I have ideas for a community patch, but first I need to make sure people on PC will be okay with it. If people are not okay then I'll abandon the idea completely.

Steps I will take if I ever release a community patch:

  • Disable matchmaking and make new lobbies invite-only
  • Try to balance everything as much as possible to minimize impact on legitimate players
  • No edits on any stats/gold related files

Possible (tested) ideas:

  • Import most SP toggles
  • Import focus abilities (All except Haste)
  • Import unused abilities, recreate + balance them
  • Adding proccable passives as unlockable passives, such as Permashock (On the Saarebas because she needs it)
  • Various tweaks to some abilities/passives, such as Evasion, Smothering Veil, Wall of Hissra speed reduction, other "working as intended" passives
  • Very slight buff to Barrier
  • New one-zone maps (Horde mode anyone?)
  • Harder than Heartbreaker difficulties
  • (Faction / wave / Enemy variation selection)
  • (PVP mode)

*Italic = Tested, however would always work across all modes, so need to look into it more

Some random testing:

Don't see the point in the complete removal of matchmaking. I do like having the option to pug. So if that's a dealbreaker, then I'd be out.

Just put ping somewhere so Host see they make other players lag.

I can enable matchmaking but I'll still make created lobbies unfindable through matchmaking. Most of the stuff is host-only anyway, so nothing should break the game

added some ideas that I forgot about (pvp mode!)

I think it would be cool to do away with promotions in their current form. But, not sure if that's possible.

Maybe that's just the salty part of me hoping I'm not 1000 hours behind when I eventually get a PC.

+5.

An idea. How about an endless wave? Enemy respawn ultra fast non stop. Every enemy can leave behind a pile of ... 1 gold. Then the match finishes when everyone in the lobby is wiped.

We dont need a PvP mode... Just leave Friendly Fire on all the time xD A PvP mode will just be whoever first finishes loading the game wins.

Btw when that AW is standing still, the way he waggles is just... somewhat wrong/strange. Am I the only one feeling that?

Also include bosses every so many kills.  Basically wave 5 of different factions over and over with faster spawn times. This would actually cause me to buy the PC version just to play this.  Would love to see how high I could get my kill streak going.

No. What we need is a server/match browser so you can see and sort the difficulty, map, and ping, while also being able to see the players in each match. Creating only private lobbies is not a great idea. Of course, the option should remain, but not be the only option. I pug the majority of the time and I'm fine with that. I've played with the majority of puggers and know the names...I know who's good to play with and who isn't. I would like the ability to choose. The community doesn't need to be more 'elitist' than it already is and I really don't want to 'friend' 80% of the puggers in order to play a game.

I'm really curious as to how you intend to make this work and maintain a healthy community that is inviting to new players...and yes, there are new players.

"With great power comes great responsibility" ~some old dude

If it's cool with all the powers that be, I'd think it's a great evolution to the multiplayer aspect of DA with the potential for much more.

Lemme know if there's anything I can do to help with the project.

Also: buff COMBAT ROLL

No, I just don't want players with mods to troll regular players, who then might think they're hacking

Am I being lame or do I have a right to be somewhat salty that some guy can just hack up this game and make all this awesome stuff, but Bioware themselves couldn't offer us a quarter of that diversity?

Once again Wavebend, my hats off, sounds super cool. You might recall that I made a joke about you PC players riding around Storm Dragons on the Deep Roads map, it doesn't sound like you are too far from that.

But forgive my ignorance, this is hacking right?

Yes. Although hacking sounds like you're breaking the game (negative connotation). There are different levels of hacking though, ranging from game-breaking hacks (stats, xp, gold) to cosmetics hacks that dont affect anyone else. anything that you introduce by modding will fall into that and some people won't respond positively when they'll see other players use thousand cuts, even if decently balanced

Which begs the question.....

If Wavebend can do this on his own, why can't a multi million £ corporation?
