Title kind of says it.  But in my last pug I was about to get sync killed on two separate occasions both of which got interrupted, the person who interrupted it got sync killed in font of me and I could not stop it at least not in time.

I know a biotic charge will.

Missile

I assume a biotic/tech explosion.

I heard a charged shot from some guns does and you can release it while you yourself is getting sync killed?

What else?

I'd like to be a better teammate instead of staring uselessly while someone gets stomped.

I couldn't find this in resources.

I'd also like to know what interrupts it that you all of a sudden end up back on your legs again after a sync-kill.

You have to trigger a stagger in the enemy.
e.g. for a banshee on gold you must do 7000 damage in like 5 seconds or less. I know it's 7000 damage, not sure what the time limit is. Or cause a stagger through force but lots of boss units have a really high stagger resistance.

Oh and the game code crapping out works too.

Standing in a place where they cannot play the animation also does the trick quite nicely.

BC over 1000N does the trick, but not if the stagger immunity is on. How long the CD for staggering a boss ?

BTW, i m pretty sure a 1000 N shockwave will not do the trick, or am i wrong ?

The force has to be 1500 for most bosses. If you want to interrupt a sync-kill you pop a thermal pack and whoop ass with a stronk weapon.

There is a trick you can do where you can hit the Ops pack button just as a phantom's sword is about to hit your character's belly button, where you'll immediately get right back up.

But to answer your question, its all about damage.  I don't know the exact number though.  One of these nerds can tell you. : )

You have to trigger a stagger. It's not solely damage, or force that does the trick. But either or will do.

Insofar as I know three things can cause a stagger depending on the enemy that syncing.

 - Enough Damage is the typically the easiest, just pop a clip pack or two and go to town.

 - Enough Force, Multi-frag carpet-bomb the area if you're a Destroyer, for instance. Any Tech Burst/Biotic Boom should do the trick.

 - Hit a weak zone. Ex: Atlas Shoulder/Thigh Armor Plate, Scion Humpyhump, Praetorian Nutballsack. This one is bloody hard when they're moving though, and is usually just a byproduct of the above two.

Since we can't count in numbers how much damage we are doing in-game, I'd say a good rule of thumb is the following.

Banshee - Drop her barriers. You don't actually have to stagger a Banshee to make her drop someone (though that works too). You simply need to knock her out of sync kill mode and into warp ball mode. Most of the time this happens the first time her barriers drop.

Praetorian - Stagger it. This can happen with enough force, but again as a general rule it will usually happen if you drop it's barriers.

Scion - Stagger it. It doesn't have an easy to read marker like dropping it's barriers, but it also has a slow sync kill and if more than one teammate is paying attention they should be a able to kill it before it completes the sync kill.

Atlas - Stagger it. You have to be fast though because it has a fast sync kill. It has a slow sync kill trigger with it's melee, so it's easier to see it coming than a lot of other sync kills as long as you're paying attention. It's a pretty fast sync kill so it's possible that an ops pack might save you if you time it right.

Brutes and Phantoms - These syncs kills are almost impossible to interrupt because they are so fast. I know a brute can be staggered out of it if you're quick enough, but you have to be REALLY quick as the sync kill is faster than most casting animations. I don't know if phantoms can be staggered out of it but I don't recall ever seeing it happen. The best way to avoid these two sync kills are to learn their triggers and avoid putting yourself in situations where it can happen. If you find yourself in such a position (phantom sneaks up behind you and staggers you with her sword) then you can try to pop an ops pack which will allow you to survive the sync kill due to the ops pack's temporary invulnerability. Ops packs don't work on Scions, Praetorians, or Banshees because their sync kill animations are longer than the ops pack invulnerability.

Edit: Since Phantoms are the only unarmored sync killers you can also interrupt it with a CC power that affects phantoms, like Stasis (or lash with proper evolution). Again though, you have to be really fast.

There are so many great answers for this question.....I know we all have a ton of stories of being on both ends of interrupting a sync kill

The ones that, for me are really rare for me to either interrupt or get myself stopped from happening are Brutes & Scions..they happen so fast...Scions signs for telling a sync is coming are really in-consistent...I know the swinging of the arms..But I have had them sync me when they didnt even move..at all...I have never been able to interrupt a Scion from sync killing someone ...Brutes are easier to tell when you are going against them..the red eyes.. MyFemShep once got the touchdown spike in the London mission in the SP...I have never been able to interrupt a Brute sync either......When I have seen someone else get syncd by a Brute, it was when I turned around and would just see it happen...I also can't stop myself from laughing when I do see it happen to someone else....specially if it's a Drell.

I've had one time with my acolyte charged up and a phantom sync kills me.  The acolyte charge bounces off the wall and back to the phantom causing the phantom to interrupt the animation and flip to dodge the sync kill.  Luck, I'd say.

Also, if you get downed as the animation is playing, you'll go down from the sync kill, but you can at least gel yourself out.

If there's a lack of physical space when the sync kill animation happens, the animation is interrupted and the sync kill stops.  Happened to banshees quite a few times for me.

Banshee - Drop her barriers. You don't actually have to stagger a Banshee to make her drop someone (though that works too). You simply need to knock her out of sync kill mode and into warp ball mode. Most of the time this happens the first time her barriers drop.

Yeah, this does work.  You can stagger a Banshee out of a sync-kill with a crapton of damage or a crapton of force, but knocking a Banshee into warp ball mode will do it too (and it's often the easiest way).

I Lashed a Phantom out of sync-killing a Destroyer who was trying to deliver a pizza with Devastator Mode on in my last match.  Come to think of it, I probably should have just let the Phantom sync him and delivered the package myself.  Would have been faster.

So buckets of damage and or stagger effects.  Okay.  With most my guns in the level 1-4 range the damage side might be hard.  Making sure to use high stagger powers is probably my best bet outside a missle.

Thanks for all the answers.

There's an odd one for the Praetorian. I've been grabbed a few times and died but I was able to medigel. I think it's because one of the Collector infantry killed me before the sync kill could complete but am not certain.

I have seen a friend interrupt his own sync kill when he was soloing a wave, he was a justicar and as the sync kill started, reave killed the banshee and saved himself. I don't think I would rely on this as a reliable method of getting yourself out of a sync kill though :/

Phantom: 1000+N of force, Yoink (Lash/Pull)

Atlas/Brute: Missile.

Situational awareness is the key. Try to watch your own back and the one of your pugs.

On a good day I have my missile launcher ready right before the teammate gets lifted or stomped.

On a bad day the fückin crab behind me eats my head.
