Yes but Jack running around like that was dumb.

I think you nailed it. I couldn't pin down why she's been my favorite character for so long, and now I figured it out.

Because it's dumb.

I need more things like this. Hopefully MEA delivers.

If Mass Effect aliens appearing to human bothers you, then you would not like Star Trek. Most of every alien the Enterprise crew encounter are basically humans with birth defects.

Anyway, I would not mind some aliens looking similar to humans.

And the same with  Star Wars, Babylon 5, Farscape, Battlestar Galactica, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Stargate, and Space: 1999.

I hope that's sarcasm.

I'm for dumb entertainment. But MEs transition to being that dumb is a flaw. It was a bad genre shift.

It's not sarcasm. ME2 is my favorite of the series. Warts and all.

The intro is still dumb as hell though -- and dumb in the actually bad way. ;)

It's my favorite as well but catsuit and breathers were still flaws for me. Fun characters, good game play, great dialogue and my favorite story makes it great. But wearing body armor would have made it better. Jack felt less authentically Jack by wearing straps into combat. The character they wanted to portray would have been in a combat suit.

Are the Halo 5 Guardians aliens alien enough for you?

My knowledge of Halo lore has atrophied after I lost interest in the series, but aren't the Promethens just 'digitized' humans turned into robots? *And if that's the case, why does one need to digitize people, wouldn't constructing a robot out of metal bits and wires be easier?

I'm probably wrong here, but it's not like the games put the in-world terminals in easily accessible locations (like say a codex menu), and I don't want to have to dig into seperate novels or short films to know who someone like Laskey is and why he and the Chief apparently know each other. But that's another topic.

Yes, they are. Which is why I asked.

Its a nice idea but gameplay wise you have to have allies and enemies that can hold a gun, and are easy to animate. Humanoid form is easy. If everyone is some lovecraftian monster it would not work so well. Not to mention relating to them would be hard as hell.

I mean imagine having a companions like this, how would it exactly work?

Besides we cant really say what is most realistic for an alien form. Humanoid form could be quite common, its efficient and simple. Bilateral symmetry does dominate in earth bioforms as we can see.

The Covenant species are some of my favorite aliens in videogames. Mass Effect could definitely use a Hunter type of species. The Prometheans and Forerunners can **** off.
