I just started playing dragon age inquisition multiplayer and reached level 18 for my duelist.
I tried assign skill attributes for the skill tree. My damage only deals two digit values and always end up dying after a hit or two from the enemy. I took like a minute to kill off a minion because the damage was so low.

I don't understand what am I missing besides leveling up my character. A level 1~5 character ends up performing better than me.

Looks like some kind of joke. Every zone i entered ends up dead.

Secondly, you probably would have low level items which are incredibly underwhelming.

 

Finally, there is a promotion system where if you promote a maxed level character and return it to lv1 will give you an extra stat (constitution/cunning/willpower). This means you can keep increasing your health/attack/critical chance to infinity plus 80% damage resistance to everything. However, this will take you hundreds of hours to achieve.
