.

I'm a pc idiot, so I have to ask: Is it possible to have "Final Fantasy-hair" with the Frostbite Engine WITHOUT to mutch performance loss?

EDIT: I don't like the SWToR hair, sorry. Looks fake and ugly, for my PERSONAL taste. The haircuts in SWToR are great, but the hair ..... horrible.

I'm so happy that most of my characters are Twi'Leks. :P

It probably is and I agree Final  Fantasy hair is good even if the rest of the game is somewhat iffy. But I think moer options and maybe some hair physics atm is all we need really. I think we just don't want our hair looking more like a helmet any moer especially given most modern day graphics cards and the new consoles can handle hair movement. If people don't like it or don't have a particularly good modern graphics card in their PC then put an option in to turn it off. Tomb Raider has an on/off toggle for the TressFX so it should be easy enough to put it in this game as well.

to be fair this is a sci fi setting so imposing real world stuff dosen't need to necessarily happen lets not forget in the original trilogy both Miranda and Ashley have shoulder length hair. As long as there aer a couple of shoulder length options and maybe 1 or 2 ponytail style options for the player to select in the CC if the player should want it I think that should be fine without going over thew top.

Let's not forget that Miranda was never originally a combatant before the events of ME2, and that Ashley was basically a staff officer in the 6 months Sheppard was under house arrest (prior to ME3). Sheppard has always been a combat officer. It's likely our new PC will also be a combat officer of some kind.

Also, the problem isn't that people want 1 or 2 shoulder length or 1 or 2 ponytail style options. The problem is, there's enough people who apparently can't stand that Bioware didn't make hair options representative of stuff like the pics below:

Spoiler

Those pics are purposely meant to be rather flamboyantly beautiful. People want hair that's on the level of the ridiculous. "IT MUST BE BEAUTIFUL", they say. They don't want realistic though. Not at all. Nope, never.

Do you know where the short and ruffled hair is from; the one to the right at the top row? Because I've seen the others but I do not think I've seen that one before.

Star Wars: The Old Republic, I feel, do have some nice hair and a very good character creator considering the limitations of the sliders.

Its called Shaggy hair style. Currently 100c on cartel market. I like it since it has a lot of hair movement (like when she tilted her head, her hair move around her face) but its buggy and there's a reason why I kept her wearing that headgear and fortunately, my IA is a cyborg... so what if sometimes she have some bald spot....-_-

-----

SWTOR is an old game and even then I mostly play it around Low or Very Low just so it wouldn't lag. I suppose the textures did get better at Ultra-High but I never bother with it since its an online game. I don't care much about aesthetic, I'm just happy that each of them look unique from each other.

I understand why console gamers would feel frustrated and wanted better quality hair packaged into the game especially after Dragon Age Inquisition. I don't complain much on hair styles since I'm using PC, I could always mod the game and I already have an in-game hairstyle that I like (even though it exist in game, I still have to edit the save to get the hair).

As for realism, long-hair, short-hair, no-hair, they all add something to your character. I don't find it wrong for people to want more options for the character customization and I do get bored if I have to play the same or similar character all over again. I'm sure a lot there's a lot of variety of military haircut for men that isn't a variety bald or nearly-bald hair style. And I'm certain that a lot of military women do keep their hair but the amount of different lopsided buns is crazy.

well having that sort of stuff is unrealistic anyway and what I meant was although they probably wouldn't go as far as some of the Skyrim mods they may go for a happy meduim and give us a couple of shoulder length or ponytail options to play with. Also anyone that  was in Cerberus or Alliance had to be military trained and conform to their organisations rules to be in those posts so as far as I'm concerned on that my point stands, as both were military organizations

And stop restricting hair by gender.

That gave us 7 bald styles in DAI. Careful what you ask for.

I wouldn't mind at least one buzzed down do for women if we can make her look like Furiosa or something. The effect is not the same without the robo arm though.

Buzz cuts are fine. It's male pattern baldness for women that bug me :P

Yeah I agree same here. Whilst I've seen plenty of bald men I've not seen too many bald women to be fair. Women generally do have a full head of hair. So definitely in that regard it definitely needs correcting.

I think a few similar options are good. It only becomes an issue when those sorts of designs dominate the options provided.

I expect there were lots of bald or buzzcuts because they were easy to do. Scrapping them wouldn't necessarily allow more "good" hairstyles.

Wow! I didn't even know about the Skyforge CC! That is amazing! Hopefully the rumors are true and Bioware is looking into a new way of CC for ME!! That would be awesome!!

yeah I'm not vrey good at the game but it's quite fun but then I think that's more due to the fact I'm not great at MMO's or RPG's for that matter either really I can manage Bioware's as I think it's more about working as a team for the most part in their games as you have a squad with you most of the time backing you up. Which I find definitely helps me especially on the more challenging missions. So anything your character lacks you can rely on the rest of your team on.

lol yeah, in ME1 I relied on Wrex to clear the way and give me a clear shot lol Then in ME2 it was Grunt lol During the Citadel DLC, I was like OMG I'm alone and I'm gonna die lol So definitely know where you're coming from lol

I assume they will need middleware like AMD's TressFX or NVIDIA's HairWorks.

Yeah Wrex and Grunt are great at hte tanking role whenever you need someone to do it so is Vega in ME3 and yeah sometimes I struggle with the Arrival DLC mission too because of that. I can get through it though but it can be challenging at times which ironically is a mission I'm takinjg on now.

Perhaps but you would think that EA could get them access to that no problem plus also games from EA's other studio's have been using it as well as games from elsewhere like Tomb Raider. I think it would be good for Bioware to look at these things too plus they've made an encouraging start with DAI's armours given you can see them blow in the wind at least the long coat and buttflap armours do. Would be nice to see further improvements made in this system as well. I'd rather them start to use the tech and get it wrong a little bit and improve in later editions than not to try at all. Because the one big life lesson i've learned through being disabled is you won't know whether you can really do something unless you try it. In fact if anything you'll always believe you can't sometimes you have to be prepared to push yourself and just give it a go.

But standalone, adjustable sideburns for men are as necessity.

I'm so tired of having to put that scruffy beard on Sheppard so he doesn't end up sideburnless.

I'm not for long hair, both male and female.

The reason : The hemlet. You are supposed to put quickly a defensive gear in case of battle, shortrage of air pressure or imminent hazard. Impossible to do that with long hair. Nowadays, you can see astronautes and cosmonautes with long hairs but they are not often in EVA. In the ME world, the combat helmet is an high-tech gear with lot of HUD, solid structure and lot of comm gimmicks. Having long hair taking a lot of place will decrease the efficienty of that gear.

But, yeah, I'm for good-looking short hair. Even if I want an Leroy Jethro Gibbs run, why not an Anthony Dinozzo one?
