So can the Shaman, obviously. I reiterate, your problems with the Shaman appear to be entirely of the L2 variety...

Wraith works on anyone, so that's not an excuse.
\And he's pretty garbage, because other Krogans have grenades to wipe spawns in seconds or unbelievable shield/health recharge, so they basically can stand on ramps and tank bosses forever. Shaman can't do either.
If I want to melee, there are better Krogans at that (like the Hammer Time Sentinel) and if I want to biotcally explode things, there are much better kits than Shaman. He's just dull to me, crappy mobility, slow cooldowns, weaker melee, weak crowd control cause of slow cooldowns and still super vulnerable to sync-kills.
2/10 would not headbutt.
Krogan Jesus (nickname for the Krogan Shaman Adept, courtesy of Eternal Break on XBL) is incredibly fun to play.
First: he's a tanky adept. Do you like to Warp things and then detonate for that satisfying explosion sound? Do you hate getting dropped in one burst from a Cannibal? Krogan Jesus to the rescue! Yeah, you should still use RHA and all that crap, but duuuude... you've got 1000 barriers with 0 Fitness and it only gets better from there. Because of all those barriers you don't need Cyclonics on him, so you can take Adrenaline Module or even Power Efficiency to reduce your cooldowns while you wait for better/lighter weapons.
Second: Shockwave is f*cking awesome. On PC you take 4a Force & Damage (4b Radius is bugged), and may as well go 6a Recharge Speed (6b Lifting Shockwave is pointless). Now you have a 1200N stagger power... that's enough to stagger everything except bosses. Tired of Geth ruining your day? Turn the tables by repeatedly Shockwaving them. Phantom closing in? Shockwave. Nemesis won't hold still? Shockwave.
Second And A Halfth: put on Geth Scanner once you get it and you can see targets to Shockwave through walls. Of course, you can Shockwave through walls anyway if you know something is there.
Third: Warp is a great power. 4b/5b/6a, always.
Fifth: he's not really that cooldown dependent. Yeah, you'll miss out on detonating your own Warp/Shockwave combos if your cooldown isn't low enough, but you're not solo'ing, right? Warp stuff to debuff it and set it up for your teammates while you shoot it (Warp Ammo is awesome on Krogan Jesus), Shockwave if you need to stagger or if the target was already biotically primed.
Sixth: you're a f*cking Krogan! Headbutt in between waves and bust out the occasional Heavy Melee backhand against unshielded targets. Then laugh!

This guy gets it. He should get a PS3 so we can have an all Krogan Jesus game.
Except your complaint was about cooldowns. Wraith gives even the most persnickety player acceptable cooldowns. And most of us have figured out by now that maxed out cooldowns are overrated. Classic diminishing returns situation. The fact that the "wraith works on anyone" is exactly correct and therefor exactly the counterargument to your complaint about barrier's effect on cooldowns. ? So, I guess, that means you won your point. On both sides.
The shaman's only dull if you play him with dullness. 2000 hours erm xpert playr, nerbs, check meh 200k? And yet you seem a bit clueless There are 60 kits and 200 ways to play them. Shaman is a nice change of pace from the other krogans and the other biotics. High shields, lots of biotic explosions, cooldowns don't matter, stronger melee than 90% of kits, good crowd control powers, two or three tactical playstyles available.
Obviously he's not going to win any min/max competition, but none of the krogans would anyway. All of your opinions seem like they're for other games or maybe sometime around July 2012. GI uber alles!

I will say he is great for when you are levelling your adept class.
Most adepts are pretty squishtown, but you can take him to Gold with no points in fitness at all and not feel like an idiot for doing so.
