What interupts a sync kill?

So buckets of damage and or stagger effects.  Okay.  With most my guns in the level 1-4 range the damage side might be hard.  Making sure to use high stagger powers is probably my best bet outside a missle.

Thanks for all the answers.

Don't count on the stagger effects - it will only work once and then they will be immune for some time against force stagger. High damage in a short time is more reliable.

I'm wondering how the tons of damage works with DoTs.

I'm fairly sure I've blasted an enemy with a Claymore, have them go into the kill sync animation start, then break it off when using incendiary ammo.  Sometimes this has been because other team mates are blasting away at the thing, of course, but sometimes, I'm fairly sure I'm the only one who has hit it, yet this occurs.

It could be off-host magic, but has anyone else noticed this happening while on host?  I'm wondering if the damage is close to the interrupt threshold and then the DoTs take it over that and trigger it, even though that damage isn't in and of itself significant.

Stagger or death.

Sufficient force or damage to cause a stagger. Every enemy has a different threshold. Some enemies also have a stagger resistance period after they've been staggered initially.

Quick sync kills can be negated with an OPs Pack timed perfectly as well. IE Phantoms, Brute Slams.

Large damage or large force (or a combination of the two) will prevent the synch kill once the enemy is already in the animation.

Different enemy units have different thresholds.

2 aspirin with a shot of Jack Daniels will interupt a sync kill every time.   And if it doesn't, who cares?

I know. But I'm all out of aspirins. Sync kills everywhere...

It could be worse - you could be out of Jack Daniels

Just to mention a few of my all-time favorite interrupts of teammates getting shanked....

Lashing a Phantom after she slashed someone....Heavy meleeing a phantom on the LZ of Jade as she was about to execute an Asari..sending her flying off of the map...

On Rio..we were doing a center hack on wave 10 Collectors...a Praetorian...( if you are facing the LZ ) made its way to the right path into our circle...A drell got picked up..Me, as a Krogan Soldier..I did the Fortification purge to charge the gauntlets..then heavy melee'd the praetorian forcing it to drop that Drell.....knocking the g-damned praetorian off of the map.

One match..as a QFI w a Valiant... Reapers / Glacier.. I managed to save a really stupid KroLord from getting Banshee syncd 7 times in one match..by head shotting her...7 TIMES... I got not one single Thank You after......He was using a mic and thought the game was glitched as to not allow sync kills...( THIS IS ON XBOX )

That's one of those moments when you wish you were recording. (Or capable of recording, and recording >.< )

I've had a few of those, that sounds fun. :D

There's an odd one for the Praetorian. I've been grabbed a few times and died but I was able to medigel. I think it's because one of the Collector infantry killed me before the sync kill could complete but am not certain.

Getting snuffed by something else before the finishing touch.

I too have been "saved" from synch kills many times by mooks taking me out while a synch is in progress (or maybe just before) - usually Banshee or Praetorian.

Aside from that, I've found explosive (lift/cluster/frag as opposed to sticky/incedniary) grenades always seem to interrupt Banshees, but maybe I've just been lucky enough to hit them when their barriers are almost down.

Fun fact: I never knew about banshee synch kill for the entirety of my first ME3 SP playthrough and was never once synched by anything, but once I read about it on the ME3 Wikia page it seemed to happen all of the time. Kind of like the Road Runner not understanding gravity.

What's awesome is when the Volus standing next to your "about-to-be-eaten head" shieldboosts you through the Collector Capt's burst that would've killed you mid-bite. So instead of medi-gelling into a miraculous missile launcher end to the wave, the next 20 minutes are spent watching the volus realize he cannot win because he keeps running so far away from the Praetorian that it regens it's shields infinitely. Not unlike the cowardly volus runner marathon.

Happened to a friend of a friend of. Wait, no. It happened to me. Like, less then a week ago.

Good times.

And yet I still can't really tell if that volus was the most epic troll ever or the worst sort of pug.

Funny how that works.

As it has been stated before in this thread: deal enough damage, use staggering abilities, use Ops Packs, or hope the mooks kill you before the animation is complete.

I've saved people and been saved with the above methods, though the Brute and Phantom sync-kills are usually too fast to interrupt.  Really, imo, the ones you really have to worry about are the Praetorians, Banshees, and Phantoms because they will actively try to grab you while using ranged attacks to keep you on the defensive.  Atlases and Scions stick to ranged combat and move slowly so they're not much of an issue if you pay enough attention to them to know where they are and the Brutes have no ranged attacks whatsoever, so they can be easily dispatched at range.

Just remember that Banshees, Scions, and Atlases can't grab you when they're shooting, only after they use a melee attack.  Praetorians can only grab you after a melee attack as well, but their attacks are very quick and hard to avoid when in melee range.  Banshees can only grab when teleporting (they have a blue hue around them and their barrier regens quickly while teleporting, based on what I've seen) and Brutes can only grab when their eyes glow red.  The Brutes' prime is only a few seconds and they make a swing at you, though it's not very consistent with whether or not they'll actually grab you (been hit by that swing multiple times and I've only been grabbed by it once or twice at most).

Being on a slope can also prevent you from being grabbed, regardless of whether or not the enemy you're fighting is primed for a synch-kill, though being further up the slope is safer than the reverse.

Hope this helps.   :)

Привет. So just how far can a banshee grab then? Of course with rubberbanding / pugging with a redditor hosting at the airport lounge, this can be 15m away. Is her arms length a good indicator?

I think all of the answers have been given. When I play with a team I know, we all know that if someone gets picked up, we all shoot at that sync kill unit to disrupt its animation. There are various reasons, a lot of damage to the character right before they finish their animation, triggering a stagger effect through that damage, the rare moments when you can hit an ops pack right before a Phantom stabs you will make you invincible for a moment long enough for it to not have effect (hard to do) and finally there was a code added by the mods that if you died right before or at the same time that a sync kill unit picked you up, it will give priority to the code indicating that it was a death and not a sync kill, thus propping you back on your feet giving you a free live.

My favorite way to prevent a sync-kill is to detonate a Possessed Abomination on my teammate before the sync-kill can be finished.  It's like you're a troll, but you're also a hero.  A Trero.

^^^^^^^ Is very true... One story from being on the other end of that/...  A number of times..while I was getting syncd by a banshee..I actually thanked the ravager that killed me before she could finish her animation..same thing with a praetorian...a Scion would kill me before I got ate..those are the thank god moments.

To be honest, I have no idea how I survive a sync sometimes.

But I sacrifice a goat every time that I escape one.

The goat population of Ireland is now dangerously low.

If you're within melee range of her, then you're close enough to be grabbed.  Just remember that if a Banshee teleports near/next to you, get some distance from it as soon as possible.

Have you tried sitting down and talking about your issues and insecurities with the other party?

I'm sure it's just a misunderstanding and both of you can learn to get along.

^^^ thank you, I didn't know this.

It explains a lot. Those numerous times when being synced and popping back up again.
Some part of me however would still like to believe in space magic though :)
