MESSAGE POPULAIRE !

I know this won't be a universally popular opinion, (and, believe me, I'm quite surprised to be writing this myself) but, following the events of Trespasser, and that beautifully melancholic final conversation between the inquisitor and Solas, I'm now eager to play as the inquisitor again in Dragon Age 4

The fact that Solas is capable of killing the inquisitor but chooses to save her instead, despite knowing that she'll do everything within her power to stop him, really hit me emotionally. That moment illustrated just how much Solas respects the inquisitor (at least in my game), and it set the stage for the best kind of rivalry: one between friends on irreconcilably diverging paths, with a tragic and, no doubt, tearful conclusion. lol

Introduce a new protagonist to track down Solas and all of that beautiful subtext is lost. Solas becomes just another Big Bad who our disconnected hero has to put down in order to prevent the apocalypse.

P.S. I also think that the inquisitor will be a much more relatable hero now that he or she isn't a "special snowflake". There's no more magic mark, no more grand, holy crusade. The "inquisitor" -- depending on the ending you choose -- is now much more like Hawke: a seasoned fighter and leader working alongside a relatively small group of trusted allies and contacts.

P.P.S. Yes, I know the Quizzy lost a hand, but -- in the increasingly insane magical melting pot that is Thedas -- I'm sure there's a way to remedy that minor inconvenience. If magic can heal serious wounds like deep sword gouges to vital organs, and bring people back from the brink of death, then there's probably a mage or two out there with a knack for regrowing limbs.

Surely anything Hogwarts can do, Tevinter can, too. lol

I also want the inquisitor as the (sole)protagonist of DA4 except I don't want their arm regrown or remade as good as new.

I'd also be fine with the inquisitor keeping that handicap (from a "special snowflake" to a true underdog in one fell swoop), but I can't see BioWare accommodating for it in the combat system. That's why I suggested magic as a cure-all.

Not the arm part. Regrowing arms is weird.

I wouldn't mind playing as the Inquisitor again. New companions though

As for the arm, I would rather have him get a lyrium-infused metal arm that shoots lyrium beams Iron Man style

Would also like to play as the inquisitor again, and arm not  regrown but modified based on class.

Like a  warrior would stick a blade on it somehow,  a mage some kind of  like fade hand or something.

Yes, prosthetics open up so many possibilities for gameplay! Whether they be different weapon-style attachments or simply a prosthetic hand, I could see a tree dedicated to this like the Anchor's tree in DA:I. I hope they do this, because it would be awesome.

Anyway, OP and anyone else interested in this topic, I'd recommend reading this thread:

Yes on board for the inqusitor for DA4 all the way. I'm kinda over new heroes cleaning old heroes messes, and story wise bringing a new pc, for me just isn't right after trespasser.

It's not outside the realm of possibility. If a mage can make spirit blades, they may be able to make a spirit hand. And Red Templar Shadows already show that you could have a blade on the end of your arm. Or a shield.

Edit: And of course the crossbow arm that Bioware already thought of, and the fact that The Iron Bull was originally going to have a prosthetic arm. So it's clear they didn't think it was ridiculous.

Ha.

Mage: "I can fashion you a new arm out of silverite. It'll be far stronger than your old arm."

Quizzy: "Wonderful. But will it be able to shoot lyrium death rays?"

Mage: "Well ... it wasn't really designed to--"

Quizzy: "--because I've grown terribly accustomed to feeling like a god. Death rays really are a must. The greener the better."

Mage: "I believe, with effort, I can furnish you with moderately powerful death rays. But they'll be blue."

Quizzy: "Hmm. Close enough. Maybe Dagna will be able to tint the colour of my death rays to make them green."

Dagna: "Dagna doesn't work for you anymore. You're broke now, remember? And my salary is insanely high."

Quizzy: "I am not broke. I have ten gold pieces. That would have bought me a country estate and a private army fifteen years ago in Ferelden."

Dagna: "Yup. But today it wouldn't buy you a schematic for a rusty back scratcher. Inflation's a son-of-a-nug, huh?"

(Sorry. Got a little carried away. lol)

I liked to believe it could happen , but it's Dragon Age .

Don't get me wrong I really really like DA but the way they treat ancient protagonist is really not part of that.

Since DAO I've been living some kind of ongoing nightmare when I just kept on cringing again and again.

I was done with the warden , she survived the Archdemon fight , so she cheated death one time , I'm cool with that. But now she keeps appearing in codex and stuff and I've been told she wants to cheat death again. Please , for the love of the Maker , let the warden DIE!

I really don't need her to become the very special snowflake warden off screen , that ONE warden who just won't bloody die and doesn't do anything interesting except NOT DYING.

