It depends. Some of responses are dick-ish, sure, but so are some purple ones. Overall red personality comes as blunt, 'in your face' type rather than dick. Regardless, in my experience picking only one type of responses rarely serves well in fleshing out a character.

Most of my playthroughs have been aggressive including my canon. It's definitely my favorite personality. I wasn't 100% dick (by far mostly aggressive options though), nor does being aggressive necessarily always mean being dickish. It's often just blunt; sometimes even funny.
"You were a pain before. You'll be insufferable as captain."
"I barely knew what it was. It stood in my way so I killed it."
"When you don't tell me what I want to know... it just makes me want to hit you."
"I don't like friends I never met."
Then there are the exclusive options only aggressive Hawke can pull off.
Ex: Successfully threatening the dock worker for the cargo location
Ex: Siding with Petrice
Ex: Making Isabela think you're actually selling her out to Castillon
I'm not sure what experiences you actually want to know about though. There's a good video showing some of the best aggressive Hawke moments.

My questions? Mmm...
Well, how are the relationships with your companions? I'd imagine everyone hates you, possibly with Fenris being the exception.

I didn't find aggressive Hawke so much of a dick as I found it a bit dry for my liking, although still better than diplomat, which I just cannot get into at all. I do like some of the bonuses that come with it though, like being able to side with that sneering a-hole Petrice. Sarcastic Hawke is easily the biggest jerk of them all, which is a big part of why it's my favorite. Being flippant and insensitive to the feelings of the cretins of Thedas is where my heart lies.

"What do you call it when you kill someone and take their stuff?"
"Tuesday."
*sees a pretty lake* "Oh, look. Something to drown in."
There's also the moment you meet Merrill. Hawke is so much of a douche that Carver becomes a gentleman. "Ignore my older brother, miss. He’s being more of an ass than usual. I’m Carver Hawke."
I'm trying to think what the other companion interactions are like. It's been a long time and I don't think I completed my aggro playthrough. IIRC, aggressive mage Hawke REALLY hates the Templars. Fenris gets along very well with him/her (if you tell him he whines too much, he basically goes "lol ur so right *brofist*"). Relationship with Carver is predictably tense (especially if you're romancing Merrill).
I can't really remember much else.

I had rivalries with all but Isabela, Merrill, and Varric. ...But I wasn't auto-bottom option. There wouldn't be much role-playing if that was the case. Like with Varric/Isabela I'd be sarcastic/diplomatic at times. With Merrill your actions have much more influence than being aggressive to influence if she likes you. Fenris is also very tolerable of aggression, but I happened to almost always make choices he disagreed with (which was funny). Sebastian was unique in earning rivalry largely by supporting him taking back Starkhaven.
I have tried to be rivals with Varric in the past but the game makes it too difficult. Just agreeing to do quests can earn massive friendship. He also doesn't have strong opinions about anything so when you do earn rivalry it's usually like 5 points. It's not even funny to rival him like it is for characters like Aveline (probably the best), Fenris, and Anders. It's just being mean.
Rivaling Isabela is also difficult for similar reasons to Varric with another issue being she thinks you're a boy scout. The thing is, aggressive Hawke usually isn't so rivaling her wouldn't make much sense.
But seriously, aggressive Hawke rivaling Aveline is one of the best relationships in the game IMO.
"If you're going to coddle your men expect someone to take issue."
"I need to know if you're going soft."
Note: Personally, I think the voice acting is better with femHawke.

It's my favorite personality, but I rarely pick aggressive options when speaking with companions (unless I'm rivaling Merrill - there it sounds more like a gruffy concern. Or Sebastian!). Otherwise, the character becomes a caricature of itself (pretty much like any other personality if you mindlessly hit the same color button).
I have a rule of thumb that generally serves me well:
-don't pick red when speaking with followers;
-don't pick purple when something real bad happens;
-don't pick blue when dealing with Kirkwall's bullshiet.

For me diplomatic is impossible to play through. Never could finish it. Humorous is ok... It feels like Hawke knows they're untouchable though as they grin in the face of danger all the time. ...And I find it kind of annoying. Aggressive just feels right to me, and more real.

Also, does the murder knife bother you as a mage?

You mean voice acting? Male, imho. Female delivers some lines as bullying when male sounds merely blunt.
Murder knife doesn't bother me as any class. Hawke shanks people when it's close and personal, I interpret it as fury or bloodlust.

Who does it better, male or female Hawke?
Also, does the murder knife bother you as a mage?
I like both male and female. Male sounds more outwardly threatening, and femHawke's aggressive voice is dripping with disdain. They're both very good.
Murder knife doesn't bother me as a mage, because any sane person wandering around Kirkwall is going to have a knife on them.

Btw, murderknife option isn't restricted to a red!Hawke, except for one cutscene (Danzig), so idk what it has to do specifically with aggressive personality.

Apostates generally need to lay low in order to remain free. No rational mage would openly threaten people and draw attention like that.

There's one more thing that makes Aggressive Hawke better suited for warriors and rogues.
Apostates generally need to lay low in order to remain free. No rational mage would openly threaten people and draw attention like that.
Eh, the whole "laying low" thing makes no sense for mage Hawke anyway. Hawke would have been exposed upon reaching Kirkwall when they had that fight in the Gallows.

I think aggressive mage Hawke's response to Templar scrutiny is basically "try me."

That's true, but I was thinking roleplay wise.
