Because there's a lot of things I've found to be unable to pull. Why can quizzy pull a rage demon but not a goat? >.>

Yeah, it doesn't always work. I never bothered to figure out why, just assumed it had something to do with whether or not the target was resistant to stunning, knock back or knock down.

Can you grappling chain any animals?   Even fennecs.. I don't think you can actually pull many animals?

Best guess, it has a similar mechanic to da2's pull of the abyss. Creatures with more than two legs can't be pulled. Just tried on a wraith and it didn't work. weird that the rage demon does though

It's because Wraith's have physical immunity, since they're - you know - ethereal  :P  Rage Demons are physical. A weird one is that Phoenixes can be knocked down, but not grappled. So it just seems not to work on any animal, physical immunity or not.

It generally doesn't work on the larger animal life or the heavier melee fighters.

I don't know why it doesn't work on nugs; maybe it's because they're too fat?

It's the little hands. They grip the ground too well.

Goats are supposed to be thrown, not pulled (unless you play Fallout).

But then why does it work on despair demons?
And good grief 2 handed tanking is rough. Just learned that I can't use block and slash on genlock alphas at all. wonder why I can't pull genlocks actually.
I can pull terror demons as well. Can pull wolves and mabari too.

Despair Demons are physical manifestations, Wraiths are not. Right, it works on dogs, I forgot.

It doesn't work on normal genlocks though which seem small enough.

Well, the genlocks we see in Inquisition (as opposed to the ones in DA:O) are very bulky and muscular, but it's true that the ability is inconsistent.

Considering a terror demon probably weighs as much as a normal genlock I dunno.
It really doesn't make sense >.>

To be honest, I find it even more weird that Block & Slash works on Dragons but not on Bears.

Or is it just for me? (Not that I'm particular great with this skill, took me a while to get the hang of it.)

Terrors are awfully skeletal and are fade creatures, so who knows? :P

I haven't used it against bears, but maybe it's because the dragon kicks count as melee attacks but not the bears' attacks? Or maybe the bears' swipe attacks count but not their AoE knockdown?

I honestly have no clue! It's just, I can block the huge Dragon feet with my sword, but not the considerably smaller Bear paw? It's just, where's the logic in that?
But we really shouldn't start thinking about these things too hard....  :P

Actually you can B&S bears but not the AOE. Can't block any aoe or projectile.

Really? Then I stand corrected! The AI still uses it better than me, so I'm not surprised that it actually does work... :bandit:

Yeah, if you start thinking about whether the abilities make sense, you'll be disappointed, or at least confused

How exactly do you even hold onto your weapon during whirlwind? wouldn't the momentum fling it out of your hands?

Not if you're strong! But apparently it has reverse physics anyway, since its new upgrade actually pulls things in, presumably weapon included. If you want to talk about abilities that don't make sense, I present Hook and Tackle and Fallback Plan.
