Solas sounds like he thinks even he himself will perish in the process of doing what he plans to do, so I imagine all or most of them will be destroyed.

Just an opinion question...what are your thoughts?

Merrill doesn't exist since she was one too many mage in her original clan so she got kicked out and eaten by wolves.  Any memory one might have of Merrill is inaccurate because Bioware decided to change reality.

She would like the knowledge, but would not support elves being harmed. She is trying to help the elves, not destroy the world as she knows it for others she doesn't know.

You should report to the Ben Hassrath re-educators.  They can fix that. ;)

I honestly think she'd be devastated and would stick around Hawke's gang if she's loyal to them or join his side if she doesn't have any affinity left with them.

As with any Dalish, unless she met Solas personally, it would depend on whether she trusted the messenger.    If she was being told by the Inquisitor, having been introduced by Varric, then it is likely she would believe what they told her.    So then it is a matter of whether she would support Solas in his desire to restore the elven people, even at the expense of everyone else including the modern elves (which I think is unlikely) or whether she would simply see it as vindication of her Dalish beliefs that the Dread Wolf was responsible for the loss of their gods and everything they suffered as a result and regardless of his claimed intentions, would oppose him with the same determination she originally brought to recovering their history.   It has to be remembered that the characters in game do not know what he did to Mythal, so as far as the Inquisitor is concerned Mythal is still out there somewhere and Merrill would likely turn to her over the Dread Wolf, if nothing else to check she supported his plans.    An interesting thought, if the Inquisitor drank from the Well, would the spirits be able to tell them that something had happened to Mythal?

As for the rest of the Dalish, again would their hatred of humans and desire to a return of elven glory sway them over their prejudice against the Dread Wolf?    If they are sensible they would trust to their memories of the Dread Wolf and not trust him but on the whole the Dalish as depicted in game and books, tends towards them being shown as ignorant and stupid, so likely to enthusiastically embrace his idea of restoring elven glory, particularly since he'd probably miss out the bit about them all dying in the process.

"Shemlin lies"

It's Varric who tells her.

I think it would depend on her relationship with Hawke in DA2. I think that if you go through with her full story arch she'd not join/agree with Solas - if Hawke is her friend, Merrill will probably remember that it was her clan that abandoned her and Hawke who took her in; and if Hawke rivaled her, she has realized the damage her obsession with elven history has caused to her and her clan. If you never completed her personal quests though... I'd almost say that she'd at least be intrigued by the idea, and if Solas never reveals her his true plan in this entirety and what would happen as a result, I think he could persuade Merrill to join. Merrill's fascination with the elven culture, lore and history does make her a prime target for Solas either way - particularly if she didn't smash her eluvian and Solas is not only able to control the eluvians but also able to repair and cleanse them...

personally, I'd love to see !spiritCole, non-romanced Merrill, who didn't destroy the eluvian, Feynriel and Velanna in Solas' team. I think that would be interesting.
