Is the spear chucker Qunari the most over the top opponent in this game?

Lots of dicey opponents, lots of dicey player abilities but the blocking action of spear chuckers is perhaps the most lame ability if you ask me,  No shield, a spear and a dagger or short sword.  Had a game with an archer, and two magic users using staff and spells and one chucker must have blocked 100 attacks in a row just by doing the old, 'I'll block with by twriling my spear!'

Ridonkulous.

EA Overlord gets my vote. He hits quite hard which is fine, but he also runs away so much. So. Freakin'. Much. 75% of rampage time is wasted chasing after that tool.

I was just thinking this last night! The way he blocks projectiles is really silly.

I'd say spear-man is second only to Saarebas (because he dot's players who die near him way too often for no reason).

That evasion ability can be dispelled (unless its something else being dispelled). Power Chord OP.

The Qun are all Rebels and the Agents are all Stormtroopers. So now we all know what it feels like to be TK-421.

Bioware confiscated the enchanted ever-blocking swords from the Red TramplerTM and Venatori swordsmen.  They started to pile up, so they stored them all in the broom-closet at the end of the hall.  When they got a new intern, they needed to clear out that valuable "office space", so they melted them all down and re-forged them as Qunari spears.

No they didn't. Just because you don't see the 'blocked' message anymore, doesn't mean they aren't blocking your attacks. That's toddler logic. ;)

They are very over-the-top for a generic mook equivalent:

They already have more health than Venatori/Red Templar Archer equivalents.

Then they can block ranged attacks practically indefinitely.

And have AoE knockdown melee attacks.

And apply Sunder.

And do bonus damage to Guard.

And are immune to Fear and Sleep.

Defo one of the most annoying enemies as they can block so many bloody attacks that the only real time you can hit them is when they're attacking you, or if you can get behind them, also, minor point, but I recently discovered that they can actually block power chord as well, joy.

I really find the sarebas to be the most annoying, especially whne you play NM and there's 2 or 3 of them together...

Then Bolters, especially in groups of 4 or 5 in FC, dispersed all over the map, but aiming at the same player, damn they're annoying...

Curse the Saarebas

Confuse grenade a bolter and watch the carnage

Yeah that's actually a pretty good idea and I have over 200 of those, I'm gonna try, btw when a bolter shoots an other bolter does it knock down the other?

guess I'm gonna find that out

but still the problem isn't when they're in tight groups, it's when they're dispersed all over FC.

one more thing does the sarebas have an attack that's similar to the lady wrath ability of ther avvar?

cause last time I played on NM i Got killed by a series of lightning damage attacks over time, which kept dealing damage even after the saarebas was dead.

And since we're at it the qunari shiled warriors exploding after death is also very annoying

You know they can't block explosive shot?

Or an auto-attack from a two-handed warrior.

shift key + basic attack spam on katari is great way to wipe the map of annoying spearmen and sarabas, just beware of the pink slosh she chucks on the floor all around her because no matter how much killing you do you die to the invisible tick.... of course the fact they totally ignore any defense on your toon and hit like your in paper armour doesn't help things at all either, bioware broke something when they added the two new faction into the game, instead of utilising existing defence mechanics they adjusted the values to make them harder and now more games wipe than succeed against them even on the easier difficulties, its one of the main reasons why faction selector should have been added, I romp through peri against the original factions but often find ds/Qun a problem, on nightmare I can hold my own against the original 3 factions but against ds/Qun I get obliterated every time /

the quanri defenders are stupid because theres so many of them and they block everything unless you hit them from behind and even then they lie on the floor dead for 5 minutes waiting for someone to come close enough to kill with the detonation ......

which makes them a chore to play against, most of the time if i'm solo I will just quit the game as soon as I see its them rather than struggle against them and get annoyed at their cheapeness, bioware clearly didn't learn anything from adding the collector faction to me3mp after release and should have coded them in from the start....

People seem hard to please. If we could surf through all factions, the game would be boring. When we cant, someone at BW lost it.
It is annoying wiping out against bolters in a pug because two people playing paperdolls, decide to charge them, but being put out of your comfortzone makes you wiser?
Usually the right group setup can deal with anything, so maybe the finger should be pointing at the four people and character selection, instead of the developers?
Just food for thought anyway

While BIOWARE did **** up on this game due to lack of resources, I agree with you. I get times when my group wipes, we get back adjust and go back at it if that happens. It doesn't happen often. Once you get into the flow of things each map and enemy combination will be run like a well oiled machine. Sometimes it is quite beautiful to see. But wipes aren't, not by any means, a direct result of the low funding Bioware got for this game.

Yes I do, cool down wait, one explosive shot damages them, cool down, then your next explosive shot can kill them.

There is nothing wrong at all with the bolter assassin levels, very tough but fair.  There is nothing wrong with very tough opponents.  These guys are semi mooks if you have the wrong group make up vs them they can take a long time to kill with an action that is flat out lame, just as lame as the AW blocking projectiles with his fade sword.  Dudes with shields?  Well I don't like incessant blocks but at least that makes some sense.  A guy blocking three people attacking him from different angles with a twirling spear?  Poo poo.

I actually thought the twirling spear blocking arrows is more realistic than the jedi soldier.    If you tell me that a archer is going to shoot at me with his bow and arrow at 200 feet.  I could either use the spear or sword to defend myself, I would pick the spear and twirl it! :P    It probably won't work, but I think it has a better chance than the sword. :P

I thought the shield guy was worst.  Slam down, slam down, slam down....   I can't even roll away or use any other abilities.   I don't have that problem in Threatening.  I think the shield guys got extra abilities in Perilous...or maybe I just kill them slower?
