Cool M.E. trilogy reference BioWare could implement in ANDROMEDA

I was reading up on some of the features of the future Mass Effect installment and, since it would seem that the next game (ANDROMEDA) will not be directly related to the original trilogy's story. I thought of something cool that I think a lot of us, Mass Effect fans, would enjoy seeing in the game. As such, I'll write here so that others may react to this and let Bioware/EA know whether you actually consider this a good idea and, maybe they might implement it into the actual game.

--> I was thinking that, seeing as the story takes place way later after the reaper invasion, if we can actually choose which race we can play as (i.e. Turian, Krogan, etc...) it would be awesome if the last name of the character was a throw back to the original crew members of the Normandy. For example: a turian would be Vakarian (Garrus's descendant), a krogan would be Urdnot (Wrex's descendant, and so on...

Let me know what you guys think.

P.S.: I would appreciate some reaction from the Bioware officials to this post as well if you may.

Confirmed human only. I'd say sorry, but I'm happy with it.

Personally I just want a couple Easter eggs. Something like refund guy asking for a refund at tbe Dock of wherever we land saying he wanted a ticket too noveria not another galaxy if they can't send him back he wants his money back.

Err... I'm surprised more people don't realize the whole point of leaving the Milky Way was to avoid the endings. As such, the most likely scenario seems to be that we will depart the Milky Way at least before the Crucible fires, regardless of when we arrive, and it will be a one-way trip.

I know that doesn't preclude the presence of a descendant of the original squad, but it would be rather implausible.

It's reasonable to expect that the new characters will make plenty of references to the Milky Way Galaxy in regards to the origins of the project that would lead to the expedition to Andromeda, but in terms of referencing characters and story elements from the Original Trilogy, I don't see them doing that. I mean an easter egg sure, but nothing of significance.

I really don't want a bunch of ties to the trilogy and the main characters of it. Running into the same companions over and over already made the Mass Effect "universe" feel small. I don't want to start out the new games with a new galaxy feeling just as small.

I would be fine with finding a Reaper corpse on a remote planet and indications that it got rekt by the Remnant, or a commanding officer saying "I'm assuming direct control of this mission," stuff like that. But I don't want Wrex's daughter and Garrus' son joining the ARKCON crew, winking to the player like silly fanservice. We've had more than enough fanservice in this series already.

I agree. It's like almost every star wars game where you run into Chewbacca or Luke every five minutes.

And since just about everyone can die throughout the trilogy, the descendants option just isn't for me.

Copied and pasted for another topic

10:33 "its not an essential part of the story" but he doesn't say she is not mentioned at all, we'll have reference of her... well after all she helped giving shape to an entire galaxy (literally), i wish something like our new character do an extraordinary act and a krogan call her a shepard or see a quarian vas normandy or vas vakarian, read a part of "the journeys with the prothean" something like that.

Where does that Twitter exchange contain the timeline of events from ME3 to ME:A?

And the game taking place after the time of ME3 doesn't mean the endings will be addressed. If they were going to address the endings they wouldn't bother changing the setting to a new galaxy. The Ark/ARKCON could leave during the Reaper War and the main events of the game could pick up 500 years later when the Ark gets to Andromeda. The Ark/ARKCON could leave between ME2 and ME3, go through a wormhole and end up 1,000,000 years later than from the time they left.

Yeah, but we've been keeping it all secret.

ME1-ME3 are slowly meant to be the things of the past now.

I doubt BioWare wants to reference Shepard's team in Andromeda... unless as a small Easter-Egg.

Me missing something is far from unheard of. So it seemed worth checking.

Don't worry, if anything happens there will be 37 threads here about it within the day. And then there will be 46 threads of people making sophomoric predictions based on clues that don't exist.

Yeah but if the topic title is something like More sexy Time next games I might have just ignored it. :)

You are right on this. I'm chalking my idle thought up too it still being far too early without enough coffee.

Huh!! I'm sleep and coffee deprived but I don't think I'd get your point(not pony auto corrupt)fully awake.

They can leave before ME3 ends timeline wise, not knowing anything makes sure there is no canon ending.

They could leave after and have a reason colonists are not effected and have a import or keep affect codex entries as well but that is a lot more work to pull off well.

If you truly read about the new features of ME:A, then you know Bio specifically said the PC is human.

At this stage of game development, I doubt Bio will change the game's Voice Actors, dialogue and story plot to suite a cool idea.

The people that say is going to be before the ending is because they didn't like it that's why that kind of people still waiting for that to happen...but they will be disappointed

What are you talking about? How is their decision to not have a canon ending/galaxy state a timeline of events from ME3 to ME:A?

Cool theory.

I don't care either way but I don't think you can logically state either method is the super likely result. So um decent chance you will be disappointed.
