Everytime I think of Dragon Age, I always think of the DA:O theme music whose style continued in DAII. Did anyone else wish that DAI still kept that style of theme music by Inon Zur?
Did anyone else wish DA:O theme was included in the game?

I seriously don't know who thought that Trevor Morris should compose the DAI soundtrack. His music is not memorable at all, and music is also rarely heard in the game. Only a few tunes, before they fade out. Those vast enviroments could've benefited so much from good ambient music.

I agree that the DAO music is some of the best in my gaming experience. Every time I start the game (usually by accident, these days) I get a small burst of pleasure hearing the opening theme.
I think Inon screwed the pooch when he publically complained about being "rushed" in completing the DA2 soundtrack. Given the much longer development cycle for DAI he might have had adequate time, but by then either he, or BioWare, or EA weren't interested in working together.
Or maybe he had "other committments" when they asked. Or maybe they just couldn't agree on terms. Could be lots of things...

While I adore DAO's ost, I don't dislike DAI's ost at all. I love the music that plays on the login screen, the "Love in Thedas" one, and a few others like the fight with Alexius etc. And Trespasser's music is simply gorgeous. So I'm happy with either composer. I wouldn't say that Morris' music is not memorable...

I usually like Inon Zur's soundtracks, but I don't think his Dragon Age work was the best. There's a few I really like, and a lot of stuff I find forgettable.
I actually prefer what Trevor Morris did in Inquisition, it's a shame there isn't more of it.

Not really. I found DAO's music to be kind of okay, but not all that inspiring. DAI does a much better job in that regard in my opinion. The Dawn Will Come is amazing, for example. It's much more evocative, imo, than Leliana's song in DAO.

DA:O's main theme was awesome, yes, but DA:I soundtrack was amazing too... when it played. I wish they decided to make ambient music, that was one of the best parts of Skyrim, which they supposedly took inspiration from. Anyway, I just want the music to be consistent, so I hope they get Morris to do DA4's soundtrack. I also loved that they played Hawke's theme from DA2 at a couple moments, so it might have been cool if they did a quick medley of the DA:O theme at one point too.

Well, more power to you, but that was the only song on the playlist I actively dislike. It just doesn't fit the scenes at all in my opinion. It sounds more melancholy and sad than romantic.

I'm not as huge a fan of the way the music was used, but the soundtrack itself was amazing, and I was never bothered by the absence of Inon's stuff.
I'd be hugely in favor of his return for DA4 (and I hope he draws from In Hushed Whispers for the Tevinter themes).

It's a bit like the "Superman March" not being used for Man of Steel. I like it better than the music they did use, but the film was it's own thing and all new music helped with that.
The same is true - for me, at least - with Origins and Inquisition.

Fair enough. Both artists were good. It's just I've come to associate Inon Zur's style with Dragon Age. Trevor Morris style was too different. But I did enjoy Elizaveta's songs in the game:

Agree completely. DAI's soundtrack is not bad by any means, but it's a very generic "epic" fantasy music, just not memorable at all. The only tracks that stand out to me are the main title and Cory's theme.
This song has the same tune as the theme of Dragon age: Origins
- Rise
The lyrics and vocals ruin it for me. No disrespect to the singer, she has great voice, but it just doesn't work with this piece, imo.

I actually like it, yeah
though yes, I agree that is quite sad more than romantic. Perhaps because I pair it more with Solavellan so it makes sense for the theme to be sad XD It's alright in other romances though imho, it's kinda sweet..
Just my opinion of course ;D

I think it would be nice to have that DUUNNN - DUN DUN DUNNN sound from the previous games somewhere in Inquisition's soundtrack. Just to keep some continuity, music-wise. (You know what I mean, right? Right, of course you do.)
I also think the Trespasser soundtrack was the easily the best in the series though.

While I thought the music of Trespasser was incredible and I commend Trevor Morris for it, I wasn't a big fan of the main game's soundtrack, and I was incredibly annoyed at Zur departure, because I love that gorgeous DA:O main theme and the sound he created for Dragon Age. I'll take the gorgeous DA:O main theme over the bland ProTools-reverb infested DA:I theme, always. But again, Trespasser was amazing. And it doesn't work in Morris' favor that, cutscenes aside, the orchestral score is spread very thinly and constantly fading out.

Why blame Morris? Music fading out could mainly be the audio director's fault.

Yes, I actually like it. What I really like about it is that it isn't some woman yodeling, which is what 95% of DAO's and DA2's soundtracks were. I did enjoy Inon Zur's works for the games, but the vocals were way, way, WAY too prominent. The funny thing about the human voice is that it's really polarizing. When you want to hear it, it's great. When you don't want to hear it, it's more annoying than a room full of typewriters. I appreciated that Trevor Morris's soundtrack had a more orchestral sound. It suits the mood better, IMO... and it avoids a known stress trigger for me.
Tastes vary.
