During the assault on Saren's base on Virmire, Shepard and his teammates team up with a group of Salarians to take down the Krogan breeding facility. The leader of the Salarians is an Salarian Task Force member named Kirrahe who takes one of your team mates either Ashley or Kaidan to help him.

Kirrahe can survive to be useful in Mass Effect 3 but for me he died because I failed to do the required tasks to save him. Is it crucial to save him? what do you think?

It's not crucial to save him.
You can get war assets from his replacement.
If Thane dies in ME2, Kirrahe would help you, but again not that important.

If Thane is dead in ME3, then having Kirahee will make it easier to not shoot the VS (Virmire Survivor). If both are dead then the Salarian Councilor will be assassinated by Kai Leng and Udina will show a doctored video of Shepard shooting the Councilor to the VS to prove Shepard is with Cerberus. If you also let the Council die in ME1, then it becomes even more important to have either Thane or Kirahee around. Without Thane or Kirahee and with the Council sacrificed in ME1 then at the very least you will have to pass a persuade check with the VS to get them to back down. At worst, if you didn't visit the VS in the hospital and didn't take the paragon interrupt to lower your weapon then the VS will be shot, either by Shepard if you take the interrupt, or by one of Shepard's team mates if you do not.

Kirrahe is a good guy. If Thane is alive in ME3, Kirrahe will become 20 assets. You see him on Sur'Kesh where he and Shepard have a few lines of dialogue about Virmire. He will also remember Liara and Garrus if both are taken on the mission.

If Thane is not in ME3 and Kirrahe is, Kai Leng will kill him. The councilor lives. When facing Kai Leng on Chronos, Shepard will say 'that's for Kirrahe, you SOB'

I say its worth saving him on Virmire since its not hard to do.

If Thane and Kirrahe are not in ME3, depending on if you visit Ashley/Kaidan in the hospital, depends on if they stand down or not during the coup. Just use the interrupt and choose the dialogue on the left

Yes, but the OP had already finished Virmire with him dead.
For what little difference he makes in ME3, I don't think it would be worth redoing it to save him.
And you have to admit, he's a bit of a cloaca.

True, but when he/she decides to do another playthrough, he/she can save Kirrahe at that time

Depends how far into the playthrough he/she is. If just finished ME1 and the only missions completed since Virmire is Ilos, it wouldn't take long to redo Virmire and Ilos.

And you have to admit, he's a bit of a cloaca.

Are you agreeing with Mordin?

I more see it as he's holding the line.

That is true. Also, the "It seems the reapers have a way of bringing us together." is among one of the best lines in the game. Too bad he dies in certain conditions.

At least for me, making he live is a must.

Thanks for all the advice. I've already started mass effect 3 now. Kirrahe is dead but Thane isn't so yeah.
