I'm wondering what players think are their personal favorite class to play as. I prefer playing as solider cause I like to just go guns in blazing and not worry about biotics and tech powers. I've never actually played as any other class so maybe I'm bias. What are people's thoughts on the matter?

Then the only two classes really worth mentioning are Infiltrator and Vanguard.

 

• An Infiltrator with Assault Rifle or Shotgun as a bonus power is essentially a Soldier that can do its own unlocking. No need to drag Tali or Garrus around. That way you can bring Wrex and Ashley for a team that can soak up incredible amounts of damage while still unlocking everything. Soldier with Heavy Armor and Shock Trooper specialization can take more damage that the Infiltrator but it is hardly noticeable.
• An Infiltrator with AI Hacking as a bonus power is essentially a better Engineer. No Neural Shock, but you gain Immunity and Medium armor.
• A Vanguard with Singularity as a bonus power is practically a better Adept. No Bastion Stasis, but Adrenaline Burst means you can cast two Lifts and two Singularities and two Throws in rapid succession, plus Medium armor.

Sentinel with Singularity is like an Adept that can unlock everything on its own.

 

In ME1, the hybrids are generally better than the pure classes. Soldier is fine (I don't mind it), but I feel that the Infiltrator can do everything the Soldier can already do plus unlock everything on its own.

 

To each their own though.

Soldier is probably my favorite in ME1 even though I like every class.  I would recommend giving the other classes a chance though, they are all fun in their own way, even if there is some overlap.

 

From a power standpoint, I agree with Red that Infiltrator and Vanguard are probably better.

I agree. The thing that sucks is that it's necessary to play as an Adept/Soldier/Engineer in order to unlock Singularity/Assault Rifles/Hacking, respectively. Also, the first character never can get a bonus talent, only the subsequent ones, and it's impossible to re-spec the talents...
Fortunately, this was corrected in 2 and 3.

Only play as enginner/adept if you have it on easy mode.

My assessment of the "best class" in ME1 has been distorted by bonus talents (they can seriously tip off the balance), different difficulty settings during each playthrough, some cheats/console commands in some playthroughs, and my inexperience during the first ones.
The best answer I can give is: it depends on the bonus talent you'll pick.

Soldier is best for a speedrun since Shepard just bulldozes through the enemy

 

For fun I like adept. With lift and singularity, it makes for a lot of flying enemies

yeah Soldier and Adept aer my top 2 as well I like Bulldozing things but I also like sending things flying.but just like @capn233 I enjoy playing as all 6 classes for different reasons. Currently playing as an Infiltrator atm cloaking and snipinjg everything.
