One of my favorite game challenges of all time is the Straight Character Challenge in Final Fantasy Tactics, where you intentionally limited yourself to only a single class in your party.
Dragon Age: Inquisition now has a really nice level of customizeable difficulty, with difficulty settings as well as the toggleable trials, but what about more intentional self-limitations? One tree per character, or specializations only?
Do you think any one tree would be absolutely incapable of functioning on its own? Which trees would be the easiest?
What about a thematic, roleplaying type of challenge?
Vivienne: Frost
Dorian: Inferno
Solas: Spirit
Cassandra: SnS
Iron Bull: Two-Handed
Blackwall: Vanguard
Varric: Archery
Sera: Sabotage
Cole: Stealth
Plus their specialization, of course.
Would you want to exploit crafting to make up for weaknesses, like giving Blackwall stacks of Hidden Blades to make up for the poor damage of Vanguard/Champion, or giving Cole lots of Guard on Hit to protect the fragile Stealth Assassin? Or would you rather limit crafting thematically as well, only giving Guard to tanks, Shield Bash to Cassandra, Walking Bomb to Dorian, etc? Or limiting the appropriate staves to the appropriate character?
