My only gripe, albeit minor, was that it just had to be the only black dude on the ship to do it. Imagine the uproar if we got to Menae and found that Garrus coupled up with a turian female despite romancing Shepard. The rage would burn hotter than that orange blaze seen on Palaven XD

But it would be just so funny if that were to happen. Legions of people claiming they are done with Bioware, the pointless petitions. It would be a cleansing fire that purges the board of nuisances and I would make myself a Gin and tonic a hint of lime, and watch the tears.

Because people actually like Garrus. No one gives a crap about Jacob because he was completely boring and the romance was cringey as hell.

I understand that popularity was the main factor in what happened to Jacob's temporary prizemance, but I'm just thinking in text about how chaotic it would be if Garrus pulled a Jacob. For balance's sake, I'd say that having either Jack or Miranda do the same would be more fitting. Can't let FemShep be the only one to feel the burn (although that's exactly what happened anyway).

It wouldn't bother me if Garrus was with another Turian since I don't romance him and he's not around in most of my ME3 playthroughs. Excellent

I agree that romances like Kelly's didn't deserve to get shoe-horned like that, but what happened with Jacob I kinda accepted because I felt that it added realism. Sure, it was not dealt with in the best way, but I felt that most romances where slightly over the top in 'player worship'. I also accepted what happened with Kaiden and Ashley, because its not realistic to think that a person would just accept someone coming back from the dead after two years of mourning, with the added factor of Cerberus on top. In that manner I always found Liara to be slightly weird about that whole thing, but then again it was basically her plan to revive Shep all along.

Now Im thinking about the fact that basically Shep is an undead cyborg...great.

You exclusively romanced boring, throwaway characters.

But Liara, Tali, and Garrus seemed to get lots of content.

Even if you think all 3 of those characters are boring you can't call them throwaway characters. They're prominent in all 3 games.

No, we needed more of this and for the options that the male fanbase were predisposed toward.

Liara cheats with Feron (has buildup and would do much to dispel her rep as a creepy Shep stalker)
Miranda gets back with Jacob (who is actually two (three?) timing her with Dr. Cole as well because he's a total shitbag racist caricature)
Tali cheats with Reegar (this one is cute and makes more sense than the nonsensical solution to all quarian immuno deficiency symptoms being getting coked up to the eyes on antibiotics or antihistimines)
Ash with Garrus (c'mon, they're like racist militaristic little little peas in a pod and it was obviously foreshadowed with the "kiss a turian" comment anyway)

However, just to be equal oppourtunity.

Kaidan should cheat with Steve. (would make fangirls angry but unable to express it without accusations of homophobia and prejudice against Kaidan's manner of coming out from angry SJWs)
Thane fakes his death and retires back to Kahje to be with Niftu Cal (because my creativity is depleted at this point)
Garrus already mentioned. If Ash not around than he is married off to Urdnot Bakara to cement Turian-Krogan alliance.

RL romance is full of drama. The vast majority of romantic relationships end in failure and the game should reflect this. The deluge of fanboi/fangirl tears would be a mere bonus on the side.

Why would you torture yourself with gin when good booze is available. Learn to rum.

I hope female protagonist romances in MEA does not get the Jacob/Thane romance treatment (though Thane's romance was unique and the upmost emotional one).

I wouldn't object to it. Just as long as a male protagonist romance goes down the same path, for balance.

Or at least a renegade interrupt with a biotic blast to their gonads if they do so.

I like different kinds of romances. Why all of them need to be for life?
I really like the fact that there are options like Jacob with things not ending well, better than every available romance option leading to a "happily ever after".

Le Sigh...decent choice.  But how about a Dark and Stormy: Rum, ginger ale and a splash of lime.  Mai Tai: lime juice, orange curacao, orgeat(preferably homemade) simple syrup, dark jamican rum and Martinique rum.  Trust me, I could go on. Gin is vodka flavored with juniper berries or basically something nasty as juniper berries are horrible.

Not all relationships work out or go anywhere. I don't mind being surprised.

You exclusively romanced boring, throwaway characters. Get better taste and you might not face this problem in the future.

To say they are boring is very unfair given how subjective taste is, and if they were so disposable, then BioWare should not have made them romance options to begin with to avoid players getting attached to characters they weren't supposed to.

I would love it if they abandon the romance options all together and concentrate solely on the "actual" story. And for a "m" rated game the romance stories (Options) are done so juvenile its pretty comical.

I think they just shouldn't abandon good characters like Emily Wong and Shiala anymore.

If it means anything, it only affected like a dozen people.

I'll admit I "romanced" Diana once. First time I played ME3 was after my ME2 files had been deleted and I had traded in my copy of ME2, so I was counting on there being another prequel comic to establish choices without needing the import. That didn't happen.

I was given the opportunity to romance Ashley or Liara but I don't like Ashley or Liara, and I decided that as this character hadn't really established anything serious up until this point, they'd just stick to the casual and meaningless.

Not long after I reacquired ME 2, replayed my canon run, romanced Miranda only to be supremely disappointed by her pre-citadel treatment.

Jacob-mancers certainly had it the worst, but prior to Citadel being released - and even with Citadel, really, on the whole - Miranda and Jack-mancers got kind of screwed over as well. Thane-mancers should have known what they were getting into - my secondary playthrough is a Thanemancing renegade shep and I have no real complaints.

I think it's fair to say that Liara is the only one with a consistently good relationship across all three games if one includes LotSB in there, and Garrus and Tali benefit from being squadmates in all three and their romances carrying over consecutive games.

I didn't understand the complaints about Thane dying either. The first thing he says to Shepard in ME2 is that he is dying. It wasn't like Thane dying at some point during ME3 was a surprise. His final moments at Huerta Memorial were also one of the best and most emotional scenes of the entire series.

The only complaint from the Thanemancers that I sympathized with was that he had very little content in ME3 before the death scene, and that prior to the Citadel DLC no one really acknowledged his death.

Stop going for the boring side characters and you might get more meaty content, seriously, try the games at least once with say Tali, Liara or Garrus.

Kelly is so inconsequential the game doesn't even reward the romance achievement for it, and Diana is, well...
