I've been playing the saarebas recently. How can I make it not so squishy? I have it at level 9 at the moment but it's annoying me because I can do highish damage and kill things fine. But 1 enemy takes a dislike to me and looks my way and I fall down dead. How can I improve survivability?

There's no right answer. I'd say it depends on your playstyle. If you play pure offense then you'll need to be carried somewhat. If you play offense + CC then you'll do pretty good until you get surrounded by enemies immune to CC. If you play pure defense (support) then you need to be carried.

My tip is to spec into Asaara's Leap for improved mobility as it will help you more than anything else in critical situations. Great against fast-moving targets, such as Brutes/Rage Demons/Terrors/Horrors/Shadows, etc...

What do you consider immune to CC? afaik only Saarebas, Giants, and the DC are completely immune-- all of which pretty rare. All others are CC'able. The immune can be isolated and eliminated seperately via single target DPS-- Bacon Barrage being the most obvious example.

There are defensive buffs / CC abilities around on the left tree, and some passives that grant immunity / CC on the right tree as well. Ultimately, you'll want to be very mobile and know what effective ranges your abilities are, and use cover as needed.

The Ring Flow / Barrier Finisher combo is also quite nice.

Are you using a pact belt?

Derp, Yes I was. I've just taken it off. I was using the Fire pact belt.

Most of Darkspawn once you run into Hurlock Alphas which make your CC useless against the whole group (until you take down the alpha which can take quite some time without promotions + super risky if you're fighting the whole group). Ben-Hassrath assassins will completely wreck you as well, unless you use Gaatlok's Blast opener for its Knockdown CC (which is why I take it). Most of the creatures have at least one immunity which can be problematic if you run into them while surrounded. Rage Demons do not get disabled from the Shatter effect. Brutes during Rampage. I think there might be more but I can't recall atm

But yeah, in those scenarios I'd just zip around the map and set up some Ice walls and kill high priority targets via ranged Gaatlok. As I said, you can still do pretty good, but if you're surrounded on wave 5 on DS perilous (or NM, depending on your promotes) it can be serious trouble

well that explains lol. Pact belt plus no barrier equals squishiness. Unless you are in a good team or have high stats i would advise against the belt on saarebas. Or you could wear amulet of accord hoping to avoid as much aggro as possible.

Having one immunity isn't an issue though, and as you said, zip around the map and range them to death. Gaatlok not required, as BB can do the trick.

I forget what the Hurlock can do. He's usually dead to CC or DPS sooo... remind me? I don't think there's an alpha version afaik. The Darkspawn Alphas, the big shield guys, are immune to most disabling effects, but they're extremely limited in range, and the above zip around and range method works fine on them.

Is it spell resistance or something?  I just remember moving my virtuoso around and killing everything with 1 or 2 hits of the power chord.  Then I came to the skinny hurlock guy... one, two, three, four.... no mana.. and he was still alive.   I was going WTF.  Double check to make sure I didn't left it on Fast Beat. :P

It might of been fast beat, I've never seen a darkspawn enemy that was immune to electricity...
