Any ideas on if the reapers will be making a return? I don't know much about them other than they would lie dormant out in the empty space between galaxies waiting for the next cycle but what if they weren't just sleeping? What if they were busy reaping other galaxies, like Andromeda? It's our closest neighbor galaxy so if they were visiting other galaxies it'd make sense that Andromeda would be among them.
Reapers?

I don't see a good reason for them to be in the Andromeda galaxy. Which is fine with me since the Reapers were pretty badly written villains post ME1. I'm sure the writers don't ever want to create "Uber Powerful and Invincible Ancient God Macines" ever again. It's certainly interesting and very cool to write about, until you start getting close to the point where the heroes have to confront these things and you realize you kinda wrote yourself into a wall by making the bad guys too powerful. Then from there you either have the heroes win the day in a completely unbelievable manner (conventional victory), or you break the emergency glass and pull out the deus ex machina.

I was under the impression that they weren't visiting other galaxies.
I'd rather not have to contend with something the writers spent 2 games building up as an "unstoppable force" anyway. It tends to cause issues when it comes time to stop the unstoppable enemy.

Reapers were ****. there are thousands of "monster of the week" episodes among dozens of sci-fi shows and that doesn't even count the many anime series I've never even heard of. I'm sure one of those episodes has something far better written than "ah yes, "reapers". we have dismissed that claim. again."

No.
Anything that brings back memories of Shep's demise is a no-no, IMO
Besides, The premise of a new galaxy is to present new species, new friend, new enemies. Bringing old enemies into the picture makes no sense. Else, you might as well stay in the MW. My belief is firm, that Bio made the right choice in choosing the Andromeda Galaxy as the next playground for the new ME stories.
Think of Andromeda as virgin territory.. to be explored with a steady but gentle hands.

Sure, doing Reapers again might seem like rehashing old storylines but if not Reapers it will have to be something just as big, bad, and seemingly unstoppable because we the players have already done the impossible. After destroying the reapers with Shepard, anything less will seem like small potatoes.

Or they could, ya know, be creative. It doesn't have to be another race of Eldritch Horror knock offs to be high-stakes.

I want one mission, one, that involves a Reaper corpse on some barren planet.

Well I really liked the Reapers, and all the mysteries that were around them. In fact, I think they were a really well written faction for the universe.
And, that legacy should stay as it is. Throwing them again in Andromeda would be just like what happens with Diablo, being ass-kicked lots of time and still returning from the ashes, just to be ass-kicked again. ![]()

I like for Harbinger to return. ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL. Too bad he didn't have a bigger role in ME3.
Might just get a line or two in the game mentioning reapers.
he would have made the game better.
resistance is futile...

Harbinger would have been so much better. Hate, hate, hate how they took the freakin backseat to Cerberus. No idea what Bioware was thinking at the time.
If only I could turn back time. I could warn Bioware about the current course of action they were taking. I might need to blemish the truth to get the point across, but it will be for a worthy cause of making it a better game.

If the reapers return, it might be a reason significant enough for me to NOT buy ME:A. That would mean that the writers are completely out of material and couldn't think up another villain or problem to encounter. I don't want to hash out the exact same plot again.

Honestly if they were going with the Reapers, might as well go with IT and the Reaper war continues on. Stupid, yes. But if the Reapers are going to keep being a problem might as well

yeah there may be one or 2 mentions or acknowledgements of things that happened in the original trilogy like say the Cerberus attack on the Citadel, but as for the Reapers being in Andromeda I doubt that very much. Otherwise there wouldn't be any point to the original trilogy in the first place

While I don't think the Reapers should be in Andromeda, I would like to see evidence that they have been to Andromeda. Learn that during the 50,000 years between cycles they don't sit on their laurels but are harvesting the other galaxies in the Local Galactic Group. All Bioware would have to do is have planetary Codex entries reference eerily similar extinction events like they did in the Shepard Trilogy and have things like a Citadel and Mass Relays.
