• Carnage
• Frag Grenade
• Flamer
• Siege Pulse
• Ballistic Blades

Grenadier-
• Adrenaline Rush
• Marksman
• Carnage
• Cain Trip Mine
• Inferno Grenade
• Incendiary Ammo
• Homing Grenade

Or maybe something in between? Or totally different? What would you all like to see from classes?

I prefer option 1.  but I'd like class specializations to be in as well, but as overarching mutations on the powers you choose. A stronger version of ME2s evolution of your passive but set aside from your standard power pool and points to spend.  something like start at the rank 4 choice at level 10, and get a new choice every 5 levels.   If it was a pure either or, definitely option 1.

I'm okay with set powers but i'd like a much more extravagant evolution system so it can effectively turn powers into a wide range of totally new powers if they have a set class list.

Jesus. No ME1 please. The game was just not good. The difference between the classes wasn't really there. In ME2 it actually felt like - if you were an engineer you had your robot. If you were an infiltrator, you had invisibility. Classes felt distinct with not much overlap.

I'd like more variations with the abilities (like ME3 but for every step of the ability). Plus, maybe 2 additional abilities than the amount in ME3. Late game you basically had it all.

I personally liked the system in ME2, especially the idea if you made someone loyal you could learn their loyalty skill.  I mean I'm Commander Shepard, the first human spectre...I should be able to learn a different attack that's not in my repertoire at least.

I would like if the adept had all the biotic powers and they could make their own powers

I think someone is confusing Mass Effect for an RPG ;)

n.b. I've been on a slightly retro kick playing NWN2 again recently.

I could go with either option.  Option 1 would probably get rid of the hybrid classes as a result.  And option 2 would create hybrids of the hybrids to the point where they were the same, so probably just the base Soldier/Tech/Biotic classes again.

I also like the standard 6-class system.  However they do it it'll turn out fine in the end.  Mostly what I care about is how the classes mesh with the backstory of the main character.  Like having a Biotic specialist with Carnage and a drone and rifle proficiency.

That wouldn't be an adept anymore, but rather just "biotic" and you'd choose a fraction of the available powers to build your character, so this eliminates the class system. The same thing would have to be done to the soldier or non-biotic class and you just choose from the gamut of tech powers. Thing is, the biotic clearly has the advantage because they can choose from everything while soldiers only get tech, unless it gets silly like ME1 where soldiers can have throw.

I had a similar system in mind, but with only 1 default power that is each class' signature (Singularity, Charge, Tactical Cloak, etc). Then 4 empty slots with a pool of powers to choose from depending on each class. Mixed classes would have to choose 2 powers of each kind. And one bonus slot for universal powers. Though I wouldn't mind if bonus powers were also class-restricted. Why were non-biotic Shepards able to use biotic powers anyway?
