I originally disliked the lack of healing potions, and now I despise the idiotic, brain dead moron who thought limiting players to 8 ability slots was enough, and now to top it off, I just realize I've been missing the one thing Bioware games are known for. Party Banter. It wasn't until I was trying to get Dorian and Iron Bull to hook up that no one was bantering at all. I guess EA Games is trying to destroy the Dragon Age universe like they wither everything else (and yes, I blame EA. Before EA Bioware= Quality games; After= Games that look beautiful, but actually rotten below).

Which makes it worse since I want to get a different dialogue ending, rather than Dorian saying that I'm his only friend. But it looks like this game won't be any different.

It's funny that you mention Origins, because OP says that Bioware games published by EA are garbage, and Origins was published by EA.

@OP: Lack of healing potions? Maybe if you never restock on them, you'll "lack" potions, but if you're even halfway competent with them, you shouldn't be lacking anything.

Also, party banter is "the one thing" that Bioware games are known for? Really? That's a good one.

That doesn't sound like something Grand Admiral Thrawn would say! Heresy!

I don't think I have ever had to use more than 2 or 3 heal potions through my Nightmare run, and never use them in anything below NM. And, party banter has worked for me, well, forever. That said, people did have issues with it and in the last 3 or 4 patches there have been quite a few changes made to fix/improve it. /shrug

I don't think the banter bug is the result of an Evil Plot by EA.

But everything is the result of EA. The Holocaust, 9/11, the Black Dahlia murder, the Rotherham child abuse scandals, Charles Manson, all done by EA. You know the story of Frankenstein? By Mary Shelley? That was an allegory for the founding of EA.

Only clicked on thread because of glaring typo in thread title. Is EA to blame for that too?

I do find it particularly amusing when people complaining about bugs in BW games blame EA. It's as if they never actually played any of BW's earlier games. Hell, ToB was literally unplayable for me for a couple of months after release due to issues with some CDROM drives preventing the game from running full stop. And this was back before the internet was as widespread as it is today, so getting patches was not always an easy thing to do (in this case I had to get a friend to download it, burn it to a disc and give it to me at school).

The Baldur's Gate games were pretty hilariously buggy, yeah. And I abandoned my first attempt at playing KoTOR because the game just wouldn't stop crashing after I left Taris. And I had to download a fan patch to progress during Jade Empire when I ran into a game-breaking bug. Honestly, by cRPG standards, Inquisition is pretty amazingly unbuggy! I mean, even the notorious banter bug doesn't even approach the disasters you get in Arcanum, or your average pre-patch Bethesda game. Let us not even speak of Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. Roleplaying games are huge and have a lot of moving parts, and therefore a tendency to be full of errors.

My favourite BioWare bug is still the cat that reports you to the guard for stealing. Even funnier than Invisible King Alistair in Origins.

My favorite bug was the one where Kaidan punched a krogan through the floor. Badass.

Oh, Kotor. It was a bother to figure out how to prevent the various crashes and such but it became hilarious in hindsight to see all of the hoops I tried and had to jump through to make sure I could play the game: I mean, I had to turn down specifically the grass detail to avoid crashing when going to Dantooine and I windowed my game always when travelling into space. I dreaded going into space more because of the risks of crashes than the risk of Sith ambushes and then there were the joys of segments where the bug would happen at the end of it meaning I had to reload.

Thankfully the internet exist so I could skip out on some of the trial and error. I do consider the kotor series worth the hassle I had.

Weird, I don't remember having any crash problems with KotOR or the BG games. Now Sith Lords and ANYTHING from Troika, which is a pity since Arcanum was a cool concept. First steampunk I'd ever seen.

For my part, Bioware games have always been pretty stable.

For DAI, I've had a few times the game kicked me out to the start screen. One save got corrupted, and I think that was when it locked up. So, maybe I'm just lucky :)

...

With the older games aside, I seem to be lucky when it comes to most games since I only have about one to three bugs and those tend to be relatively harmless. The only unfortunate bug was in Dragon Age: Inquisition where Dorian's personal quest did not trigger properly but that was thankfully solved and I simply ended up playing his personal quest late in the game rather than earlier.

I say most games because I had my share of unfortunate cases: Fallout 3 I love but it handles like a broken arm by constantly crashing on me within anything from within seconds to within hours. It may be that the Game of the Year edition is especially bad when it comes to that but I recall the game version I borrowed my local library being much the same. The crash unfortunately often requires me to restart my computer because it freezes. I love the Sims 3 as well but sometimes it seems the game was programmed to punch itself in the face.

Was this the one when you enter the Gull and Lantern and it's empty but the cut scene won't trigger?

I got that one (I was listing the real game breaker crashy stuff). Usually I'd just exit and re-enter or pull up the save.

I played FO3 on xbox. I don't remember many problems but I'm vague on the game in general.

Glitchiest pc games I ever played: Temple of Elemental Evil, and Pool of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor.

Nothing related to Dorian's personal quest triggered, not even the letter. I knew a work-around that fixed it but that would have required me to give up on hours of playthrough and reload from near the end of the game to near the end of Haven so I was very happy that they were able to solve the bug.

Oh, I did encounter a quest-breaking bug in Star Wars: The Old Republic where a Mandalorian couple are co-bosses in a flashpoint but keep resetting themselves regardless of how early or late into the boss battle it is. It did make me very aware of how much those two seem to need some couple's counseling. I mean, sheesh, that seemed to go a little beyond playful banter but that may be because of the tone.

I've had few issues, however, otherwise with SWTOR.

Actually, I find Gamlen gets better as the game goes on.  Especially when Charade enters the picture.

Liked because of the mention of Sims 3. Even now, on my new gaming rig, playing that can be like pulling teeth.

Install the easy levelling mod. I have it set on slow levelling because reasons, for some reason this mod fixes the banter. People say that level progression triggers banter, but I have this set on the slowest progression and my banter fires like it should.

As long as we're talking about Bio bugs, anyone remember the game-breaker at the end of NWN chapter 2, where the only door off of the tower wouldn't unlock?

EA Games is not trying to destroy a profitable venture through inserting bugs. They are not the Weyland-Yutani of the games industry.

I wonder what oversight EA even has over Bioware creative/technical decisions. I mean, Bioware gets the ideas and conceives of the projects, goes to EA to get funding and set a deadline, then how much does EA even stay involved other than to make sure game development completion progress is being met? EA's acquisition of Bioware wasn't exactly bringing on-board its heavy-hitter financially, so it's not like they can reasonably have that expectation set high. They count on their sports simulators- or other simulators- for that. Was it EA that insisted on the deadline that made the ME3 and DA2 rush jobs? If so, they seemed to have relented on that with DAI, so that Bioware was given a lot of rope to, well, do with as it may. It will be curious to hear what people say about the new ME game and what approach Bioware took with it after the ME3 debacle. In any case we'll probably never know exactly what influence EA execs have over Bioware content and creative direction, but if DA4 looks like a Thedas Simulator, then maybe complaints will be warranted.
