Corypheus often used his ability to cheat his death, his ability would have worked against Solas petrification?

Solas gained such power by absorbing it from Mythal.

I'm guessing yes.  If a temple leveling explosion of magical energy vaporizing his body didn't disrupt his ability, I don't think getting his body turned to stone would.

It doesn't matter how its done, if he dies what passes for his soul goes looking for a new place to take up residence.

Petrification does not equal death. It's equal being trapped in a stone body. Cory can't body jump til the body dies.

There many cases of living petrified people in da.

No, he didn't. He didn't even have the power to unlock the Orb after he woke up, so he had to find a patsy to do it for him. Thus Corypheus is stronger than Solas, and if Corypheus had won, Solas would have had no way to recover/steal the power he has two years later, since he then put all his cards on this unknown person who gained the Anchor and then failed.

I didn't get the sense that was what Solas did to the Qunari, it seems to me that he killed them.  Regardless, if he's transmuting the body to stone then the body is dead, the taint Corypheus seems to live in with his bodies is gone.  Normal souls may be trapped in these stone bodies, but normal souls can't jump bodies.  I believe he would be able to seek out a new body at that point.

One of the case I pointed out it can be reversed. And they were normal souls. It don't think stone bodes equal dead in da.  Nothing points to that.

Well the body is dead, temporarily atleast. It certainly isn't alive in any traditional sense, even if the soul is there and the process can be reversed.

Of course I'm not sure petrification would even work on Corypheus, given how powerful and virulent the taint is. I'm skeptical that it could be transmuted to stone.

There is no such thing as temporary dead in da.

I don't think we'll be able to agree on an answer given the confusion caused by gameplay-story segregation in relation to the Petrify spell in addition to potential resistances and differences between Solas' version of petrification and the previously mentioned spell.

Solas way of killing seem peculiar, petrify the body and possibly lock the soul inside of it

If he can lock the soul inside, but that part's pure speculation.

No Solas only got enough power after taking power from Mythal as he was weak after awaking after so long

I doubt that would lock the soul inside. If it can go through flesh like it was immaterial, why not stone? It's not that different.

He petrified Flemeth before to get her powers, he was capable to do that without Mythal power, those powers may have improved the spell

(since now he can do that with the glance of an eye)

I don't think that is just stone it was like a seal, otherwise FLemeth would have not sent Mythal away.
As we know soul are not forced so i doubt that Solas wanted Mythal soul, only her powers, but FLemeth decided to let Mythal escape because that attack would have locked the soul inside the stone.

Hmm OK like all living beings perhaps he was susceptible to the taint and had to be careful  plus he could of had a battle with him but even if Cory lost he could of moved to another host potentiality

I disagree though. If the body becomes a stone, the organs are dead. I know that maybe "with magic" everything is possible and it could be undone, but in reality, if your heart became a rock you would die.

Plus I'd like to share a screenshot of the last scene in Trespasser. You don't normally see this but I was using Flycam to take SS from different angles and there you go, behind my Lavellan and outside of view, is the dead body of Viddasala.. So I think he does kill them. Just in a very cool and not gruesome way. Because as he said he doesn't want people to "suffer" (yeah, makes no sense, I know :P)

Could he have killed Corypheus before gaining Mythal's Power? No.
Could he have done it after? I'm pretty sure yes. Or kill Cory's dragon first and then him. That's what the Inquisitor did after all :P
