Do you prefer if they have a new protagonist every game or should they follow the same protagonist for another trilogy? Trilogy protagonist would allow you to invest more into the character but a different protagonist allow a grander world where there are different people saving the world as opposed to just one. Better yet, they could meet up somewhere, it's something DAI could have incorporate better. Same protagonist also removes the headache of explaining why their characters weren't there to save the day or constantly asking for where their warden is or where their Hawke is even before the game releases.

Tough to say without knowing if I like this protagonist or knowing how his story ends in Andromeda.

All other things being equal I'd rather stick with the same protagonist and mostly the same supporting cast. But if Andromeda ends with the PC being killed, crippled or promoted to a rank where he's unlikely to be on the front lines, I'd rather a new one for Andromeda 2 than some contrived excuse to get the old one brought back to life, miracle cured, or demoted.

Keep the same PC throughout the Trilogy. I feel far more invested in Shepard than I do any of DA's PCs because I've spent more time with him, the romances feel deeper because you can continue them, I actually wouldn't have minded romancing Cullen as my female mage Warden in DAI. And my MShepard's romance with Kaidan would always top my romances with Fenris and Dorian due to the years it took for them to get together.

The cameos mean more, and I enjoy the friendships more.  Garrus isn't my favorite character but I get what they were trying to do with him in ME2 & 3 and I doubt the ending goodbyes would be as touching if it was done with a bunch of squad mates you just met.

DA's cameos are always an awkward regurgitation of the past plot. Because you're always meeting that character for the first time and at worse they just become an exposition dump for all the stuff you already know. The IQ having to ask Morrigan about her private love life just to get news on the Warden was just....ick.  So yeah, I hope they don't make the same mistake as the DA series.

I don't want anyone saving the world. Enough with that.

I'd rather we have the same protagonist for another trilogy, just like I think DA should have a different protagonist every game. Each series should stick with what makes them distinct. The way I see it, the appeal of ME was never so much about the setting but about the relationships and history you built up throughout several games.

I just hope they tie the games together better this time.

Personally, I'm all for ditching the protagonist across games. ME3's import system really didn't do it for me. Now, hypothetically, if Bioware could learn to implement an import system with smaller scale story decisions, planned right from the start, I could be open to it. But it would have to be radically different from what we saw with the ME3 trilogy.

I'd prefer to stick with a single protagonist rather than have the protagonist killed off at the end of each game or wonder why they're setting out of current events. That or worse yet find out our protagonist has gone off the deep end and now the new protagonist has to kill her/him. I also tend to enjoy building up a character over time. It's one of the things that keeps me playing Diablo 3 and trying to finish this set or that set. Retaining our levels and abilities from Mass Effect 2 to 3 was a huge plus for me. Hopefully this time around character progression will be planned out for the trilogy.

I still want a trilogy with the same Protagonist. Being able to carry over Shepard and his/her choices, was the bread and butter of Mass Effect. If you take that out, you're taking out a defining element of what makes this franchise what it is. It will no longer make it special and unique apart from the other Rpgs out there.

I agree I'd rather in story terms stick to the same formula that helped get ME to where it is now. Granted there are areas that need improving which hopefully will be.  Also they need they need to be wary that they don't make the same mistakes that led to ME3's ending being weak. I never had any problem with the ending personally but it has been tiresome at times seeing all the negative comments about it. Because aside from that I find ME3 a pretty solid package. I agreed the ending was weak but it never bothered me enough that I had to complain too much about it especially after the Extended cut.

I'd much prefer a new protagonist, and a new cast, each game.

If they manage to get me invested in the Andromeda setting, I might prefer this too. Otherwise I don't really see much of a point.

Standalone installments with one off protagonists. I like to experience the MEU from different perspectives.

Pretty much.  Killing off the Warden turned out to be such a bad move for the DA team to the point where they tried to implement a central PC for the rest of the series only for the fan backlash to force them to abandon the idea.  As a result the DA series feels thrown together more by fan whims than a consistent tale.

You have Dragon Age for that, and even then you've got a portion of the fanbase who still wish they can play as the Warden again.

Depends.  Are they planning it as a trilogy from day one with MEA2 and 3 already conceptualized story wise and how they wil tall tie together.  Or are they mkaing it up as they go like ME1-3.

Who am I kidding I want a trilogy either way..

I could go one way or the other. I enjoy the formulas of both franchises. IF they do have our "Pathfinder" character as a carry-over across multiple games, I sure hope that they handle it better than ME2 did.

I like the trilogy protagonist. With Shepard the call backs were more plentiful and more fun. I enjoy the multiple heroes in dragonage but there is a special bond with having Shepard and having everyone in universe react to Shepard and what they've done. A three game protagonist can allow for the kind of antics we got in Citadel. I'd enjoy another trilogy as long as its well written.

And? I think Dragon Age is stronger for it- I don't want Mass Effect to be a worse game just for the sake of being different.

I want to play as the same protagonist. I love how I play as Shepard, carrying over the character story, character interactions, building romances over time, etc. I want to do this again.

IMO, KotOR II would've been a better game if we got to play as Revan again, and the Jedi Exile was a member of the crew. That and if Obsidion were able to finish the game and not have it released in the state that it was.

Pros and cons to both. Overall, I would prefer a new protagonist each game.

Having Shepard for all three games made the Garrus romance that much more meaningful (and the best they have written, imo), though.

Would it be too much work to ask them to provide both options? In the follow up game, you can either import your previous character or create an entirely different character.

Example: In ME2, you could import Shepard from ME1 or create a new character named Gagarin.

Yeah, probably too much work to do something like that.

It's been mentioned as a counter point above, so I will also say that I do not play Dragon Age (although origins was tolerable for me). I absolutely hate medieval-themed games, and there is far too many. I watched it on youtube though. That was fun. May do again tonight.

Garrus had a great romance, but you only get great, continuous and well done romances if you just so happen to be romancing popular characters. In the core game for ME3 Miranda (really?? Cerberus...), Jack (the most beautiful women in ME imo), Jacob (), and Thane (yeah I know he dies, but still, barely anything when he is alive) didn't get much at all.