Then there is Hawke , I was ready for Hawke to return after DA2 .For reasons it didn't turned out as planned .(DA2 not being a sucess expension canceled etc...).

Fine .It sucked but what can you do?Again I was ready to let go.

Instead the DA dev decided "hey let's turn Hawke into a npc!"

I have no idea who this person ranting about blood magic or the wardens was but I let her rot in the fade with a sigh of relief.

And now Trespassers, the DA devs keeps on saying" we want a new protag each game , it's the story of the world , blablabla".

So again I was ready to let go .

And then of course they had to do it , they put a sequel bait involving the Inquisitor....

I just want to let my pc go , retire , bye , it was great we had fun .

I don't want them to go west on some crappy quests , or appear as Npcs , and you know what I don't want either my hero facing the future villain saying" I will stop you" ...wait 4 years and have my hero reappear as a npc rants about ancient elves and the veil and then leave because he has some crappy quest to do somewhere .

Would it have been so hard to show Solas curing the Inquisitor and then not reveal his terrible plan to destroy the world , then showing the Inquisitor retiring , and a sequel bait when Solas tells his plans to random minions while showing he is going to move to Tevinter?

I would love to have the inquisitor back!! And not as a cameo. I want to play my inquisitor in Da4. Especially now that their arm is gone!! That totally sets up the game to be amazingly awesome!!! I don't understand why people always use that as an excuse not to play quizy. Makes no sense... how could they not be like, OMG THAT'S GONNA BE SO AWESOME!!! ? I mean, imagine the customization options! Wouldn't it be cool to not only be able to customize the abilities to an extent but also its appearance?

Also its an excuse to go back towards level 1, which people are concerned about with recurring characters. Although that reasoning also has me confused since you'd be doing the same thing as a new character...

I vote yes! Bring back inquisitor!!

I'm ambivalent about this. On one hand, I do feel that after Trespasser the Inquisitor is so personally invested in the battle with Solas that it would make sense for him/her to be the one to pursue him and resolve the story. But at the same time, the Inquisitor is (to me) by far the least interesting of Bioware's protagonists, and I don't really feel much attachment to him/her or have much desire to see them again, save the fact that he/she has skin in the game against Solas. Personally, I'd prefer a new protagonist with a Hawke style cameo from the Inquisitor to tie things together.

I can understand how the inquisitor was bland to a lot of people. They started out that way for me as well, of course, after trespasser I saw A LOT of potential for their character growth. Also I do believe there should be a compromise of sorts, but one that can make everyone happy. The fact is a lot of us will be really disappointed if we can't play as inquisitor. Even if they did the cameo well, I would hate seeing my inquisitor as a regular NPC. It would almost feel like that isn't the inquisitor just a random character calling themselves inquisitor and taking credit for what quizy did.

Plus, in order for bioware to really make anyone feel like the choice they made (to disband or keep inquisition) had any real affect they need to bring the inquisitor back as a character you can control. Because not everyone decided to retire and say, 'my adventuring days are over.' Mine sure didn't.

Besides that, while I'm all for new companions, I'm still interested in all the companions from DaI. I want to see their progression as well. One game just seems so limiting and I feel like there's more to see.

Yes. Look at the description:

You recreate your own fist from the essence of the Fade and smash nearby foes to the ground.

You recreate your own fist from the essence of the Fade

You recreate your own fist

Your fist, your hand? What's the difference ;)

Wouldn't it be cool to not only be able to customize the abilities to an extent but also its appearance?

I also think it would be sweet if it either had a name, so people could call it that (like Bianca or Mjolnir), or if you could at least name it yourself with text. No one would say it outloud in that case, but the tree for its abilities would have that name, like the Bianca tree! Sorry, this just excites me

I see both ways: the Inquisitor being protagonist and the Inquisitor just showing up at the end to resolve everything, which would be the only way to keep Quizzie in Solas' story now if Solas is the main antagonist, or able to be confronted, in a da4. Out of those options I'd prefer Inky being protagonist again. Of course, neither is likely to happen and my worst dread will happen where an entirely different protagonist resolves the entire Solas thing when he/she has no connection to the character at all which is a punch in the face to poor Inky whether Inky wants to kill him or save him, since he was their companion.. possibly friend, possibly couldn't care less about, and possibly lover.

No. I'm done with constanstly wining. I need a Hawke to balance it out you see. Because you know, Hawke always seems to be on the losing end.

Why not a fall from grace story? I don't want to constantly win(DA:I) any more than I want to constantly lose (ME3/DA2). Balance.

Yeah, true. But Hawke lost too much, then they tried to balance it up with wining to much... Why don't they make a Warden again? It's balanced sort of.
