My preferred hope is for a new protagonist or dual protagonists

Silly I know, but I'd like to get a Vint-born PC just to get a sexy new accent. I'm tired of the standard issue Ferelden/Marcher thing everywhere. Bonus points if we can swear in the native tongue.

Tevinter accent is received pronunciation it seems, so I wouldn't expect anything new in that regard. Interestingly enough, Tevinter might actually be the origin of Thedas' RP dialect, even if it doesn't make that much sense when combined with Old Tevene.

Particularly this! I cannot stand Medieval-themed fantasy. I feel Tevinter can be a setting that somewhat alleviates my disgust. I hope it will have a setting like HBO Rome, so less on the Medieval Europe. I could enjoy that.

Tevinter might be Thedas' cultural equivalent to Rome, but it's not going to look like Rome.

I believe its canon that the common dialect comes from the dwarves.

I seem to remember they originally had Dorian's voice actor trying another accent but they liked his natural accent so much better they just went with that.

Indeed. We already know what Tevinter Architecture looks like, just check out the Western Approach, that's the most recent artstyle from the devs. Ostagar and Kirkwall were also old tevinter construction.

In my opinion dragging an old PC back is the exact opposite of a clean cut. I would prefer to never see them again if the only option is to have Hawke 2.0 either let them clean up their mess or go with a clean break and move on.

That would be my preference too, but with the events of Trespasser that has become extremely unlikely. The best we can hope for is an NPC role, and the DA team actually showing some respect to the Inquisitor as an ex-PC, as they didn't with Hawke.

Hopefully we'll just meet agents of the Inquisition rather than the Inquisitor him/herself.

Well there's Dorian and his sending stone and Scout Harding

This is what I would prefer, as well, but I can already hear the fans screaming and threatening to burn down Bioware if we don't get an appearance from Inky.

Just point to Hawke and ask if we really want a repeat of that

You're right, Heimdall, common tongue was adapted from the trade tongue of the dwarves. And I'm glad that they kept Dorian's Va's natural accent. He wouldn't be Dorian without it.

You pretty much can't spit in Thedas without hitting something from Tevinter.

DA is gothic themed slowly brushing with renassance.

More people need to get over the fact hawke is not for blood magic or it's misuse and it's not strange for Hawke to be upset to see the Wardens misusing it.

They've started to make the story much more interesting. I really don't care where they take it next as long as they keep it interesting. I like where they're going with a resurgence of old races and the evolution of the southern Chantry. Thedas was stagnant in Origins it needs a Titan to step on its face.

I agree with most of the OP. However I never really felt any connection to my Inquisitors whatsoever and that's one of the reasons why I don't want to be stuck with them for another game.. I want a new character that has a proper background and I want them to be connected to Tevinter (and/or to other possible places we'll get to visit) and to the story we're going to experience there.

I was really hoping Bioware would release an expansion to deal with Solas and have a fresh start on the next game, but I guess not. I prefer the "new protagonist every game" approach they have followed so far, but I don't get why they keep bringing villains from past games when the new PC has no connection to them at all.. And that sucks because then the story feels less personal and you feel less connected to it as well (at least I do).

I do think that if we'll actually deal with Solas in the next game, then we should have the Inquisitor appear throughout the game and take control of them at some point. Because facing Solas with the new PC makes no sense.

The last thing I want is for there to be a new protagonist and the Inquisitor doing a Hawke. They completely butchered my Hawke in DAI and I don't want the same to occur to the Inquisitor. And if the reason Bioware had the Inquisitor lose their arm was to say "Well, they're handicapped now. Handicapped people can't be heroes or continue on so now we have a new protagonist.", then they have lost me as a customer.

Please let us continue as the Inquisitor Bioware. Either as the protagonist or one of the protagonists if you do the dual protagonist thing.

Instead of explaining my opinion in a relatively coherent manner I'll just go ahead and leave this....

The next book, Last flight, is more northern thedas but still not in tevintor.

Does the book help us understand more about the wardens? Sounds like I should download it.

I would play DA4 if either:

1) We play as the (former)inquisitor again and the game is about stopping Solas

OR

2) The game has nothing to do with Solas, the inquisitor, the inquisition or anything we saw in Trespasser and is a completely new story with new characters. No cameos, no returning companions.

I wouldn't play it if it's about stopping Solas but we play a random new person, and I don't want another parade of cameos and returning characters that the new protagonist doesn't know but the player does.

It's about the Fourth Blight and how the griffons became extinct.

It shows you what a real blight is like and the dark thing wardens do to end them. It's still mostly in the free marches and some of Antiva.

Unfortunately, I think it will be option 3: new protagonist and involved with stopping Solas. But I am hopeful that it won't be chockful of cameos and significant references to Southern Thedas. I think Dorian and Harding will be major players, and Maevaris (but she was never actually in game). Most other significant roles will be new characters.

I wouldn't go so far as saying I wouldn't play the game if any of those conditions are broken -- but I support the sentiment, Nefla.

Either:

* Give us a game in which we're the (ex) inquisitor trying to save the world from our former friend/rival/lover, Solas. Or ...

* Give us a new protagonist, a new location, and a game which has nothing -- or very little -- to do with Solas. Leave the Solas conflict for a later date.

Unfortunately -- I think we're going to get a game with a brand new protagonist who hunts down Solas and consults frequently with our out-of-character and strange-looking inquisitor. lol

Dear lord no. I don't need to be reminded of the walking steriotype anymore than I already am.

Most people need to realize that Hawke has a character. You can influence it but it is present and unchangeable.

That makes being a blood mage probably the most ooc thing an in character character has done.

I would much prefer DA4 to focus on Tevinter vs. Qunari and leave Solas for DA5. I think there needs to be a breather before his big reveal in Trespasser and his final solution. Have some build up of his work behind the scenes, maybe he helps incite some slave rebellions in Tevinter, but his big presence isn't the next game.
