I'm pretty sure BioWare's past the DLC companion thing after Shale, Sebastian and Javik. Is it possible they'd do it again? Sure. Do I think they will? No, not really. I can't recall ever paying for an ending. Some here might argue that Trespasser is an example, but those people would be wrong. The Extended Cut is the only ending I can think of that they ever released after the game, and that was free. As for the character creator, I'd say the chances of that being a paid add-on is about the same as a snowball's in hell.

I'm glad you're so optimistic.
If a comp sees potential profit in something, they'll do it= snowballs in hell apparently.

If you were told just a couple years ago about micros in a $60 or more game, you would've probably laughed your ass off, I know I would've.

It's a progression,
For example,
What do you think the price point of a DLC will be next year? $20? $30? More?
Mark my words, it'll get there.
(Now,
Just watch people respond "oh, I'll never buy a DLC at $20, $30 etc.!!!"
And then they'll add the caveat;
*"Unless it's this or that or includes X blah blah blah." But when it gets there, they'll buy.

Of course the sweet irony of this is that the same people now saying "you're self entitled whiners etc etc" will start to complain, but it'll be to late

I think Micros are the "tip-o-the-iceberg" and we're riding around on the titanic proclaiming "it will never sink...."

But don't misunderstand me,
I'm not preaching from moral high ground here,
I'm as guilty as the next person for purchasing crap. I'm not saying "refuse to buy!" Or "Don't buy!" Or "buy=bad, refuse to buy=good"

But the reality is this,
Many many many Dev's have began to dip their toe in the water to see exactly what they can get away with. At this point, our rage and outcry has stemmed the flow, but that won't work forever, in fact the dike is failing already....

But,
Don't mind me,
I'm just simply making an observation and prediction.
:)
When it gets there, as I said, it will, I'll request my user name to be changed to Nostradamus, you've been informed mods :)

I don't have a problem with a payment system like in the ME3MP. No one ever used it, except of a few richpeople who couldn't wait to buy packs with credits. But no microtransactions in the SP. DLCs are OK.

I "want" microtransactions in this as much as I want a case of the clap.

Having a cash shop for extra cosmetics and inconsequential items is one thing (not something I support except for MMORPGs, but I could live with it if it would make its way into ME:A), but actual micro-transactions need to die in a ditch.

Yes. Micro-transactions are completely OPTIONAL. I should have the option to pay for something in game increase my enjoyment of it.

The delusional entitlement of bsn here is nauseating, stop whining EA isnt forcing you to do anything.

Okay, fine. Lets put the romance content behind a micro-transaction paywall. Wanna see dem hot blue titties of your perfect asari waifu? $5,99 please. Want to see dem hips of your quarian waifu in action? Another $5,99 please.

If you're so pro micro-transactions, then you'll probably support this. After all, it's completely OPTIONAL! Right?

I for one look forward to see the chaos on the forums if EA would actually do exactly this. It's gonna be fun.

I'm surprised they haven't done romance DLC/microtransactions already tbh. Given the romance creepdom found in these parts and in the DA boards, quite a killing to be made there.

Now I want them to do that just watch the forums melt down. Also the entitlement army could explain that we're not entitled to the game loading to the front menu and we should feel fortunate if the game loads that far. LOL

most games seem to have them nowadays.

i personally dont mind. i like being able to buy a new costume here and a new gun pack there.

That's what mods should be for.

Possible sure, but likely much less profitable. Even given the popularity of romance content, the benefit of your typical Mass Effect microtransaction is that, in theory, the game can go on forever. RNG can keep you playing as long as it takes, without any additional content needing to be made.

If you're wealthy enough to have a current-gen console, you could have had a gaming PC instead (and then you'd also have a PC).

The problem is that Steam and Bethesda tried to change mods into microtransactions and didn't learn for what I got from an interview from a person at Valve is that the only mistake they made was to try it on an existing game and when they try again it will be on a new game.

I don't mind paying for mods as long as I can still modify them at no cost.

The main issue with paid mods is the legal nightmare that they create.

Valve going "Sorry, not our problem" is just going to make matters much worse.

It's a little frustrating how they just run roughshod over everything. I'm as big a steam user as anyone (by necessity, of course), but I really do hope that the other storefronts that are gaining popularity - GOG, especially - knock them down several pegs. They've earned it.

In any case, last I checked, they were only going to start doing it with their own games. Which I'm still opposed to, but they can do whatever they want. If you ask me, hard working modders stand to get back what they give and more in a well-developed modding scene, and I hope it remains a universally free hobbyist pursuit forever.

Can be, don't need to be. Steam boxes start at around $400-450, though that's not ideal since you'd want to put Windows on it to really benefit. You can make something analogous to a PS4 with a little bit more than that, with the added bonus of being expandable.

It's more fun to build your own though, and you learn something new.

Remember, when people talk about a "decent" gaming PC, they're typically talking about something that's better than the current generation of consoles. If all you want to do is match the consoles, you can go cheaper.

As long as they're only in multiplayer, I don't care. I don't want to have to pay to get a new awesome gun. I hated that I had to pay for a few guns in the past.

If you spend $1K on a PC, either you're getting ripped off or you're buying a computer that is significantly better than a current gen console.

Microtransactions in full priced games, are like buying a meal at McDonald's, paying $5-$10 (I have no idea about US food prices...) and then realizing, they want additional $1 for ice to your drink, $1 for salt to your fries, $1 for ketchup and 75 cents to give you a straw.

I can't imagine anyone would ever come back to such a restaurant, so why would anyone accept it in games?

Plus, if you spend just a little bit more on future proofing your PC, it means that just swapping out for a new GPU can be like jumping an entire console generation.
