I liked the sequence the first time through, but by the fourth, I was getting heartily sick of it. It doesn't help that I had to listen to it about 8 times in a row one time while trying to figure out which of the texture mods I was using was causing the white screen of death. Now, I get up to do something else until it ends.
Thank you Bioware for a great gaming moment

The scene has a bit of cheese and a bit of corn but it is still so satisfying and makes me feel good! Enjoy it every time I play the game.

This scene is alright. I don't feel much about it either way, but compared to the song scene in DAO, it's a goddamn miracle. Leliana breaking into song in DAO was one of the worst moments across any of the games for me.

I think my favorite part of that scene was me telling off Mother Gisele saying something about "Stop lecturing me about beliefs and whatnot"
I don't know why I hate her, but I just do.
Which is why I hated the singing part. Wish the singing caused another avalanche. My lactose intolerance cannot handle scenes with this much cheese

I actually liked that song... but not the animation. And the context was less bombastic. It's just her talking about death, I think. It's simple and down to earth. I guess DAO in general contemplates themes of death a lot. This DAI story and sequence hinges on the faith theme, but since I can't wrap my head around the absurdity of most of the plot, it fails for me. After ME3, it seems like they're trying way too hard to make the player appreciated as much as possible... even down to getting worshipped and making entire factions groveling in your presence. I didn't need this, personally. It just looks pathetic.

I loved seeing Leliana sing again. And did anyone else notice Solas' juggling Staff act? How many Staves does he have?

Three. There's the Apostate Staff he has when you meet him, the Staff of Corruption he has after the sing-along, and the Trydda Staff he has in the Journey to Skyhold montage. He doesn't have a staff in the scene after Cory or in Trespasser.

Ehhh, I thought that was a little bland. It felt more like a professional choir, than a group of survivors trying to raise their spirits. I mean, I never really felt the sadness the characters had while they sung. Plus, Leliana already did that in Origins, so as an older player of the Dragon Age franchise, it lost a lot of its impact.
Shouldn't it have the impact of nostalgia at least?
Also consider that this bitter and workaholic Leliana is unlikely to feel compelled to sing like she used to. That alone makes it a special moment.

I hate when people start singing in DA:I because it's obvious that it's a pre-recorded group rather than individuals. I think it would help if there wasn't music with it maybe? However I do think the sequence that starts when you seal the breach and ends when you're named inquisitor is by far the best in the game.

Special how? That she completely lost her mind and people are bowing down to a Life of Brian character... and not even in an ironic way.
I guess that's worth a song actually.

My poor Lavellan, who repeatedly insisted she doesn't believe in Andraste and isn't her Herald, was so confused and uncomfortable during this scene!
Solas was the only sane person among all this craziness!
My Adaar felt the same way a first.....Then she thought.."Wait, I can use what here to unite thedas. A people beyond race and religion. A thedas that one and stop that dark furture from happening."

LOL!
Really People are so damn negative.
The scene is not so bad, inquisition soundly defeated by a darkspawn magister then the scene just show up giving hope w/ the defeated inquisition army. So what alternative scene do you want to see giving hope w/ a soundly defeated inquisition army??
Personally i praise the deeper story of DAI and much more better story than the previous title.
Yes the story is about saving the world again and a TES or RPG prisoner vibe main character but much more deeper story like politics and controversies.

More like the music in the background was the issue. Her sing alone was fine...but to make it orchestrated? What were they thinking? At least they learnt their lesson.

For sure. They used a lot of reverb in the recording of the vocals (try 11-12 seconds into the posted video) and it destroyed the mood for me. You wouldn't get that echo effect in real life in an open field in a frozen environment. Sounded too show-tuney and over-produced to me. I like the natural human voice flaws and all and also feel a more natural sound would have fit the setting better.
Edit: I don't actually know that reverb is used here. I am no sound man. There is definitely a lot of some type of effect or filtering.

Ohh, absolutely.
I also love that cutscene with the advisors showing off in What Pride Had Wrought. It was beautifully badass.

So far I really like the musical moments in the games, both Leliana in Origins and this moment in Inquisition. Brings something extra to the games. It doesn't hurt that I really enjoy both songs, either.
Witcher 3 took a page from Bioware's playbook with their musical moment with the bard. I enjoyed that song as well. I think more games should work on implementing stories and songs, if it makes sense for the game.

I didn't like it. If you're a "faithless" Inquisitor you've just told Giselle that there is no divine hand in what is going on, or that fanatical belief is the problem, and then you're confronted with people singing a hymn and kneeling to you. It's frustating. On an aesthetic note I didn't like the music or the song.
What annoys me about a "reject being the Herald" playthrough is that there is no way to put your stamp on the Inquisition. The devs said in the lead up to Inquisiton that it was going to be about "founding the Jedi order" instead of joining it, which implies to me deciding what sort of organisation it is. You never get to do that though; it's always about religion. Cassandra and the advisors have already created the Inquisiton; you're just the figurehead.
