Now that Bioware is just about finished with this game, I'm wondering what you guys think is the best overall class and specialization for soloing. Durable, DPS, and Mobillity is what makes a class good.
I personally would say a Templar is the best class. It has access to the best combo in the game. With the Chromatic Greatsword, I've been doing 30k damage and then another 30k off the Chromatic ability. When WrathPurge is on CD, I can just spam combat roll. A warrior, especially a Templar, is known for simply just surviving. I can generate guard and use my Mobillity skills to avoid hits and deal damage.
A Templar isn't the best at dealing damage, surviving, and avoiding damage among its peers, but it's above average in all categories. This feat cannot be said among other specializations.
What do you guys think is the best specialization for soloing?

Schematic.

Haven't gotten that far into trespasser yet. Does it have an unique ability like the encore schematic?

It copies your hit and deals random elemental damage. Say you AA and do 1k damage, you will then deal another 1k damage with a random elemental. It's OP with the WrathPurge combo.

Does not matter as long as player knows what they are doing. Any class can survive in competent hands.

Highest consistent dps when totally optimized is artificer, followed by by a mix up of reaver, assassin (single target), necromancer (are really great at aoe and decent single target) and tempest.

Templar is great against any enemy that can be stunned for the combo otherwise it's not as good as those others. But since 80% of enemies can be stunned it's not a problem mostly. It's just the real tough enemies will be killed way more slowly than with those other classes.

if you are using chromatic greatsword or dragon hunter axe and spam Combat roll, every warrior class can do good DPS. With the current HOV, Livid and correct equipment, every warrior can have good defense. And facing any enemies which can't be Wrathpurged, Templar has the lowest DPS in theory.

Personally I think the easiness of soloing as a 2H warrior is champion > templar > reaver. But it's just me.

Well im yet to see an Assassin solo on NM with all trials... I know there is Malikas guard and guard on hit etc but i feel it defeats the point of assassin.

Assassin solos are a bit cheesy as in you just perma stealth until the boss fight and then take it down really fast. It's not really fun though as getting xp for abilities and lvl up is tedious. It's been done by someone at lvl 12 vs Cory. Don't know if someone did it yet against trespasser boss.

this my personal ranking for most suitable for solo play :

1) assassin (glass canon ,most of the time must stay in stealth ,but with new skill stealth which give you last stealth for 3sec and with knife in the shadow within the 3sec ,all you attack 100%crit and with crit you stamina are infinite and with hidden blade new toggle no witness which make hidden blade 4hits on each enemy, after hidden blade most of the time the enemy either dead of 1/4hp,the use flank attack go back stealth if the previous 3sec you didn't kill all enemy and then you whatever skill remains)

2)artificer (no cool-down)

3)reaver (invincible tank+high DPS, but you just keep spam dragon rage, reaver normally start a fight with charging bull and with upgrade cost no stamina on next skill, eiter use livid/horn of valor ,I prefer livid ,the just dragon rage til enemies die ,with amulet of death syphon each kill you regain HP+stamina back and when you are really low in hp use charging bull again and use devour, and master guard belt is a must have because livid and charging bull generate guard base on % with more guard you generate more )

4)tempest (heavy rely on thousand cut )

Warrior > Mage > Rogue. Pre skyhold.

Warriors have combat roll and thus, amulet of barrier.

Mages just get straight barrier and access to early dispel.

Solo rogues get #rekt by elite mages/elite red templar abominations early in the game.

After Skyhold, game's easy.

Tends to go KE >  Warrior specializations > DW Tempest/Assassin > other rogue specializations > other mage specializations.

It's hard to beat on demand barrier, and while warriors and the knight enchanter have that in common, fade cloak is just pure invulnerability every few seconds on top of on demand barrier.

Knight Enchanter is easily the best solo class there is. On demand Barrier, access to Disruption Field, Static Cage, Ring of Doubt, and any combination of spells you want in mage just make it extremely strong all around. It's not as potent against one target as it is at AoE, but it only falters in DPS.

Next up is a tie.

Artificer, Reaver, Assassin, and Champion. On demand Barrier and Guard is what makes any class a solo powerhouse, and all of these classes have it, along with immense amounts of unconditional DPS. The only reason they're not tied with Knight Enchanter is Fade Cloak.

Rift Mage is next. The control, unlimited mana, Ring of Doubt, and again -- any combo of spells you want make it extremely powerful. It has a great deal of DPS regardless of the situation -- but its hung up on its inability to maintain barrier and guard. You can sacrifice DPS for Control and become invincible, but you have to hamstring yourself to do it.

Tempest and Templar. Wombo Combo may be amazing, but if you can't pull it off for what ever reason, you are scrambling to stay alive and deal with what wasn't vulnerable to you. I never want to rely on my ability to stun or freeze, and that's a weakness. Templar is slightly ahead of Tempest because of Combat Roll. But since Perma Stealth is a thing in Trespasser -- they're even with the DLC.

Coming in last, is Necromancer. Some people swear up and down that its the best -- but they forget their second life has a cooldown and a very narrow window to get pulled off. Necro is basically a really buffed up Pre-Skyhold mage, and that's pretty dang weak compared to KE and Riff (\../,) Mage

Meh most fights for any class is a joke once you are lvled up to mid teens.

And before that you can exploit items like those fancy schematics and ring of doubt.

For for a compendium here are most challenging fights on nm with rub dirt on it etc, not necessarily in order:

-4 lvl 30 despair demons in joh Dlc (taken out in 30 sec with a mage by me)
-mixed room in trespasser featuring 2 high lvl despair demons and 1 rage demon in close quarters
-emprise d l Cassandra quest killing renegade mages
-ameridan s end joh (without confusion grenade)
-bolter bridge before guardian (descent)

Honerables:

-10 shriek room descent (and possibly the two ogres though their ai is dumb unlike the shrieks)
-saarath
- quest in joh where you have to take a small fort

Things where u r level may be suboptimal :

-haven/ preskyhold
-rift in wewhs

Various classes may have it easier in some of these encounters and more challenge in others.

I don't have a vid, but I one shot 2 of those despair demons on the JOH island using a 2H Templar. It took me about 35-40 seconds in total.

Gonna avoid Assassin because it's kinda cheesy if you ask me. Anyway:

Mages

-Winter/Rift Mage

-Inferno and Storm/Knight Enchanter

Warriors

-Chromatic Greatsword/Templar

-Weapon and Shield/Champion

Rogues

-Archer Artificer

I love my Qunari Inferno/KE mage, but have to give him a staff that doese Ice damage for those resistant to fire enemies. Jut soloed the Titan on him so , yeah he works well for a solo Quisy.
