Right at this moment: I am thinking about my day at the Renaissance faire and wondering what my ancestors were doing. Let's see, Katherine of Aragon was still alive, which means some of them were urging Henry VIII to dump her so they could break with the Vatican. Politics!

Most of western Europe! Merchants, captains, physicians, judges, skilled craftspeople, some nobles. All Protestants after those movements began. I know what some of them were doing at that time. I was watching the jousters and thinking about Queen Juana of Spain. They did a good job portraying her at the faire, pointing out that labeling her "Mad" was a convenient way of dealing with a woman inheriting the kingdom of Spain: as in "Let's say she's insane, lock her up, and take control of all her property."

So, you are some kind of slavic girl? or descendent. If you go further east, will probably be having problems with Mongols, like me, I guess. We may even be distant relatives.

By that time, the portuguese guys were in Brazil already and in Russia some wars was going on, as always.

So the fair was in the years around 1500 then, was it a specific year played out? Did they have live acting among the crowd? That is fun when the actors start to play out some scene right next to you.

@Uccio - Yes, it's live actors. It's always set in the Tudor period. I liked it that they had the two queens this year, especially because fewer and fewer Americans are of English descent. The jousting team for our side came from the Holy Roman Empire :)

@Red - nope, I have the tiniest bit of Slav, but the majority is German, British and French with a little Scandinavian, Finnish, Iberian, Italian, Sardinian and North African/Middle Eastern. When I look at my paternal uncle's DNA, there are tiny bits of Balkan and Ashkenazi, too. I have a hunch that the Iberian/N. African is from a Sephardic ancestor, but I don't know for sure. There were some Venetians if you go back to the 1500s, and it seems I have a few South American cousins whose families were from Genoa.

My known ancestors came from Germany (Rhine areas), England, Scotland, Northern Ireland (Scots, basically), Switzerland (German part), France (Poitiers and Brittany), Belgium/Holland and what was at the time Norway and is now Sweden.

That's a huge mix. I'm not so mixed guy.

I remembered that Aeducan is a fan of the Romans, his name on Steam is a Roman name and image too, hahaha, he should be my fan too, I am a direct child of Rome. :P
I Am East Slav, who are almost Byzantine. I speak a Latin language and I am descended from Latin guys, one more point. The only barbarian part would be from my mother, she is German, was born there. Sad
And after that every Russian is descended from Ukraine, so they are Scandinavian as well. Sad²

Hey, are you Rusyn/Lemko by any chance? Many of them are Greek Catholic. Which part of Germany is your mom from? Maybe we're cousins.

My neighbor is Ukrainian, but I don't know which part he's from.

My mother is from Berlim.

And, well, take into account, I am Ukrainian, since they give birth to Russia, but in these days, I don't think so. But I lived relatively close to there, I met many Ukrainians. They speak Russian very well.

Oh, sorry, I was confused about the Latin connection. I always side with the barbarians, as you know.
